It’s set up to be another exciting season, with many soccer scores to keep an eye on across the world.

Sky Sports duo Simeon Gholam and David Prutton gave a preview heading into the next game of the regular season, predicting the results of every fixture; listen to the podcast below or via any of your regular podcast providers.

Blackburn vs Preston

David: I think I mean, if you if we’d look to this game, what, maybe a month 6 weeks ago, it would have been a very different picture. But given what we’ve seen from Blackburn losing three on the bounce coming into this one and a Preston side under Paul Heckingbottom that have seemingly pulled the fingers out, haven’t they, collectively? And the fact that they’re only 5 points between them, I think this makes for a cracking for a cracking fixture. And, Blackburn, having seen the pace that the likes of Sunderland and Boro are trying to keep up, wanna get themselves back into the top 6 still. You wanna hunt down the playoff places.

Simeon: We hope this is a feisty affair. We do also hope there’s a little bit less bite in this one than there was at Deepdale. Unfortunately, I don’t see Rovers side getting anything out of this game, says our Blackburn fan who remains nameless. With the lack of ambition from our board, I see us falling down the table as it’s usually been the case in these past 4 to 5 seasons. Our player push has come to an end, he says already, and he’s got a 2-1 Preston win. So very, very, very optimistic Blackburn fan there. Blackburn have failed to win any of the last 5 games between these two sides, so maybe he is right. Although they have drawn all 3 of those. Perhaps score on Friday night at Ewood Park, what do you think it’s gonna be?

David: That’s a very, astute observation, which that does that does sound condescending given he’s a Blackburn Rovers fan. Because that traditional drop off that we’ve seen in January, you hope that isn’t the case given how good the job Eustace has done so far. But I think Preston, buoyed by recent results, come into this, very happy indeed.

David Prutton’s score prediction: 2-2

Plymouth vs West Brom

Simeon: Plymouth battled to a point at Sunderland last week. Does this kick start their season? It kind of has to because they are 9 points drift for safety as we speak. West Brom in the playoff places as we head into the weekend. They whipped Portsmouth 5 nil last week. Mowbray’s first home game in charge of the weekend, although they did lose his first away again in midweek. And they are on the road again, and it’s a long trip to Home Park. It’s a long trip to home park for everyone. Plymouth really do need to build on that battling point at Sunderland, do they not?

David: Huge point up against Sunderland. Obviously, the fact that it is that interminable trip that the, the Plymouth fans, make, which is, real credit to them because they have followed their team everywhere, and they make kind of a lot of noise. And they needed a reaction after that, Burnley humbly. We discussed at the time there are levels. I understand that, and it’s a team in Burnley good in to get back into the Premier League, but my word, that was an absolute destruction. As for West Brom, how lovely to see Tony Mowbray back. Lovely, lovely fellow that he is. Hopefully, we’re gonna get a chance to chat to him before kickoff on Saturday. And I think it could be a very happy hunting ground held park for the Baggies.

Simeon: Plymouth have not beaten West Brom in 9 attempts. They’ve not scored in 5 of those last 6. Their last win over the baggies came in 1993, and their last home win in the league over the baggies was in 1990. So, yeah, not a good record for the Pilgrims against the Baggies. What’s the score?

David Prutton’s score prediction: 2-1 West Brom

Oxford vs Bristol City

Simeon: Oxford are unbeaten in 8 now under Gary Rowett. Five wins, 3 draws has been a pretty staggering turnaround. Bristol City head into the weekend, 3 points off the playoffs. This is, of course, the the Liam Manning Derby and Manning’s first return to Kassam since jumping from the U’s to the Robins.

David: I’m intrigued treated to see what they were actually. Obviously, known as a nice bunch, the Oxford United fans. So I’ve been treated to see what they do. I mean, they you’d be forgiven for them for thinking Liam, given how unbelievably well Gary’s done. He’s done a wonderful job on it. And it’s got shades of, I mean and I mean this wholeheartedly as a compliment, shades of his time at Burton Albion. It’s a very similar feel of a club, isn’t it? Obviously, the history, is more weighty from an Oxford United point of view with the greatest respect to what Burton Albion is. But I think the job that is done, Gary’s done so far has been fantastic. And, with Liam and Bristol City, we’ve chatted a lot, obviously, about Blackburn and Boro and West Brom and those teams that are knocking in and around the the top 6 and maybe chuck Watford and Wednesday into that. But Bristol City quietly going about their business, aren’t they? Very, very quietly indeed.

Simeon: So much so that I was actually quite surprised where they were at the table. Oxford have not beaten Bristol City in the league since a 3-0 win in 1999. They’ve only played 3 times since then, to be fair.

David Prutton’s score prediction: 1-1

Watford vs Norwich

Simeon: Watford are 3 points off the playoffs heading into the weekend. I mean, you wouldn’t know it from the feeling around the club and the stuff surfacing around Tom Cleverley and all the rumours around his future, which is never nice to see, but not entirely unexpected from that particular part of Hertfordshire.

David: Yeah. Crazy days.

Simeon: Norwich, 2 points further back. But have Josh Sargent back

David: Hefty win against Swansea. He’s a massive part of what they do.

Simeon: But my money, the best number 9 in the Championship when he’s fit, but probably he’s not fit often enough. But when he is, what a player what difference he makes to the Canaries.

David: Oh, he is wonderful. And that’s the type of player that they needed back with his work right, with his clinical ability to finish a chance, and for Watford, I think this is a really tough, tough gig as it has been in recent weeks with Tom Cleverley. I mean, you can’t take it with a pinch of salt because once these discussions start happening with Watford normally, cover the results down the line and and changes are made, and it’s almost akin to as one’s driving out the door, the other one driving out the training, but the other one’s coming past him and going, right. I don’t run a football club, so that’s as far as I’m gonna pass judgement on that. But, yeah, I think this is given the form that they’ve just smashed themselves into Norwich City, it’s not necessarily the greatest time, is it, for Watford to be looking for a result?

Simeon: Our Watford fan, Tom, says, lunchtime on Saturday. We’ve dropped off a little bit, but still we’ve been touching distance to the playoff places. Lost our last 2 games, but, hopefully, we can get back on track this week. I’m backing us to him at 2-1. Just as we talked about surprised to see how Bristol City were high in the table. I was surprised to see how high Watford were in the table as well considering all the rumours say. So you think they’re doing a lot worse, especially considering around the preseason expectation With the club and how much lower they should have been. But then sometimes you could be your own own worst enemy by actually doing well in this league. Our Norwich fan, Ethan, says, Watford on a poor run of form. Norwich was sergeant back in scoring. He’s gone for a 2-1 Norwich win. This match has not finished goalless in any competition since February 1988. They played 38 times.

David Prutton’s score prediction: 2-1 Norwich

Middlesbrough vs Sunderland

Simeon: Middlesbrough head into the weekend in 6th. They may be displaced before then. We don’t know. Inconsistency and iffy defending has cost them a little bit recently, especially at Preston over the weekend. Sunderland also missed a big chance themselves in the weekend drawing their home against Plymouth. They’ll probably be kicking themselves, especially considering other results over the weekend with Sheffield United dropping points, and Burnley and Leeds boring the entire world to death.

David: Sunderland with Plymouth and that 90th minute equaliser will be kicking themselves that they didn’t manage to hang on for that one against, as you said, a Boro side with we’ve already mentioned Preston. A good result for Preston against them last time out. This a cracking game this from Monday night, isn’t it? The kind of Derby up in the northeast that we really do enjoy. A tease weird derby, isn’t it? A tease weird derby.

Simeon: Yes. And I am going to really, really stick my neck out and say this is going to be a better game than Burnley versus Leeds. Yes. If it ends up being a worse game than Burnley versus Leeds, I will hand in my resignation and go work elsewhere. I don’t ever wanna see anything that bad in my mind. Our Sunderland fan, Glenn, says, that was the worst I’ve seen us play against Plymouth, but we’ve got 9 days off before Boro, and we’ll be back to our best. We match the top 3, if not better. Le Fee back in the middle and watch him go. I’m going 3-1 to us. There’s only one goalless draw between these guys in the 21st century. A lot of goalless draw stats, bound around this podcast. I think I’ve got goalless draw on the brain. I can’t think why.

David Prutton’s score prediction: 2-2

Derby v Sheffield United

Simeon: Our Derby fan, Cribo Ben, says another painful defeat on the cards against Blades. The PE teacher needs relieving of his duties. He’s gone for a 3-0 Sheffield United win. Only one of the last 9 league meetings between these two sides has ended as a draw.

David: I’m gonna go for a hefty reaction from Sheff U and Chris Wilder after that defeat to Hull. I still do think Warne is the man for the job there at Derby. So I’m gonna go Sheffield United to beat them 2 nil.

David Prutton’s score prediction: 2-0 Sheffield United

Hull v Stoke

Simeon: Hull have won just 2 of the last 8 Championship games against Stoke, and they’ve both come away from home.

David Prutton’s score prediction: 2-1 Hull

Leeds v Cardiff

Simeon: Leeds unbeaten in the last 5 games against Cardiff in all competitions, and they’ve also scored 14 goals in that time.

David: I think on the road, this would have been slightly different given how good Cardiff have been under Riza, but I think Leeds at home with, hopefully, the fingers pulled out after the last time I mentioned this the Burnley game at Turf Moor.

David Prutton’s score prediction: 2-0 Leeds

Millwall v QPR

Simeon: Our Millwall fan simply says 8-2. That’s what he’s gone for, an 8-2 win. Millwall has have won just 3 of the last 13 league games against QPR. What’s the score going to be?

David: Do I think they could beat QPR? Do I think they could beat QPR? No.

David Prutton’s score prediction: 1-1

Portsmouth v Burnley

Simeon: Burnley won their last trip to Portsmouth 5 1, but that was in 2012. What’s the score going to be at Fratton Park?

David Prutton’s score prediction: 2-0 Burnley

Sheffield Wednesday v Luton

Simeon: Luton have won their last 4 games on the spin against Sheffield Wednesday. What’s the score going to be at Hillsborough?

David Prutton’s score prediction: 2-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Swansea v Coventry

Simeon: Coventry had failed to win any of the last 18 league games against Swansea and beaten them in the league since October 1981. Very long time ago.

David: This is a tough one given Swansea got dismantled by Norwich and Coventry doing some very steady work under Frank. I’m gonna go for a Coventry win on the road here.

David Prutton’s score prediction: 1-0 Coventry
