Mourinho names six teams he thinks can win the Premier League this season

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho names which six teams he thinks can potentially cause his side a problem and win the Premier League this season.

It’s been an unpredictable season so far, with those in European qualifying places consisting of Leicester, Tottenham, Liverpool Southampton, Chelsea and Aston Villa.

Man City, Arsenal and Man Utd however sit further down the table after seven/eight games played so far in the 2020/21 season and will really need to improve their form if they want to get those all important Champions League/Europa League places.

He says that Tottenham have the quality to win any domestic league in Europe but it’s difficult in the Premier League because there are so many strong teams who can challenge. Then he named the six that are the only ones Spurs needs to worry about.

“I would say that this team could be champion in many European countries,” Mourinho said.

“The Premier League is the most difficult one to be, because in the Premier League you can do a good season, can have lots of points, but in the end… Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Man United, Leicester, Arsenal.

“So you can have a good season and not be champion. So what can we do? We go match after match. We try to win, we don’t care about the others.

“I promise you I’m not worried about Leicester v Wolves, or City v Liverpool. If Liverpool wins, it is because City loses points. If Leicester wins, it is because Wolves dropped points.

“So I don’t care, I just want the team to play match after match, and then at the end of the season let’s see where we are.”

Spurs are yet to drop a point since surrendering a three-goal lead against West Ham last month.

Mourinho claims that his squad members have learned from those mistake and have put it behind them.

“I said that we were speaking a lot about it and working a lot about that situation. I am not going to say we are not going to lose matches or lose points in the last minutes, it can happen to anyone,” Mourinho said.

“We felt the pain against West Ham and since then strategically the team is behaving in a different way.

“The two clean sheets at Burnley and this afternoon showed the lesson – a team in the last five minutes that was very solid, it looked like the pain made a positive effort and the team improved after that.”

After years of hard work and great support from the owners little Leicester is now mixing with the big boys without the net spend compared to the others…. Proud of my football club

Lee Dennhardt: Mind games he’s great at em

Paul Southwell Petherbridge: If he can get spurs to the top and win the league he’s done outstanding

Qaraaxo Balad: Mind games again

Mark Phillips: Won’t be long before the huge ego that is Jose mourinho is languishing in mid table where he belongs

Glenn Supawadee: Deflecting pressure and title talk away from Spurs

Chris Gwyther: Sad angry miserable unlikable man since he left Chelsea

Shubham Atul Kumar Joshi: Old Jose tactics

Meanwhile, Harry Kane believes Tottenham are in a position to finally “achieve things” this season under Jose Mourinho.

“We have had a solid start to the season, I still think there is a lot to improve on in all aspects of our game,” the England captain told Spurs TV.

“There is a long way to go, we are in a solid place at the moment. We are feeling good, but we also know in the Premier League that can turn around if you lose two or three on the bounce.

“The last couple of wins have been important, we perhaps didn’t perform as well but we ground out the results.

“We have got players who have won things in the changing room, we have got good experience in the changing room, good leaders in the changing room, and I feel like we are at a place now where if we get it right mentally, we can achieve things, but we are not getting carried away.

“Obviously Jose is a winner at every level, he has come in with that aura about him and he wants to win things here.

“It is just installing that confidence into the team, he is a great man, with great experience, so [that] us as players can only look at that and take confidence from that. We have had a great relationship since he walked through the door.”
