After the release of the third season of the popular docuseries ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ on streaming platforms, McElhenney and Reynolds once again treated their players to a VIP experience.
McClean has put out several photos and videos showing what the squad are getting up to, one of which making a return to the Hakkasan nightclub, which they visited last year having won promotion back to the Football League.
A highlights video from this season played on the big screen in the venue for their recent trip while American rapper Lil Jon performed on stage that night.
Mullin and McClean had a photo together, and uploaded it to Instagram stories, with the caption, ‘We hate the f***ing King!’, in reference to James McClean’s dislike of the monarchy.
James makes no secret of this, and openly admitted to singing anti-monarchy chants after securing promotion last month, singing it with fans at the Racecourse Ground just weeks after Prince William visited and met up with staff and players while also listening to them talk about the club’s staggering rise into the EFL.
King Charles also met Reynolds and McElhenney on his own visit in December 2022.
James McClean took a screenshot of the Mail Sport’s story about him singing about his dislike for the monarchy on social media, he said: ‘Is this correct? Absolutely and I also sang at the top of my lungs.
‘Do I make any apologies for doing so? Absolutely not.’

McClean also reshared a recent picture with Mullin and said: ‘We serve no king or kaiser but Ireland. Sue me!’
However it seems both posts have now been deleted.
Writing in his ‘My Wrexham Story’ autobiography, Mullin complained that the King’s visit to the club was disrupting preparations ahead of a big game.
He adds: ‘I’ll be straight: This visit might have been billed as a historic day for Wrexham, but it wasn’t for me. I’ve no interest in royalty.
‘I don’t see why anyone should have the God-given right to be born into such wealth, and then for us to pay for them as well. It just comes down to basic fairness.’

A year ago, Wrexham’s Paul Mullin also sang ‘f*** the Tories’ chant in a McDonald’s months after the message he had on his boots.
He was being filmed leading the song the morning after his team won promotion to League Two, still in the party spirit after scoring two of the three goals that Wrexham won having come from behind against Boreham Wood.
The video showed Mullin singing along with his teammates in a local McDonald’s, and it’s not the first time he’s expressed this, having put the same ‘f*** the Tories’ message on his boots.
The club said at the time: “The Club can confirm that the boots revealed by Paul Mullin on social media will not be worn tonight, or in any other Wrexham AFC fixture and that the photographs taken at the Racecourse Ground were done so without our knowledge or approval. For the record, the pictures wouldn’t have been permitted to be taken, had we known, and the issue will be dealt with privately by the Club.
“The Club has adopted a neutral position on many matters with a political dimension and intends to continue to do so going forward. The Club also acknowledge that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, whether that be employees or supporters but would also highlight that an individual view cannot be fairly attributed, as the view of everyone or the Club itself.”

Fans gave their reaction as Paul Mullin joins James McClean in a ‘we hate the f***ing King’ jibe with posts since deleted…
@Wrexhamisdname: Fucking love it
@grahamrobert76: Utter disgrace to their club @Wrexham_AFC. God save the King!
@leeweystol: Not a good soundbite from your players @RMcElhenney @VancityReynolds. Assume this won’t make the cut on Welcome to Wrexham that I was enjoying until now.
Gav Lea: James McClean AH HA 🎵🎵🎵
Matthew Purslow: It’s not there now. Maybe the advisor to the board has been monitoring insta through the night 🤣🤣
Pearl Liz: Matthew Purslow Yes I went to look for it and it’s defo been deleted! Funny 🤣
Pearl Liz: Think they’ve had a few too many 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dion Thomas: love it 😍
David Jarvis: Hang it in the Lourve!
Scott Cumming: young men having a good well earned break, leave them be.
Dave Conner: Its as if they want Shaun Harvey to have anxiety problems 🙈😂
Tracey Leech: Why do they feel we need to know that? All we need from them is good football and to be great role models for the youngsters. Stirring up shit is a lack of discipline and respect. When the royals come to the club it provides huge interest and they need to remember interest and public with publicity helps pay their wages. Rant over.
Aled Davies: Tracey Leech why do you feel you’re allowed an opinion on social media yet Mullin and McClean aren’t? The royal visits didn’t benefit the club, it was the royals leaching off the success and profile of the club.
Andy Nicholls: Aled Davies what did they leach? Serious question. The ending will be the same as Mullins boots he will be told to pipe down as it’s bad PR and he will do, McClean will tell them to go fcuk themselves as he’s never been swayed with his opinions.
Caroline Loose: Good on them 🤣
Jack Hughes: Lads 👊
Steven Morgan: Yes laddddd 🏆
Julie Haggarty: He’s James McLean, and he’s one of our own ⚽️🔴🤍⚽️
