Mo Salah confronts yobs harassing homeless man at petrol station – before handing rough sleeper cash

Liverpool star Mo Salah confronts yobs who were harassing a homeless man at a petrol station – before handing the rough sleeper some cash.

The moment, which saw the Egyptian international coming to the aid of David Craig, who sleeps rough nearby Anfield, was captured on CCTV after Liverpool’s 3-1 win against Arsenal on September the 28th.

The heartwarming moment came just three months after the Egyptian King paid for everyone’s fuel at a petrol station.

CCTV footage clearly shows Salah pulling up at the station in his Bentley. Then stands up for Mr Craig as he is harassed by the men walking past the forecourt.

The 50-year-old former labourer told the media: “Mo was every bit as wonderful as he is for Liverpool on the pitch.

“He heard what a group of lads were saying to me, then turned to them and said, “That could be you in a few years”.

“I only knew I wasn’t hallucinating when Mo incredibly handed me £100. What a complete legend.”

Salah was spotted wearing rubber gloves and holding disinfectant spray as he followed the strict coronavirus measures to ensure safety.

One person tweeted on seeing him turn up at a different service station, only to pay for people’s fuel: “Pull up to a petrol station in a Bentley, wearing Liverpool training kit and pay for everyone’s petrol. My hero my mate.”

The Egypt international’s club team-mate and close friend Dejan Lovren praised Salah but not without having a cheeky dig.

Lovren tweeted: “I heard that @MoSalah paid couple of days ago the gas for everyone at the petrol station…Great gesture.

“But can you pay at least once for me the coffee?? Usually you are tight guy so I am surprised, but anyway well done.”

Earlier this year, he donated the money so that his hometown of Nagrig in the Egyptian governorate of Gharbia could have a new ambulance center.

Salah’s father, Haj Salah Ghaly, was present at the announcement, along with Dr. Magdy Awad, head of Gharbia’s ambulance institute, and Dr. Abdel Naser Hemeida, Gharbia’s health ministry representative.

The ambulance center, which reportedly cost 600,000 Egyptian pounds ($37,200), will serve 30,000 people in the village.

Most recently, Salah donated food to the city of Basyoun during the COVID-19 pandemic.

His charity also reaches beyond his hometown. He helped Egypt by making a 5 million Egyptian pound donation to the “Tahya Masr Fund” in 2016. Last year Salah donated more than 50 million Egyptian pounds to the National Cancer Institute.
