Birmingham fans celebrate wildly as news of fake Hull goal spreads across St Andrew’s

Footage emerges with Birmingham fans taking to celebrate wildly as news of fake Hull City goal spreads across St Andrew’s.

Blues fans were listening to murmurings of a goal at Home Park, believing that Hull had scored against Plymouth, which would have seen Gary Rowett’s team stay up.

However, it was later revealed that Hull hadn’t actually found the back of the net at Plymouth, with the Tigers going on to lose the match 1-0.

Joe Edwards’ goal for Plymouth just before the break meant Plymouth were safe from relegation, while condemning Birmingham to League One football next season despite the Blues winning 1-0 against Norwich City on Saturday.

Plymouth Argyle, Sheffield Wednesday, and Blackburn Rovers all won their final day matches, against Hull, Sunderland, and Leicester City respectively.

Birmingham Interim Manager Gary Rowett said after the game: “Of course, [it is] extreme disappointment. I was pleased with the performance today. I thought we performed really, really well against a good Norwich side. Our home form, three wins out of four against some good teams as well – I was pleased with that aspect of it and we never really looked like we were in too much danger. We probably should have had more goals first-half also.

“It just felt so frustrating. We knew the other results, you are just looking for something to go our way. Maybe sometimes you have to look at it and say it was written in the stars that this was our time and we have got to bounce back and be stronger from it.

“I thought our fans were absolutely amazing. I have got to be honest, that is probably the best atmosphere I have ever walked out to at the start of the game – absolutely amazing.

“I would like to thank them because they have done their bit. They have done their bit in every single home game, they have done their bit in every single away game. They can certainly look and say they have supported their team through thick and thin this season.

“You couldn’t ask for much more than that, and I think there are better days for them to come. I think we will see a really exciting future for the Club under the Owners. From my personal perspective and what I have seen, they are really good people and have the passion and energy to move this club forward.”

Twitter users gave their reaction after seeing Birmingham fans celebrate wildly as news of a fake Hull goal spreads across St Andrew’s…

@Walshyyup: Everyone looking at eachother confused 😂😂

@Bilybond: #BCFC @BCFC Not funny yesterday when part of the top (top right) started celebrating and then the top middle Tilton started and we all thought Hull had scored, everyone looking at phones nothing showing 🤣🤣🤣 KRO great sense of humor

@bluenosesrule: I thought my phone was just a bit slow as Plymouth were still 1-0 up.

@BcfcRory: There was a cunt who said hull scored too hope he rots

@chapmanbcfc:  Worst part of today was the false rumour that Hull had equalised! Spread all the way from block 39 to the Tilton 🔵 Whoever that was, it was cruel to say the least 😂 #BCFC

@ChrisCOB_OB: I hated every second of that false Hull goal. Everything happens for a reason we’ve got to embrace and bounce back positively now

@AsgardRoot: Happened in the Kop corner too. TWICE!

@QPRdan3: I just don’t get why any fan would choose to record themselves during the biggest game they’ve had in years. Just watch the football and support your team

@mattburton72: I love the idea that a #avfc supporter was in there on a free ticket and just decided to start off a rumour for a laugh 😂

@Taity72: Hahahahaha there’s no worse feeling

@Jack__fpl: Quality 🤣

@flips1884: Not #bcfc fans using a chant that #dcfcfans were using during our darkest period while the bluenoses were mocking us MAKES THIS EVEN MORE SWEET!

@AJBDCFC: No way are they singing ‘we’ll fight till the end’ hahahaha is there any club who hates us that secretly doesn’t want to be us? #dcfc
