Plymouth vs Luton
Simeon: Plymouth beaten just about at West Brom last week. Luton back to back wins on their way into this one. They came back to be in Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, late on next to a Carlton Morris double. They are clambering up the table, and the early, the early crisis they found themselves in seems to be abating as it often does after an unbeaten run of 2.
David: Yeah. It’s, but I think Rob said himself he was broadly happy with what he saw from the team, performance wise. Just needed to turn a bit of a corner with that, which potentially we thought might be the case with Plymouth beating Sunderland. But, I mean, losing to the team that’s top of the table, no real disgrace in that, I don’t think. But lots to build on from the Sunderland game and even more to build on for Luton with those back to back wins against Sheffield Wednesday side that we know, of course, are struggling somewhat.
Simeon: You didn’t mention Wayne Rooney at any point there.
David: Nope. Because, it’s not just his football club. It’s a one involved with Plymouth Argyle as well.
Simeon: So that’s just never happened before. It’s, quite incredible. Our Argyle fan, Ross, says Friday night is an opportunity to get another win against a Luton side that has been underwhelming so far. At home, I think we can certainly get a positive result as we are improving with each match, and he has gone for a 2 one Argyle win. Our Luton fan, Andrew, says we didn’t show it in the first 75 minutes against Sheffield Wednesday. But in the last 15 and added time, it gives me hope, and he’s gone for a 2-0 Luton win. So both both fans are backing their teams. Luton are unbeaten across their last 4 away league games against Plymouth keeping it pretty. She’s in each of those matches. They’ve won 3 of those as well drawn the other. So they have a very good record down at Home Park.
David Prutton’s score prediction: 2-1 Luton
Blackburn vs QPR
Simeon: Still unbeaten. It’s been been a really good start for Blackburn. QPR have drawn more than any other side in the league, 4 out of 6, including their 1-1 at home to Millwall last Saturday. So just, can’t quite find those wins QPR. But they’re not losing either. Blackburn’s still unbeaten. So 2 sides in decent net heading into this one.
David: Yeah. Some very good players to keep an eye on, of course, from Blackburn’s point of view. Yuki Ohashi is, taking to this like a duck to water. Dolan is a player that I’ve always enjoyed watching. So there’s, there’s really good work being done by John Eustace and Blackburn. Currently sat 4th against the QPR side in 14th. Again, with some decent recruitments over the course, of the summer and the transfer window, it’s the type of game potentially where someone like Michael Frey might come to the fore. Let me check to Curtis Davis about him at the start of the season. He wasn’t sure what the amount of goals he’d scored or he would score, but he’s comprehensively kind of put that to bed for now, hasn’t he? So no.
Simeon: Blackburn have lost just 4 of their last 22 league games against QPR this century, failing to score in just 4 of those matches. What’s the score?
David Prutton’s score prediction: 2-1 Blackburn

Derby vs Norwich
Simeon: Derby continued their trend at the weekend of losing every away game, but they’ve also won every home game, which bodes well because it. Norwich, easily their most convincing performance of the season so far as they blew apart Watford for one last Saturday. So it’s this team inching into good form or striding into good form against and away at a team that have won every game at home. So this should be a bit of a tasty tasty encounter, should it not?
David: It should. Norwich seemingly finally waking up. Derby, I think, given the fact that they are ahead of them in the table on the returns to the championship. I think you’ve gotta say its job relatively well done so far, for Paul Warne and his men. Yes, they’ve got the advantage of how strong they are at home, and I will be very intrigued to see how Norwich travel with this one having, of course, lost last time out on the road to Swansea City, but that was, of course, after a win on the road also against Coventry. So, yep, nicely balanced. Derby, well done to them. I say with no condescension. And Norwich, with work to do, but moving in the right direction.
Simeon: I always find it fascinating how a team can be so good at home and so not as good a way. I know it’s it’s fairly obvious why, but it’s just it it can be so contrasting that it does, does oft.
David: It can. Because in theory, obviously, pitch is the same size, ball’s the same size, same number of people on their either side. Just sometimes the dynamic, the home comforts, can bode well. But if they want, a very successful season, then that kind of ability to win on the road has gotta be cranked up a few notches.
Simeon: Derby have lost us one of the last six league games against Norwich City, although that one did come in their last meeting in April 2021, of course. Haven’t played each other for a couple of years. So what’s the score going to be at Pride Park?
David Prutton’s score prediction: 1-0 Derby

Sheff Wed vs West Brom
Simeon: Sheffield Wednesday narrowly beaten at Luton at the weekend. Still, yet to win win since opening day and find themselves in the bottom three. Not a place they would have expected to be under Danny Rohl really this season, but still early days. West Brom are right at the other end, right at the top. It’s been some start for them. Five wins and a draw, and that draw came against Leeds. Narrowly edge pass Plymouth on Saturday thanks to Josh Maja, the league’s top scorer. Yes. Unbelievable start for West Brom.
David: Yes. They’ve been wonderful. Really, really, good to watch. They’ve seemingly picked up from that disappointment in the playoffs last season and started very, very well indeed. Carlos, of course, highly coveted when jobs come up and quite rightly so. But when you’ve got measuring that type of performance, Tom Fellows, with that wonderful wing play that he employs and across the front with Karlan Grant and John Swift. That’s, at this moment in time, as good an attacking force you could possibly wish for and seemingly pretty solid at the back. So at the moment, a really good combination for these 2 against the Wednesday side that I think they’re somewhere in the middle of what we’ve seen. They’ve not covered themselves in glory in some games, but also have have looked pretty dominant in others. So that’ll be as much of a frustration to Danny Rohl as anyone else.
Simeon: Sheffield Wednesday have once won the last 10 league games against West Brom. Though that sole victory came in this exact fixture last season in a 3-0 success at Hillsborough. What’s the score going to be at Hillsborough?
David Prutton’s score prediction: 2-1 West Brom

Swansea vs Bristol City
Simeon: Swansea won at Coventry on Saturday, striking with 2 early goals to win 2-1. Ten points from their first 6 games, which is a pretty solid start. Bristol City, a much needed comeback win over Oxford. They won that 2-1, especially for Liam Manning against his own side after some difficult results for them. Not quite. A derby this 1. It’s either side of they both hate Cardiff derby.
David: Swansea just quietly getting about the business, aren’t they? A nice way to put it for Luke and his and his mob. But, I mean, just to point behind Leeds, given about they’re sat 7th. So, no, very good work done indeed.
Simeon: About your barometer, everything in the Championship is how far ahead they are behind Leeds.
David: Yeah. Because people talk about how good Leeds are doing. Yeah. And Bristol City, as you say, Liam needed that win, most of all because of playing that team that you moved away from even though they’ve done wonderfully well under Des Buckingham. It was one that was much needed for him after the back to back defeats, against Blackburn and Derby without a goal in shipping, 3 in each game. So now back to winning ways for them. This one is nice balance of a couple of very good young coaches, isn’t it.
Simeon: 100% and a couple of coaches who have also worked their way up through the leagues, which we always like to see. After producing a league double over Swansea last season, Bristol City are looking to win 3 successive matches against the Welsh side for the first time since January 1929. What’s the score going to be?
David Prutton’s score prediction: 2-0 Swansea
Hull v Cardiff
Simeon: Hull have won each of the last 6 league matches against Cardiff. It’s the Tigers’ longest current winning streak against any side in the EFL.
Cardiff managerless, of course, after giving Erol the bullet. What’s the score going to be at the MKM Stadium?
David Prutton’s score prediction: 2-0 Hull

Leeds v Coventry
Simeon: Our Leeds fan, David G, says I’m quite pleased with our results so far, though, not the performances. I can see us winning again.
The City back line will get dizzy watching us play around, and after 20 or so chances, we should get the couple. And he has gone with a 2-0 win.
Leeds have lost 2 of their last 3 league games against Coventry, one more than in their previous 17 such encounters.
What’s the score going to be at Elland Road?
David Prutton’s score prediction: 2-1 Leeds

Middlesbrough v Stoke
Simeon: Middlesbrough have lost just 1 of the last 8 home league games against Stoke City.
Though that sole defeat did come last season.
What’s the score going to be at the Riverside Stadium?
David Prutton’s score prediction: 1-0 Middlesbrough

Millwall v Preston
Simeon: Millwall are beating across their last 10 league games against Preston, failing to score in just one match during that time.
What’s the score then to be at the Den?
David Prutton’s score prediction: 1-1

Oxford v Burnley
Simeon: Burnley have won each of their last two league games against Oxford and will be looking to record 3 in succession for the first time.
But it’s also the first time they’ve played each other since April 2000.
What’s the score going to be at the Kassam Stadium?
David Prutton’s score prediction: 1-0 Burnley
Portsmouth v Sheffield United
Simeon: Our Sheffield United fan, Joe, says it was great to see Hamer score a special goal in Maddy Cusack’s memory on Saturday.
Maddy Cusack, of course, who tragically passed away, Sheffield United player.
Pompey will be no easy game.
I would honestly take a point, but I feel with our squad, we’ll push through with a 2-1 win.
Portsmouth have lost just 1 in the last 10 only games against Sheffield United when each of the last three meetings between these two sides at Fratton Park.
What’s the score going to be?
David Prutton’s score prediction: 2-1 Sheffield United

www.fanbanter.co.uk – Fan reaction to the latest football news, gossip & funnies
Watford v Sunderland
Simeon: Our Sunderland fan Chris says, I’d love to say we’d win again.
However, it’s hard to keep winning.
I don’t think we’ll lose, but I expect Watford to be frustrating, and he has gone for a 1-1 draw, our first of the season, he says.
Sunderland have failed to win any of their 6 away league games against Watford this century. Failing to keep a clean sheet on any of those visits to Vicarage Road.
What’s the score going to be?
David Prutton’s score prediction: 1-1
