Worrying news was revealed this morning stating that Parminder Basran’s potential takeover of Bolton Wanderers has collapsed with the club face a winding-up order at court tomorrow.
The Cheshire businessman looked for a while that he was the frontrunner to take control of the club and still could according to a journalist’s tweet.
Alan Nixon, who has been keeping fans in the loop over the ongoing situation, stated on Twitter: “Basran walked away over the cost and rising extras. So would only take a compromise to make him walk back. But that call would probably have to come from Anderson.”

It currently means if the winding-up order against the Championship club is successful – something hoped would be prevent if a new owner was found before then – it could lead them to go into administration and receive a 12-point deduction as a result.
Around a week or so ago, Bolton owner Ken Anderson revealed that the February salaries for players and coaching staff were finally paid in full. The club’s training ground also closed recently due to there being a shortage on food, drink, supplies and diesel for the generator.
Looking at fans’ tweets to journalists…
One fan wrote: According to Jim White on TalkSPORT today, he’s spoken to Ken Anderson and he can’t come on Talk Sport for confidentiality reasons, however there is more than one buyer interested! Also he said he’s unsure if we are in court tomorrow! He’s not got a clue has he.
Alan Nixon replied: Oh yes. The old Mystery Rival Bidder move. Never saw that coming. Have to prove that to court I suspect.
Another user asks: Most likely outcome in your opinion? Sale Pre-court? Admin? Liquidation? Sale Post-court?
Nixon wrote back: Whatever is best for Anderson. Most profit. Still not figured out what route that is. Probably a sale. Last minute.
Someone else said: Do you have any thoughts on the @EFL throughout all this. Surely they should be helping to protect a founder member. Instead Shaun Harvey praises Anderson on the radio. They’re a joke, not fit for purpose!
Nixon replied: I believe they are active behind the scenes. Look at how quickly the players got paid after they protested. That was no coincidence in my book. I think people were told to sort their shit out.
Fans continued to give their reaction on the story coming out this morning, majority sad and worried at the situation, others are stunned at how it’s allowed to happen that one of the EFL’s founding clubs is potentially going under – find out what they tweeted on the next page.
