James Trafford struggles to keep his composure as Ashley Barnes listens to his interview

James Trafford struggles to keep his composure as fellow teammate Ashley Barnes stands nearby and listens to his live TV interview.

The wind up that is Ashley Barnes watched on beside the keeper as he spoke with Sky Sports ahead of the 8pm kick off.

But as much as James Trafford tried his hardest not to react to Ashley Barnes, even giving the side eye, he couldn’t hold it in much longer and they both were in hysterics mid-chat.

Interviewer: A lot of people talk about this defensive record that Burnley have got, but the clean sheets that you’ve been collecting as well, and you need one more to equal the all time record for league clean sheets in the top four divisions. I bet you you couldn’t think this season would have gone as well as it has.

James: Yeah. It’s been a good season. We had a lot of fun, and we’ve done really well. So, yeah, it’s good to get records, but we just wanna win games.

Interviewer: Just five more to go as well.

James: Yeah. Five more to go, but take every day as it comes.

Interviewer: What about this test that Norwich will present to you tonight here at Turf Moor in the lead up to what could be achieved this season? They’ve had a sort of bit of hit and miss season, haven’t they?

James: Yeah. Obviously, we got Ashley Barnes from Norwich, and, yeah, he’s got nothing but good things to say about them. And Jay said how good they are So so, yeah, we’ve got a very tough game coming up, and it’ll be a really good game.

Interviewer: Ashley Barnes is just alongside you here thoroughly enjoying what you were saying. But you have got that whole spirit and that whole vibe, haven’t you? Nobody can take that away.

James: Yeah. We love coming to work… *laughs”

Ashley: He’s gone wrong.

Interviewer: James, would you like to continue and finish off?

James: Yeah. We, it’s great crack coming in every day. We sold together as a group and it’s one of the reasons why we’re doing really well. Good stuff and go well tonight. Thank you.

Goals from Hannibal Mejbri and Jaidon Anthony helped Scott Parker’s Clarets inch closer to automatic promotion, with 88 points from 42 games played and taking quite a lead at the top to the Championship table.

Norwich meanwhile sit 11th, their hopes of finishing in the playoff places diminishing.

Burnley head coach Scott Parker, per Sky Sports:

“I’ve been involved in this division many a time and games often do turn out like that, with a one-goal swing, and sometimes they can become a little bit edgy.

“Full credit to the team because I thought we were superb first half, dominated every phase of our game in terms of our positioning and attacking threat.

“We set a tone about us today which I was immensely pleased with. What I asked of the team was a huge challenge; we’re coming out of being the wrong side of a fixture list this week and we’ve not had a lot of time to prep. What I asked of them, I knew it was going to be demanding on us in terms of energy and legs and the boys executed it very well.

“We came into tonight’s game, first and foremost, wanting to win the game. We’re at the back end of the season where three points are crucial.

“We’ll be disappointed about the way we’ve conceded tonight, from a set-play, where we’ve been pretty rock-solid.

“But I’m pleased we came away with the objective; walking into this stadium, there was energy, enthusiasm and we showed our quality. Fundamentally, make sure we came away with three points – and that’s what we’ve managed to do.

“We box this one off, we have four left. We now go to Watford. I’m pleased we’ve got a week to prep and some more time to do some work.”

Norwich head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup:

“We hoped we would look better in the second half because we planned the changes, so we knew we were going to do them, latest, after 60 minutes.

“We knew we would try to play a little bit slower, more compact game in the first half where we could concede not too many chances, then in the second half, see if we could open up a little bit. The plan was not to be 2-0 down before we made that change.

“The first goal was not good enough. We didn’t recognise the ball in behind well enough or early enough and we didn’t prepare with our body shape and position. That simply has to be better. The second goal is a difficult one to avoid.”

Jaidon Anthony speaking to Sky Sports:

“The crowd were massive for us, especially in that second half we needed them, there were a lot of vibes in the first half.

“The boys are top and the fans helped us get through it.”

Speaking on the second half:

“Norwich controlled the game around the back and it was difficult to get near them on the press, but I thought we managed it well. Obviously it was disappointing to have conceded from a set-piece, but we are buzzing with the win.

“We just want to have a good time and it is always good when we are winning.”

Hannibal speaking to Sky Sports:

“We work really hard with the coaches after training.

“It was an important game, and it is my first goal and I am happy I can help the team finally.

“We are very happy to be in this position and now we need to keep going and enjoy it and keep the vibes up.

“There are too many vibes in the changing room, it is so good to be in there.”

Fans reacted as James Trafford struggles to keep his composure as Ashley Barnes listens to his interview…

@insideturfmoor: Would love a few beers with Traff 🤣 @BurnleyOfficial #twitterclarets

@MagpieMediaX: Such a likeable bloke. #NUFC

@foreverayellow: james trafford is just sound isn’t he, seems like such a good character to have around, better than most keepers in the premier league today, wonder if he’ll get a big move this summer

@NUFCLC: Might come back to bite me but “boring” Burnley will have the most chance of staying up for a promoted side recently. The failure of the promoted teams in recent years has been they forget what league they’re in and think they’re Brazil. Being hard to beat is the only way

@RichySouthern: Seems a top lad. He’ll fit right in (if it happens) 😅 Doubt we’ll be the only club interested in him now either.

@AdiDazzlerClark: I think there will be half a dozen clubs looking at him to be honest. He’s the future England no1 as well isn’t he as Pickford won’t go forever

@thetooncentre: I reckon Manure will try and drive the price up. Thankfully we have Euro
