He can be heard saying in part of his speech: “Every single member of staff, what stands in here, lads. We want them every single day for us to get us to the best position we can possibly be at.
“Dedication, sacrifice, boys. I think every single one of us, you’re all part of this, and a massive round of applause for every single one.
“Thank you for everything. And, again, I’m sure the lads will be saying the same.
“And then lastly, lads, from me, I probably get a little bit emotional because I’ve been on this journey many of your time, boys, and I think I’ve said it to you either.
“I know I’ve been around a better group. The commitment you give us I know what the journey looks like, and I’ve walked into this place ten months ago, lads. And the reason I walked in, like I said to you, is because I see pay people on a bit of paper boys. And they wanted to let go in here that that bit of paper was was evident that I knew who was getting promoted, lads. So I’m sorry.
“I’m a little bit emotional. I’m absolutely delighted. I’m buzzing. I’ve got a beer here. I’m absolutely buzzing.
“What you do to me, lads, is good. It’s good. It’s what you do to me. It’s a rollercoaster.”
He said, per the club media, after winning promotion: “We knew the challenges, that this was a relentless league. It is very challenging, so I’m delighted for everyone at the football club at what we’ve achieved.
“There were some tough moments but they bring out the best in people and we reacted in the right way by becoming stronger as a group. There were of course some hard times but it brought us all closer together and has got us to this point so immensely proud of everyone.
“It is emotional for me because of the pride I have in the group. It feels very different to what I’ve done before, not just the group but the whole football club. When I first walked in there was a warmth, there was a love, a support and this gave me energy as a coach.
“Sometimes it can be a lonely place as a coach but the support I’ve had has coincided with this group of players. There were bumps in the road but that brought us together even more and I’m absolutely buzzing.
“They were fantastic today and have stood by me and stood by the group.
“They have given us massive support to get us over the line and tonight was evidence of that. That is why we do it – we do it for the fanbase who are the cornerstone of every club. They stay forever and I hope they have a good night and are proud of this group.
“They [the players] give everything for this shirt and that is enough for me. There are moments or mistakes but this group has given everything for the cause this year and wore that shirt with massive pride.”
Twitter users reacted as Scott Parker holds back tears in his dressing room speech as Burnley are promoted to the Premier League…
@jonny_spittle: Special that leading a group of men to achieve what they set out to do nothing better than being in that changing room environment achieving whatever you set out to do regardless of the goal set or whatever level may be enjoy every bit 👏🏻
@ParkersCardigan: Will admit there’s been a few times this season where I’ve lost my head while this man’s been keeping his. An absolute class act. Love Scotty Parker. Hope we show it him some love in the last few games & back him next year when the going gets tough 💜🩵 #twitterclarets
@kami_claret: We cannot decimate the group that gets us promoted like we did last time we went up. Some changes yeh, but clearly there is a really special bond here and we will need that more than ever next season 🥹 @AlanPaceBFC
@danpatfraz: Clearly someone is chopping onions near me as I watch this!! #UTC #twitterclarets
@TurfCastPodcast: Love this, can tell the lads love the gaffer. Comes across as such a good man manager too.
@jackcollison: Love it Scotty. What a man 💙⚽️
@Shawn_Hoagland: Just absolutely brilliant — This man, this squad, this Club 💜🩵 I’d run through a brick wall for them all—what an unbelievable season. Up the Mighty Premier League Clarets! #UTC #twitterclarets
@AMAClaret: No doubt Scott Parker has proven all his doubters wrong, I was far too early to jump on the negative bandwagon and have eaten my words ever since. Seeing this, no matter what happens next year I think Scott is long term, he has long term plans and vision and I’m fully behind him!
@ronaallleeds: Tbf he’s a class act – pleased for them too tbh they’ve been superb and deserved it – I hope we pip them to title but we’ve both got what we deserved this season in promotion.
@anthonylockton: Seems a really good guy, Scotty. Look at the way this season has panned out, the ups and downs, and all the post match interviews that followed them. Parker and Farke were always model professionals. They took criticism, and plowed on. Can’t say the same for a certain someone.
@ITFCKurty: I actually think they might have a chance at staying up next season. They are based on a solid defence will have to keep the same tactics 100% Feel like us, Leicester and Southampton were too gung ho and defensively naive
Scott Parker feels like a blend between Owen Coyle and Sean Dyche. Has Coyle's humble, lovable nature, as you can see with the squad's love for him. Equally, he has Dyche's "whatever it takes" approach as opposed to being wedded to a philosophy. #twitterclarets https://t.co/pZ7Z3YXh66
