Promotions to the Premier League have been secured as Leeds United thrash Stoke 6-0 and Burnley win 2-1 to end Sheffield United’s hopes.
Leeds put in a comfortable performance with Joel Piroe claiming four with Firpo and Gnonto also on the scoresheet.
We knew that a defeat or a draw for the Blades (vs Burnley in the evening kick off) would confirm the Whites’ place in top flight.
Burnley went on to also win a place back in the top flight, Josh Brownhill’s first-half double put them 2-1 up against Sheffield United with victory guaranteeing promotion. Tom Cannon’s first goal for the Blades had drawn them level at Turf Moor.
And Leeds fans after their game were watching the late kick off outside their ground…

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke told BBC Radio Leeds:
“To deliver such an emphatic performance is really amazing and all the credit goes to the boys for the way they have handled the situation and the spirit they have shown in recent weeks.
“It’s the fate of a striker that sometimes you have a dry period or a dip in form. Joel had this but he has worked so hard and got himself out of it.
“In the last few weeks his performances were better but the ball didn’t want to go in the net. It’s a bit like shaking a bottle of ketchup, all of a sudden everything comes out and that was a bit the case today.
(On Harry Gray’s debut) “I couldn’t paint a better day for it to be honest. He wasn’t just on the pitch because his name is Gray. I don’t like to praise a young lad too early or too much but we believe in his potential. It was not a gift today, he has earned his position in the squad.”
Stoke City boss Mark Robins told BBC Radio Stoke:
“We didn’t compete. You can lose against anyone and especially to teams at the top of the league who will be in the Premier League next season but we gave them the freedom of the stadium. We didn’t lay a glove on them.
“We made mistakes without trying to do something right. We looked fearful to take part in a game that we looked like we didn’t belong in.
“I’m not going to over-react. You don’t get too high or too low. I don’t have the luxury of dwelling on it, I have to make sure we are back on it on Friday.
“Anyone who thought we were home and dry, that is a kick in the teeth. The performance wasn’t befitting of anyone from any team let alone anyone from my Stoke City team.”
Burnley head coach Scott Parker told BBC Radio Lancashire:
“The ambition and the target at the start of the season was to get back to the Premier League and we’ve managed to do that so I’m hugely proud of the squad.
“It’s come down to real, pure commitment from every one of the players, their dedication and the sacrifice that they’ve made, that leads us to this point.
“In this moment, I explained to the lads, that there is emotion from me because I see the commitment that every one has brought.
“We live in a world where you win or you lose and you get judged and at the end of the season you’re either promoted or not and that’s how quickly people will judge it.
“I’m just delighted all that work, all that effort, all that sacrifice has been worth it and people can see it. The facts are if you don’t get promoted people can see it.”
Burnley captain Josh Brownhill speaking to Sky Sports: “I’m speechless. All that hard work this season.
“We’ve been written off so many times, people calling us boring. We’ve bored our way to the Premier League.
“It takes a whole team; it’s not just a back four, a goal keeper, it takes everybody.
“I don’t think a lot of the lads will sleep. I’m so buzzing for the lads that haven’t played Premier League football.”
Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder told BBC Radio Sheffield:
“For those two teams [Leeds and Burnley] to have the ability to hit 100 points shows what the division is like, and we’re the third best team in the division.
“The season went to the 44th game and we had a right go, and created some good chances. The goals have killed us, we conceded two poor goals – we have to do better on the clearance and the penalty hands the initiative back to them.
“We would have needed 95, 96, 97 points to go up. It’s an insane season.
“There will be some big games now. The home game [of the play-offs] at Bramall Lane will be off the scale. We’ve got to dust ourselves down and go again and we will do that.
“We want to go and get 90-odd points, that’s the target.”
“Don’t scare me with the Premier League!”
