The audience were in stitches as Bill Belichick roasts Tom Brady about Birmingham’s relegation at a live Netflix event overnight.
It came during ‘The Roast of Tom Brady’ with renowned NFL coach Bill Belichick making a dig at Birmingham dropping down to League One.
The roast brought together comedians and NFL stars to humorously take to mock Tom Brady, who in 2023 became a minority Birmingham owner and chair of the club’s advisory board.
Belichick, who has achieved great success with Brady at the New England Patriots, made an unexpected appearance at the roast, introduced by Will Ferrell (who played his character Ron Burgundy) with the Imperial March from Star Wars played.
During Belichick’s piece, the 72-year-old took aim at Birmingham’s recent relegation, bluntly stating the team “suck”.
He said: “I see your soccer team Birmingham City got knocked down another tier in the English football leagues.
“For those not familiar with English football and the intricacies of their obscure regulation system… let me put it in English for you: they suck. Not so easy running a team, is it Tom?”
The audience and fellow roasters laughed, as you can see in the clip below…

Sad scenes at St Andrew’s 🙁

The live event took place just a day after Birmingham’s relegation was confirmed, with their 1-0 win over Norwich unable to keep them up as Blackburn, Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth Argyle all picked up wins.
Brady issued a brief tweet, writing on social media: Thank you for your support in a tough first year Bluenoses. We have a long way to go but it’s because of all of you that we’ll achieve great things in the future 💙.”
The day before Birmingham’s relegation, Brady was seen at the Formula One Miami Grand Prix on Friday, where he visited the Williams garage.
Brady’s passion for the club was questioned by fans, as he chose being across the Atlantic for the F1 instead of being at one of Birmingham’s biggest games in their history.

@penno_9: Don’t worry. You get 1st pick in the draft
@Tommygun2126: Stop thanking us and start getting in some players who want to put in a shift for a full season.
@Aaronnn_96: Bring Rooney back for the league one relegation battle pal
@turvey84: Have the people who decided to remove Eustace been sacked ? Disastrous and ridiculous decision.
@OP4C: League 1 Super Bowl winners!
@bcfcDJ: Why weren’t you there?
@BillyHollinshe4: Keep it up Mr Brady. 75% of the City is overjoyed at your “progress” so far. You’re an absolute diamond lad. UTV
@RattyAVFC: Tom you did a great job sending them down, best owners, many have struggled to take blues down but appointing Rooney, fair play mate! KRO
@KatyushaBoom: This is like the opposite of ‘Welcome to Wrexham”
@T2Mardybum: How did you manage to avoid all the cameras at the game today Tom?
@Boropod: Tom Brady won’t know what hits him when he rocks up to The Lamex on a Tuesday night in January to see his blues lose 1-0 despite having 85% possession, 28 shots while Stevenage have none.
@fordee24: 🤣🤣🤣🤣 keep right on Tom hopefully see you play my old club tamworth soon!
@Bluey_Bcfc: We still believe and still back the project 100% mate. Keep Right On we will get this right if we all work together.
@AshTheNeon: They turned out to be less Peaky Blinders and more Renford Rejects.
@DerbyTone: The arrogance of owners making football decisions is costly. Sacking a perfectly competent manager for one with no experience. Ask Mel Morris of Derby how many £ millions he lost before relinquishing the club. League One is treacle, and ‘big’ clubs often stay there for years!
@marchmist: No no thank you sir, what you have done with this club in such a short time is amazing (beyond our wildest dreams). This season has been an absolute joy. Keep up the good work, we have every faith in you x
@VillaRightWing: Excellent first season Tom. Keep up the good work and this time next year you could be in division 2 👏👏👏UTV
@jackstacpfc: Should never have binned off John Eustace for Wayne Rooney mate but here we are 🤷🏻♂️
@stewart_jones10: People moaned about previous owners today, but the worst of them never got the club relegated to the third tier, you lot did, you inherited a manager who had you in the play offs who you sacked, and went on to get relegated, you gotta remember that 🤦🏻♂️
@ssb6422: Made tough by poor management decisions @TomBrady we need players who will wear our shirt with pride or they need to be shown the door. And please let’s keep the same manager for more than a few months.
@LestahSam: Good idea sacking the manager in fifth wasn’t it? 🤣🤣
@swalcott42: Next year, let’s focus on the football related stuff first and foremost. Adopt a £20’s plenty policy and £5 for under 16s. Hit the ground running and the fans will respond. Please don’t charge big money for league 1 football.
@DanRenshawAVFC: keep it up Tom
@jimmyward100: Shocking from everyone involved with this club. Gutted isn’t the word right now, we need to bounce back but we are so far from that right now, I hope you know what your doing
@DavidJo20773066: We need to be out of the blocks quickly next season Tom. The uncertainty over who will be manager next season and the recruitment of players who can win us promotion needs to be a priority. The fans will always be there because this is our club, our heritage! KRO 💙
@TQ_Pilgrim: @TomBrady will be gutted as he leaves St.Andrews….. What? He wasn’t there? Well, knock me down…..
