Tottenham fans angered by shambolic 4-2 defeat to Wolves and Ange’s post-match interview

Tottenham fans have been left angered by the shambolic 4-2 defeat to Wolves and Ange’s post-match interview with Sky Sports.

Wolves made it four in a row in the top division for the first time in 53 years by inflicting Tottenham’s 17th defeat of the Premier League season.

Vítor Pereira’s side climb up to 16th, with West Ham falling to 17th, and both are 14 points clear of the drop zone.

Spurs’ lowest ever Premier League points total is 44 (1997/98), but they are currently 15th and 37 points with 6 games remaining.

While Tottenham were making the miserable journey back home, Vítor Pereira was buzzing, heading to a Wetherspoons to celebrate with players.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou speaking to Sky Sports:

“It’s a funny old game, the performance wasn’t too bad but the goals we conceded made it idifficult for us. I thought we were in the game and controlled it well, but kept concede realy poor goals.”

Are nerves to blame?

“It’s the first time I’ve seen it. It’s not creeping in, it just happened today.”

Did you speak to Guglielmo Vicario at half-time after his mistake?

“No, Vic has been outstanding for us. Mistakes happen, but they’ve happened all on the same day for us.

They’re clearly not happy and they shouldn’t be. I’m not happy and the players aren’t happy.”

Spurs forward Mathys Tel speaking to BBC Sport“It was completely difficult for us. We need some confidence for the next game, today we were unlucky to lose this game. We have to keep going and stay together. it’s about concentration, sometimes we were not completely concentrated so made mistakes.

“We have to level up, we need to play our football. Today was unlucky but I trust in my team. Hopefully we can go again and do better.”

What did Ange Postecoglou say? “He said keep going, don;t give up, try to make a difference. Try to score.

His message to the fans: “Just stay with us, we need them.”

Wolves boss Vitor Pereira speaking to BBC Match of the Day:

On Wolves winning four straight Premier League games for the first time: “It’s the first time? This is good for us. We are consistent now, now we know very well the moments of the game and how to deal with them. Sometimes we need to wait and sometimes be compact and play on the counter, sometimes we have space to play with the ball, sometimes fast and sometimes slow down. In this moment we have the tactical maturity.”

On Matheus Cunha: “He knows his quality, he knows the team was playing good games and winning [without him], in the right moment that we need him he said ‘yes I am here to help the team’.”

Wolves fans had a flag that read ‘first the points, then the pints’ – will you be having a pint tonight?

“Every time! Work is work, but after the work we need to celebrate to gether. I need to feel the energy of these people and be part of the family.”

Pereira speaking to Sky Sports: “I’m very happy with the team, the personality, the committment, the organisation, the confidnece toplay. We faced a strong team but in my opinion we deserved the result.

“I believe as a manger you transmit your personality to the players. I am ambitious guy, I want more and more. This is the image I ask the players to send to the supporters. We have a team that can reach other targets.

“I felt my team in the first half took time to understand how to use the space behind Tottenham, but we then did better.

“Joao Gomes played a fantastic game. Each day he gets better and better. But today I cannot say that one player did not have a good game.”

On Matheus Cunha deleting a social media post that angered some fans:

“We are together, we are committed, we are a family and the supporters are our family. Cunha is our family. Together we can be stronger and stronger.”

Twitter users reacted with Tottenham fans angered by the shambolic 4-2 defeat to Wolves and Ange’s post-match interview…

@s33spurs: NOT BAD AT ALL, THEY ONLY PUT 4 PAST US LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

@GaryRWard: I’m sorry, did I watch a completely different game

@AnthonyH7: Seriously mate. Laughing stock.

@Ads_35: We let in 4 goals against wolves!! Ffs get him out now!! Also look at the camera you clown

@YIDKID07: Well it fucking was, the goals we even got were by pure luck and through pure scrappiness, we had nothing else, we played round the back for 90 mins and made 17th place Wolverhampton Wanderers look like a top 6 prem team, yet we’re 15th only because of injuries?? Okay Ange

@MaxMandelthfc: Don’t know about anyone else but I always got bought up to look at someone when talking to them

@Pete_1903: “Well in the game” and “controlled it” but were losing from the 2nd minute until the end 🤣

@thurlow007: Is the script on the floor? Why can’t he ever look up at an interview? 🤷‍♂️

@BertBarnes21: Hanging his head in shame! Give it up Ange mate! 🤣

@thfcdaryl: “Controlled it really well” were we at the same game, mate?

@LukeSpurs85: We should be fighting for a champions league place at this point in the season, any pressure related to being lower in the table and having to rely purely on Europa League success is 100% on the players. Why can’t Ange come out and say the obvious rather than skirting around it

@Martin_Buhagiar: ‘Well in the game’ – we conceded in the first minute and were never in it. ‘First time I’ve seen it’ when asked about the errors we see every week. Complete madness. You’ve just conceded four goals to the team who were 17th which is exactly where we are going to end up.

@Scott_delaney15: Fucking hell these are painful to watch. Bloke is drowning in his delusion

@GoonerGirl1969: I think he’s doing a great job and I’m completely happy for him to stay in his current position…

@TalkoftheSpurs: I guarantee you, NOBODY is finding this funny! It was another pathetic performance from your bunch of loser players! #COYS #THFC #Spurs #Tottenham #WOLTOT #AngeOUT
