Burnley and West Ham fans make their feelings known as their sides’ winless run extends to three league games.

Fair to say it’s been a disappointing start to life back in the second tier for these two clubs relegated from the Premier League last season. The other team to have gone down, Wolves, are unbeaten in their opening three.

The Clarets suffered a 4-1 defeat away at Norwich and ended the game with 10-men, Mohamed Toure opening the scoring two minutes in, Andre Brooks doubled on 5 minutes, then Toure made it three for the Canaries on 21 minutes.

Josh Laurent got Burnley one back on 27 minutes, but Brooks got his second and Norwich’s fourth with just over 20 minutes of the second half remaining, then Laurent got sent off shortly after.

Meanwhile for West Ham, they are still on the search for their first win of the season, holding on to a 1-1 draw away at Watford.

Amin Nabizada put the Hornets one up on the 19th minute, before a Mattie Pollock on goal just beofre the half hour mark had the Hammers level.

West Ham ended up being booed off with a chant of ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’ sang from the away end come full time.

Watford’s Alessio Dionisi said, as per Sky Sports: “I believe in Amin – I did not know him before I arrived but he played well in every pre-season game.

“I’m happy for him, I’m happy for my team and a positive result is even better. Now I wait for other players to score because it is impossible for Amin to score in every match.

“Before I asked him how many times he had scored in his career and he said zero – now he has two goals.

“One month ago, when we looked at the first three games, it looked terrible for us. But for me, every match is an opportunity for my team and now we have five points it feels better than a month ago.

“I believe in my team and I hope some new players will arrive. I don’t know how many or when and I’m sure the club works hard for this. But it is impossible to play with only two centre backs in every match.”

West Ham’s Nuno: “Pressure is on us every day. We are a big club and we are favourites to go up. We have two points from three games, so who’s happy?

“But I believe – I trust my boys and I work very hard with them. We are building a team and things will change, I’m positive.

“The fans are the most important part of our club and I respect them so much. I understand everything, I respect every opinion.

“I just ask again, keep believing, keep trusting us, keep going and a win must come – hopefully it will be at the London Stadium on Tuesday. We need it.

“I have nothing to say about the players’ attitude and belief, and they are more important for us moving forward, believing in the process and the way we are doing things. We’re positive that we’re going to click – we’re going to do it.”

He said to talkSPORT’s Ben Jacobs regarding chants from fans: “I understand. It’s true, the results are not coming, but we have to support ourselves, try to remain together.

“The support of the fans are essential for us to play better, for the boys to show all the talent that they have on the pitch.

“Once again, I ask them to keep supporting and helping us.”

On if he felt under pressure, Nuno replied: “We have pressure every day at West Ham. We are a huge club.

“This is what we are chasing.”

 

Norwich’s Philippe Clement, as per Sky Sports: “There were a lot of positives – and obviously getting the three points is the main one.

“We all want entertaining football and we got that in the opening game against West Brom but without the right result.

“We were much more efficient, especially in the first half. We were good both on and off the ball, brave in our pressing, and created chances. With the goals going in there was an amazing atmosphere in the stadium.

“The boys put in a top performance against a good opponent, with many of their players in the Premier League last season.

“It was good to see them showing their true identity – something that was missing at Millwall. We were given a harsh lesson there and hopefully we have learned from it.”

Burnley’s Nicky Hayen: “I can understand the frustration of the fans after what happened last season – and how we have started this one – but we need time.

“It shouldn’t be the case that the best player on the pitch for us (Chelsea loanee Dastan Satpayev) is an 18-year-old making his way in the game.

“We are working hard to bring new players in and I will be at the club first thing tomorrow to try and make things happen.

“We are trying to create a team here and I think everyone could see there were good bits from us.

“But when you concede so early on it doesn’t help – it was a mistake, which isn’t something you can legislate for – and for the second we should have got the ball away before they had a chance to score.

“It has been a tough start but I am optimistic we will turn things around.”

We are 5 points behind Wolves already and let’s be honest we didn’t play well against them last season! Lose next week and that’s 2 points from 12 games. Relegation form that is.
