Newcastle fan gets ejected after being caught celebrating in the Blackburn end

A Newcastle fan gets ejected out of Ewood Park after being caught celebrating his side’s FA Cup win while in the Blackburn end.

Philip Flitcroft (@flitcrof1) uploaded the clip, and captioned it: “What a prick, sat in the Blackburn end and stands up and gives it loads when Newcastle score ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ”

The away end was packed full with over 7,400 Newcastle fans in attendance, but it seems a few Magpies supporters snuck into the home end and riled up those around them.

Stewards were called upon to kick the fan out, getting verbal abuse and a few items chucked towards him ad he was being escorted.

Newcastle were required a penalty shootout to knock out an inspired Blackburn Rovers side at Ewood Park on Tuesday night; with Anthony Gordon’s second-half opener cancelled out by Sam Szmodics’ sixth FA Cup goal this season.

Next up, Newcastle will be hosting Wolves on Saturday in an attempt to recover from their disappointing defeat against Arsenal last weekend. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 3pm.

Blackburn head to Swansea on Saturday as they look to ease their relegation concerns in the Championship on Saturday, with kick-off also at 3pm.

Newcastle United matchwinner Martin Dubravka speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “It was a very difficult match. A lot of chances on both sides and all of a sudden we had penalties. It is a lottery but I am glad I could help the team.”

On the penalty shootout: “I think we were well prepared. We analyse everything and try to bring it on the pitch. I need to mention the goalkeeper coaches who make it much easier for me.”

On the impact of the result: “I hope it will lift our confidence. We needed a lift after the Arsenal game and we created a lot of chances. We have to take the positives and we are in the next round and we are looking forward to it.”

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “I think there is only one emotion and that is relief. I think it was a hard-fought cup tie. Both sides gave everything to get the win and didn’t give an inch but we are delighted to be in the hat for the next round.

“They packed the backline and packed the midfield so it was difficult for us to penetrate them. It could have been better but we got that first goal and it was a really well-worked goal.

“The lads kept their heads and remained calm and I think every penalty was taken well.

“I think when you see the season we have had and the situation we are in, this was never going to be an easy cup tie. Martin [Dubravka] made some great saves that we needed him to make and we also missed some golden opportunities in the final third.

“The most important thing is that our season cracks on and we are thrilled to get through to the next round.”

Blackburn boss John Eustace, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “I am extremely proud of the players. It was a group effort. If we are going to be successful at anything we do this year it is about the squad of players.

“That was our sixth game in 18 days so the squad was important tonight and everyone was at it.

“We are improving with every game we played and that was probably the best we played with the ball.

“I am also really proud of the supporters. It was a real club effort tonight.

“I have no problems with anyone missing penalties, I am proud of them for stepping up.”
