The latest EFL TV selections have been revealed by broadcaster Sky Sports for the next few months, with some surprises.
Well this is rather different ay? We knew change was coming. The broadcast selections for the period up until to the end of September have now been confirmed, with every EFL team due to feature a minimum three times in total.
This will include an opening weekend fixture, a Carabao Cup tie and at least one regular weekend fixture on Sky Sports for all clubs. Usually we see most Championship teams picked a few times within two months, and barely any picks from Leagues One and Two.
But with an increase in matches available for fans on Sky Sports this season, with Sky Sports + launching next month, the EFL has also defined how TV selections will work for regular weekend matches selected for broadcast, and what this will look like.
In the latest batch of selections, two Lancashire derbies in the Championship, with Blackburn Rovers travelling to both Burnley and Preston North End, whilst last season’s League One champions Portsmouth host Luton Town at Fratton Park.
In League One, Birmingham City will face Wrexham in front of the Sky cameras in September and Bromley’s first-ever home game in the EFL is set for live coverage against AFC Wimbledon in League Two.
EFL fixtures will be broadcast via either an existing Sky Sports channel or Sky Sports +. This is a new way for fans to discover and stream live sport.
Integrated into the current Sky TV experience and the revamped Sky Sports mobile app, Sky Sports+ is available at no extra cost for subscribers of the full Sky Sports package.
All televised fixtures will also be available on streaming service NOW.

This is how fans reacted to the Latest EFL TV selections revealed by Sky Sports for up until the end of September…
@gompstomp78: Disgraceful, no thoughts for the fans who go to games. Plymouth away on a Friday night as a Luton fan! Absolutely disgusting
@rjcarp: The slippery slope of terrible kickoff times with no thought for the fans.
@HatterStew: EFL have completely wrecked football here. Away attendances are going to plummet which’ll have a massive impact on general stadium atmosphere. Unless this is your way of supporting non-league because punters will turn to that in their thousands now! Your loss is their gain.
@jonobullock8: Sky Sports Leeds!!
@JamesPB_1908: Sky Sports+ is one of the worst things to happen to the EFL in a long long time. Thursday 8PM KO’s for LG1 & 2 teams, and more 12:30pm KO’s. The death of the 3pm KO, disgraceful but not surprising from @SkySports and @EFL Thinking about fans last as per usual.
@ukbronco: We’ve escaped lightly with these early announcements but you can still kiss my arse with this nonsense, @EFL and @SkySports Fans always make the best of it but there are already some having to travel long distance for 12.30 kick offs. It’s only going to get worse. #saddlers
@TheDB30: I love football as much as the next person but there you can have too much of one thing. Brutal for match going fans this.
@LeagueOneLook: Dear EFL, Get rid of the 3pm Blackout. Many Thanks all who support an EFL club and have to travel to stupid places for 12:30 kick offs.
@Burnett__27: Sky coming in with these shitty Kick off times so fans call for the end of the 3pm blackout, Sky can then show all 3pm Premier League kick offs
@markwighty6: What an absolute sack of shit! Why on earth are the Premier League and now the EFL killing off the Saturday 3 o’clock kick offs?!
@neville69890387: Couldn’t give a toss about fans. All about money money money.
@paulfinney1969: Sky fucking up fixtures since 1992
