Fans mock Man City as their official Twitter account mysteriously disappears

Fans have taken to mock Man City as their Twitter account mysteriously disappears on Wednesday morning, leaving many puzzled.

Users of the social media site started emerging, with screenshots showing an blank looking Twitter page, with all content and media posted by the Premier League outfit gone.

Supporters were left questioning what has happened whilst many others couldn’t help but make fun of the situation.

The @ManCity account handle and Manchester City name shows up, but the feed is white and just reads, “This account doesn’t exist Try searching for another.” Take a look at what users are seeing below…

It was down for a number of hours, and is still like you see in the photo above when writing this article.

You could only imagine that behind the scenes at the club they are frantically trying to figure out what done this unless they are in on it themselves.

They have been known to fool their supporters before, after accidentally (supposedly) dropping the Premier League trophy from a balcony after the title winning celebrations in the city a few years back.

The club ended up saying that it was a prank and the trophy is actually all well and safe.

UPDATE: A tweet has been posted by journalist Mike Keegan, stating that Man City believe the issue with their official account is a problem at Twitter‘s end. It is a ‘technical issue’ they are trying to resolve.

City aware of issues with their Twitter account and are looking into it. Confident it is not a hack.

“City now have it confirmed that it isn’t a hack. Believe it is a problem at Twitter’s end. Technical issue they are trying to resolve.”

How many times do they want to maintain the fact that it wasn’t a hack?

It was revealed earlier in 2020 that one unnamed Premier League club almost lost £1million after cyber criminals hacked a transfer deal.

Because of this, top flight teams were told to tighten online security by professional sports organisations.

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) said the email address of a Premier League club’s managing director had been hacked during a transfer negotiation, and only intervention from the bank prevented the club losing around £1million.

That was only one of several incidents highlighted as evidence that sport needed to improve its cyber security, having faced increased pressure from cyber criminals activity.

Another breach almost saw an EFL fixture postponed after a club was hit by ransomware which cut off its security systems and blocked turnstiles.

In turn, fans still chose to mock Man City as their official Twitter account mysteriously disappears, see what they had to say, have a chuckle at some of these…
