EXTENDED HIGHLIGHTS:

Sheffield United’s Chris Wilder: said, as per Sky Sports:

“We’ve moved into the top 10 tonight. Lost one all season. Yes, we’re not flowing, but we’ve got an attitude about us, got character about us.

“I didn’t enjoy Saturday (the loss against Norwich). I wanted a reaction. I asked for the players to dig in, scramble about, do jobs that some of them are not used to doing, getting players up to speed as well. You could see Hamza (Choudhury) was absolutely shot after the game he’s played, Ben (Brereton Diaz) as well.

“I asked for a gritty performance that represents me, the club, the city, and our team and we got that.

“For me, it’s always the result, and improve on the performance. I’m not one of those to improve on the performance and the results will come.

“I’m not embarrassed about winning games of football because we didn’t win a lot of games of football at the start of last year.”

Blackburn’s Tony Mowbray said:

“Ultimately, we lost a game and I think the goals we lost were very soft.

“The first one, goalkeeper kicked it out of his six-yard box down the middle of our pitch and within a few seconds, it’s in the back of our net. That’s just soft really, you’ve got to do the basics better.

“I think on the positive side, without seeing any data, it felt like we were pretty dominant in the game. It felt like we were the team that had the most shots, had the most chances, had the most – if we want to talk about data – expected goals.

“I think there’s lots of positives to be looked at. We got into some great areas. Less than a minute before they scored to equalise, we scored a goal that was marginally offside.

“We shot ourselves in the foot really. We weren’t ruthless enough. You can’t give games away like that, that you’re so dominant in.”

Here’s how fans reacted as Tony Mowbray and Chris Wilder react after Sheffield United come from behind to beat Blackburn…

@Blackburnfanat1: Players gave it their all. Manager did all he could. No fit centre forward, 1 experienced midfielder in the squad. Badly failed by the Venkys, Gestede & Pasha. #rovers

@ReportRovers: It’s sad the club have let these players down, they clearly want to fight but just not good enough. The people who run this club are cancerous, this only ever ends one way.

@LorryPoet: Summed up Mowbray’s teams. Played well, some nice football and were the better team, but Mowbray’s teams can’t defend. That’s 2 a game conceded so far this season. Pears is also an absolute disgrace. The less said about Venkys the better. We’ll be lucky to stay up.

@TJTykeo: Well done Gestede and Pasha you useless pairs of c****. Curwood needs to grow some balls and start doing his fucking job. Embarrassing window. Embarrassing ownership. Embarrassing club.

@Monty5493: Not gonna win many games when you can’t have one striker who will keep fit all season. The worst depth of squad I’ve ever seen us have. A better window would have helped massively. Feel for TM. @RudyGestede get the fuck away from our club. 🤡

@jordanks111: We are down never been more certain of anything. Teams the worst I’ve ever known, if I was Mowbray I’d walk. Not worth the stress

@KyleJoseph1987: It’s not bad luck, it’s incompetence. These lads are trying, but for the most part they’re shite and knackered! Ribeiro, Pears, Fevrier, Dapo etc should not be starting games in this league. They’re the players that should be on the bench instead of the 14 year olds. Relegation.

@aviationbyjames: can we please for the love of god start Cannon from now on, never thought I’d say it #sufc

@Michebb: 2 points off top and people want him sacked #sufc

@a_sufc: Credit to Wilder tonight took some stick off idiots over last 24 hours & got it back on tonight. Decision to drop Bamford & go with Cannon as lone striker paid off & subs helped us secure 3 points

@ArchieNewman3: Best I’ve seen Cannon in a blades shirt. Great run for his goal, physical and held ball up well. Big 3 points.

@CotherRichard: Great result.. Thought peck was outstanding. People have had there say. Cannon only 23.going to score goals. UTB ⚔️ #twitterblades

@Bailey_BLADEZ: Not a glamorous performance but we showed character and dug in. I’ve been critical of Peck over last few games but he was my MOTM tonight. Cannon👍🏽 and tuck his goal well. Thought CW got the subs spot on. 3pts UTB ⚔️
