Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: “Very good. We wanted to show a reaction. Be ourselves. Getting to be the best version of ourselves. We play a specific way. We scored wonderful goals. The game settled and we kept scoring. It was about keep going. Not to humiliate Bournemouth, we couldn’t respect them more. It’s about putting the opponent under pressure. I could bring on the kids, they deserve it so much. Everything was perfect pretty much.”
Bournemouth boss Scott Parker: “The bottom line is we were in an arena with massive quality and, at this moment in time, we’re probably not equipped to handle it. I’m disappointed with the result, I’m disappointed for the fans who have travelled here, and I’m disappointed for the players that this is where we are the moment in time.
“The players, everyone, need a little bit of help. Today just proved too big a challenge, the levels – a clinical team and the intensity of the stadium – were far too big. It was a real humbling experience.
“I’m pretty shellshocked, the players are pretty shellshocked. It’s my job to lift this group now, we need to dust this aside because there could be psychological elements after this defeat.”

“We made a mistake and they punished us but then how we reacted against adversity, the connection with the supporters, the way we went about it, the team believed. They wanted to win the match, they went for it and we managed to do it.”
On Gabriel getting the winner after his mistake: “It shows his character and how far he has come across. His mentality and the way he looks after himself I am really happy.
“Now it is onto the next one. We have another two games this week we have to prepare and recover well. Every game in this league is so demanding.
“Really physical and really quality teams with top coaches that make every game difficult.”

Brendan Rodgers was left to rue the host of chances his team squandered, as well as a Barnes goal that was ruled out in the first half for what looked a soft foul on Mendy.
“It was very frustrating not to have taken at least a point from the game,” said the Leicester boss. “We started well and looked a threat in the game.
“We’re disappointed with the goal that was disallowed. The ‘keeper has made a mistake in his timing. It was a great header.”
Rodgers continued: “We went to sleep at the beginning of the second half, we were too passive and let them play through too easy.
“Then we didn’t press the shot on the edge of the box and if you go behind in a game against 10 men it can be really difficult.
“In fairness to the players, we kept going, the spirit was really good and we had opportunities. There’s no doubt we should have taken at least a point.”

Man of the match: Pascal Gross
Graham Potter speaking to Sky Sports: “In the end we are happy as we got three points and the clean sheet but it would have been nice to open the scoring a bit sooner as our performance deserved it. But credit the players, they deserved the three points against a side that make it very difficult for you. We’re really happy with the start we’ve made and happy with our work.”
Jesse Marsch speaking to Sky Sports: “First half we didn’t play well but we made some adjustments and played better in the second half.
“This was a strategic day. They man-mark and try to play in our end, more direct. It was part of our plan too, to play in their end and play direct to put them under pressure. But our players chose to play out instead of being direct which was the plan. We need to have discipline to stick to the plan of the match. We did it better in the second half. This was a theme of last year when we would build a plan, the match would start and the players would play how they wanted, not sticking to the plan. So, when we do stick to the plan we can manipulate the game more. It’s a learning moment.”

Subs: Ronaldo (6), Casemiro (n/a), Fred (n/a).
Man of the match: Lisandro Martinez.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag: “I think we did a lot better [than] against Brentford.
“I saw a team on the pitch, good organisation, fight for each other, and I think there were also some really good moments from playing football.
“We scored finally in the best part of Man United after half-time. I think that 10-15 minutes was really good. We played a really good possession game and scored a wonderful goal.
“There is a lot of room for improvement, that’s quite clear, but for me that is normal. Communication is always tough, that’s one. Second is cooperation with the team, that is new. A new way of play, so a lot of new facts, and that will not go 100 per cent from the start. But we have to get results, we have to win games, and that is what we went through.
“And we did today, so I’m really happy with that.”
Asked about the specifics of his rule book, Ten Hag replied: “Do you have an hour? There is always a journey with your team. We started from the first day in pre-season to get that in, and now the window is not closed. Every time a new player is in you have to inform them about the rules, and they have to play together.”

Subs: Keane (6), Davies (6), Rondon, Vinagre (n/a).
Man of the match: James Tarkowski.
Brentford manager Thomas Frank tells Sky Sports:
“If it was simple [why Brentford keep conceding first], I’d change it, but it’s much more to create a culture and mentality that these players have. There are games when you don’t create anything but we created dangerous situations throughout the game.
“There was definitely something waiting for us. We have a good squad and I think when you have five substitutions, it’s important to use them, which we did so I’m very pleased with many things.
“I love our team, I think it’s a fantastic team and we had the performance. We created several chances, I know it gets more difficult when you’re 1-0 down but in general I’m pleased, we gave very little away, a mistake for their goal but then we were on top of the game.
“The mentality of our team is remarkable.”
Frank Lampard tells Sky Sports:
“It’s a point gained, we can’t take away from the fact they stuck the ball in their box, hit the post a few times. We know how they play, it’s a real style they’ve had for a few years now.
“First half was really good from us, good play, good possession, stuff we’re working on at the moment playing without a striker. At the end of it, we can be pretty happy with a point and move on.
“There’s a lot of pressure on young players because of the media and social media, I thought Anthony [Gordon’s] performance was a credit to him and showed why he’s an Everton player.
“I saw a lot of progression in our performance today, there’s a long way to go but we need to keep working in the right direction.”
