A new video shows the moment punches were thrown as Wolves fans get caught in the West Brom home end during Sunday’s FA Cup clash.
Trouble flared after Wolverhampton Wanderers went 2-0 up at The Hawthorns with players making their way off the pitch concerned for the safety of family in the crowd.
Violence broke out in the 78th minute with police officers rushing various parts of the ground, trying to calm the situation down.
Play was stopped nearly 35 minutes with one fan seen being led away with blood covering his face and another going off on a stretcher.
Police confirm that said a total of five people had been arrested on suspicion of committing public order offences, while another male was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon before the match. The force confirmed a man had been taken to hospital with head injuries.
It kicked off in the stands, with ITV commentators claiming a number of Wolves fans had somehow bought tickets in the home sections of the stadium, being being found out by West Brom supporters.
@MarkAbel_28 wrote: “Was 5 rows in front of me. These Wolves fans made no secret of them being Wolves, started winding up Albion fans around them, got their phones out and recorded the wound up fans and played it back to them laughing. They were trying their best to provoke.”

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said via BirminghamLive: “Five people have now been arrested for public order offences relating to the disorder in the ground. Another man was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon prior to the match outside of the ground.”
In a statement to the Press Association, the force also said: “We have extra officers at this local derby and they responded immediately as disorder in the stands caused fans to spill onto the pitch. We worked with officials to get the game restarted as soon as possible. A man has been taken to hospital with head injuries.”
A Football Association statement read: “The disorder that occurred at the Black Country derby between West Bromwich Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers is completely unacceptable. Safety and security are of the utmost importance, and the behaviour of those involved is dangerous and inexcusable.
“We will be investigating these serious incidents alongside the clubs and the relevant authorities, and the appropriate action will be taken.”
“The match was temporarily halted in the 78th minute of the Emirates FA Cup fourth-round tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers following crowd disturbances.
“The club will work with West Midlands Police and the Football Association to fully investigate the incidents which resulted in a suspension to the game.
“Any individual involved in the disorder will be subject to a club ban, in addition to potential criminal investigation.
“The club will make no further comment until the conclusion of a full and thorough investigation.”

Speaking live on talkSPORT on Monday morning, Jeff Stelling said: “The game was overshadowed by the crowd trouble with the match suspended for 38 minutes.
“Those scenes of players pulling their kids from the crowd to make them safe were the sort of scenes you thought we were never going to see in English football again.”
McCoist then added: “It was horrendous, wasn’t it? Absolutely horrendous. It took me back a bit, I was at probably the worst in the last 50 years in a Scottish Cup final at Hampden when Rangers and Celtic fans were on the pitch after the game.
“That was probably the worst I’ve ever seen. This wasn’t as bad as that, but it did take my mind back to that. The thing that really affects people watching that is seeing young kids crying and having to be moved, not good at all.”
Meanwhile, reacting on the trouble via BBC Radio 5 Live’s 606 show on Sunday, Robbie Savage said: “This is terrible; it’s something nobody wants to see.
Chris Sutton added: “Absolutely appalling scenes. I saw on social media that Kyle Bartley had to go into the stands and get his kid out.
“These are scenes going back to the 70s and 80s – absolute madness. It must have been terrifying if you were at the ground.
“I just think it’s so sad in this day and age, with all the excitement around the derby, you then have to think twice about whether you take your kids to games because of the possibility of it kicking off. It’s not on. It must be putting people off.”

Here’s how Twitter users reacted as a new video shows the moment punches are thrown as Wolves fans get caught in the West Brom end…
@gerainthopkins: Rugby crowds aren’t segregated. I’ve often sat next to people supporting the other side. Never an issue. Perhaps they should experiment in letting football fans of both teams sit together.
@SteveBusbyPEC: Puts his hands up; half a dozen 50 year olds think it’s acceptable to attack him? Hope they all get found guilty of extreme cowardice!
@KieranCraig2016: Sounds like West Brom fucked up as a whole. How are so many rival fans ending up in the home end for a rivalry clearly as intense as these when it’s sold out😂
@Wattz040: I feel for the lad, he was leaving on his own accord. Then they start to gang up on him. No wonder why it kicked off.
@daveandwolves: Fuckin hard ay they them 4 whackin him from behind
@westywolves: That was big of them hitting a kid 👏🏻
@faiz__av: How did that many wolves fans get into the albion side and then why celebrate when you score 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
@fulham__pat: Turns up in the home end in a subtle white stone island and then holds his hands up and gets slapped like an absolute lemon. Very long day
@saley1984: Wolves have literally took the piss is every stand in the ground, how’s that happened 😂😂
@KatrinaLUFC28: Poor young lad had his hands up to show he did not want to fight, for them to to attack him. Disgraceful. It’s just a game of bloody football.
@Growlerxxx: …..when one fan objects to a fan of a different club sitting close by…. Put it into “everyday life” context, and the situation rarely blows up — but put it into football….. 💥💥 very sad times seeing the rest of the fighting – I hoped those days were long behind us
@slot27: The big hard man with the woolly hat giving it the judas punch from behind 🤦♂️
@garyparkin83: Disgraceful behaviour by both sets of fans there is kids and vulnerable people there
@ToadCfc: If you sit in the home end as an away fan and can’t keep it to yourself for 90 minutes can you really have any complaints?
@mathewgrtid: Going in the home end at a derby match, you’re asking for trouble. Especially if you celebrate
@victos1884: Beating children….extremely brave, well done 🥴
@kingofchezo_WBA: You need to condemn the Albion fan who bought and sold a ticket to a wolves fan more… they need banning for life they caused this
@BenjaminWba: Fault is with fans selling tickets / wolves fans buying tickets
@TimMiddleton6: All those Albion fans who left the Brummie Road end – looking for trouble – should also be punished. Life time ban seems perfectly suitable. Totally disgraceful behaviour witnessed today and a stain on the club.
@DeeKay_39: Look inwards! Selling tickets on the official site to anyone from Wolverhampton who had bought a special membership for £25, whilst blocking out real fans with a purchase history and loyalty points. You’ve brought this on us!
