Premier League player arrested on suspicion of rape

Reports have emerged, claiming that one particular Premier League player has been arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment and rape.

Sportsmail say that they are aware of the player’s identity but is unable to reveal it for legal reasons, and understandably so.

The incident is being alleged to have taken place at the footballer’s home last month – October – and was then arrested there on Wednesday morning.

The unnamed Premier League player has been released under police investigation and pending further enquiries.

The player was also issued with a fine along with a woman who was at the same address when police arrived to execute a warrant for breaching Covid-19 regulations.

Police issued a statement to Sportsmail on Thursday confirming the age of the suspect, and that officers had executed a warrant at the address and arrested a man ‘on suspicion of rape and false imprisonment’.

The statement added: ‘He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.’

It comes months after Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi was arrested by police officers in the early hours of a Sunday morning back in May after having a 4am row with a model he met online.

The Metropolitan Police have also released the following statement: “Police and London Ambulance Service were called at 3.53am on Sunday, May 17 to a report of an unwell woman.

“When emergency services attended, a woman reported that she was raped. A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of rape.”

He has been released on bail, before articles from the Athletic and the Telegraph quoted the MailOnline, in reporting that Hudson-Odoi is arguing that he’s innocent.

He wrote on Twitter: “At a time where there are bigger things happening in the world right now, you may also be aware of serious allegations that were made against me.

“I have stayed silent and assisted the police fully throughout their enquiries, as I knew the day would soon come when my name would be cleared.

“Following a full and thorough investigation, the police have now confirmed they will take no further action.”

The Athletic told their readers: When asked about the charges, a representative of Hudson-Odoi, who said he was speaking on the player’s behalf, told MailOnline “He says he’s innocent.

“That’s all you need to know. He’s innocent, he hasn’t done anything wrong.”

Fast forward a few months to June 2020 and the England international learned that he will not face any further action on an allegation of rape.

The forward, who has broke lockdown rules and yet had previously had coronavirus, added: “I would like to use this platform to thank everyone who has stood by my side and supported me during this difficult period.

“I have learned that being a footballer and playing for one of the best clubs in the world comes with a great responsibility, and going forward I will try and use my platform as a Chelsea player to be the best role model that I can be.”

And six months ago, we reported how another unknown Premier League player was accused of being part of a ‘gang rape’ at a lockdown party by a woman who says her drink was spiked, however he wasn’t arrested.

The alleged victim, who can’t be named for legal reason, says she went to police after waking up next to the footballer, and that a friend said she wasn’t in “any state” to consent to sexual intercourse.

It is reported that the “gang rape” took place in the player’s rented flat with his friends.

The woman had no memory of what happened on the night apart from having two drinks and is scared that she may have been assaulted by “a number” of the player’s friends at the party.

One of the woman’s friends said she was “acting strangely” as well as “out of character”.

After waking up next to the footballer the following morning, she discovered scratches on her legs, and asked him what had happened.

She claims the player, who was also naked, said that they had sex.

The friend told the Daily Star: “She could barely stand the night before, there is no way she was in any state to consent to sex.”

The victim says she received a phone call from an unknown person a day after the incident from someone who claimed that the player and his friends spiked her drink.

She says she went to police and made the rape allegation and has since interviewed by detectives and examined by forensic medical staff and doctors.

An investigation into the alleged incident was reportedly launched, and we are yet to see anymore come from it.
