Tottenham Fans Furious After Shambolic 4-2 Loss to Wolves – Postecoglou Interview Adds Fuel to the Fire

Tottenham Hotspur’s season hit a fresh low with a 4-2 defeat away to Wolves on Sunday, triggering anger among fans and sparking intense debate around Ange Postecoglou’s leadership. The result marked Spurs’ 17th league defeat this season, leaving them in 15th place with just 37 points and six games remaining.

Wolves, meanwhile, celebrated an historic moment – four straight top-flight wins for the first time in 53 years. Manager Vítor Pereira even joined fans at the local Wetherspoons, enjoying post-match pints in a show of unity and celebration.

For Tottenham, the contrast couldn’t be starker. While one manager was toasting success with supporters, the other was facing criticism for a seemingly tone-deaf post-match interview, in which he claimed his side “controlled the game well.”

Postecoglou’s Reaction Baffles Fans

Speaking to Sky Sports, Postecoglou tried to remain composed. “It’s a funny old game,” he said. “The performance wasn’t too bad but the goals we conceded made it difficult for us. I thought we were in the game and controlled it well, but kept conceding really poor goals.”

He went on to suggest that nerves weren’t a persistent issue, saying: “It’s the first time I’ve seen it. It’s not creeping in, it just happened today.”

When asked about Vicario’s error, he defended the goalkeeper: “Vic has been outstanding for us. Mistakes happen, but they’ve all happened on the same day for us.”

Spurs fans weren’t impressed. Online reaction was overwhelmingly negative, with many accusing the manager of downplaying a terrible performance and failing to motivate a struggling squad.

Romero’s Tunnel Dash and Tel’s Thoughts

Captain Cristian Romero came under fire too, as cameras caught him heading straight for the tunnel after the final whistle without acknowledging the travelling support. Some fans interpreted this as a lack of respect and an early signal he may be on the way out this summer.

Spurs forward Mathys Tel, one of the few bright sparks on the pitch, gave an honest interview to BBC Sport: “It was difficult for us. We need some confidence for the next game. Sometimes we weren’t completely concentrated and made mistakes. I still trust this team. Hopefully we can go again and do better.”

He also shared Postecoglou’s message to the team: “He said keep going, don’t give up, try to make a difference. Try to score.” And to the fans? “Just stay with us, we need them.”

Wolves Ride the Wave

In contrast, Wolves’ Vítor Pereira was full of praise for his side after a polished display.

“We are consistent now,” he told Match of the Day. “We know the moments of the game and how to deal with them – when to press, when to hold. That’s the tactical maturity we’ve developed.”

Speaking to Sky Sports, he added: “I’m very happy with the team – the personality, the commitment, the confidence to play. We faced a strong team and deserved the result.”

He also lauded individual performances, particularly from Joao Gomes and Matheus Cunha: “Each day he gets better and better. But today I can’t say that any one player had a bad game.”

As for Cunha’s deleted social media post that upset fans? “We are a family,” said Pereira. “We are together, we are committed. Our supporters are part of our family, and Cunha is our family too.”

Social Media Explodes

@GaryRWard: I’m sorry, did I watch a completely different game?

@AnthonyH7: Seriously mate. Laughing stock.

@Ads_35: We let in 4 goals against Wolves!! FFS get him out now!! Also look at the camera you clown

@Pete_1903: “Well in the game” and “controlled it” – we were losing from the second minute until the end!

@Martin_Buhagiar: We conceded in the first minute and were never in it. Madness.

@Scott_delaney15: These interviews are painful to watch. The bloke is drowning in his own delusion.

@TalkoftheSpurs: NOBODY is finding this funny! Another pathetic performance from your bunch of loser players! #AngeOUT

Where Next for Spurs?

With six games left, Tottenham’s season hangs in the balance. The top four is a distant dream, and even a Europa League spot seems uncertain. Morale appears low, and the manager’s public message no longer aligns with what fans are seeing on the pitch.

There are growing calls for a summer overhaul, both in the dugout and the dressing room. Whether the board backs Postecoglou or looks for new leadership will be one of the most important decisions of the post-season.

Meanwhile, Wolves look safe and confident under Pereira’s stewardship. The atmosphere around the club is positive, and their recent run shows how quickly fortunes can change with the right attitude, tactical discipline, and unity between players and fans.
