Middlesbrough fans are already said to be losing the trust of manager Chris Wilder amid the surprising Steve Gibson and Bournemouth claims.
It’s fair to say the start of Boro’s 2022/23 season hasn’t gone as many expected with the club tipped in pre-season to be up and around the top six.
But after ten matches played, they instead sit 22nd in the Championship standings having won just two league matches and if the latest details emerging are anything to go by, fans have reason to lose faith already.
Chris Wilder’s camp are pushing for him to get the Bournemouth job despite currently not being in contention.
It’s amidst reports of a frosty relationship between him and Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson.

Despite not even being in contention for the Bournemouth job, his name for the Cherries head coach role had seen a huge shift in betting odds, and it’s claimed his camp are pushing for him to get the vacant job.
There are also reports of a frosty relationship between him and Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson with tension growing between the two due to differences in opinion regarding recruitment.
Boro were productive transfer window, yet Wilder was hoping to recruit another midfielder and striker before the transfer deadline passed, with the club having an underwhelming deadline day at the start of this month especially after being linked with so many players.
They have brought in Massimo Luongo since then, but many argue Wilder has the players needed to push for promotion. Because of this supposed tension behind the scenes, he might just be tempted to move on with their decision to pursue Marcus Forss instead of Dwight Gayle also said to have been influenced by Gibson who wasn’t keen on signing the latter due to his age.
Wilder is a favourite with bookmakers, becoming as short as 1/5 to take the role after Gary O’Neil was listed as a 1/7 shot hours previously.
The Northern Echo reported there had been “no formal approach” from Cherries to Boro regarding Wilder, with the 55-year-old taking training this week for the Championship side.
Bournemouth are on the search for a new boss after the sacking of Scott Parker last month with O’Neil in interim charge of the side since then and is unbeaten in his three games at the helm.
LATEST BOURNEMOUTH ODDS

Chris Wilder – 7/4
Kjetil Knutsen – 10/1
Sean Dyche – 12/1
Nathan Jones – 16/1
Marcelo Bielsa – 20/1
With Middlesbrough fans losing trust of Chris Wilder amid surprise Steve Gibson and Bournemouth claims, we check out what is being said by social media users…
@garliclover123: Rapidly getting a reputation of being a snake
@ms_m3__: Hmmm where have we heard this before? 🤔
@eddicoombs67: Hahaha piss off wilder 😂
@alastair10: Can’t wait for him to rule himself out of a job he was never going to get
@Feosufc: He’s an embarrassment
@wozosufc: bit much that lad to say what’s he’s done for us and we may have never gotten to the prem if it wasn’t for him nor would he have the squad we have now. have some respect.
@Steve95071139: ‘Frosty relationship with Gibson’. That’s not a sentence you’ll here often. Good luck finding a better chairman. The whole thing is turning into a mess. If he doesn’t want to be with us then get shot. If he’s staying they make a comment in the media and end any gossip.
@Danyshaw90: If he doesn’t want to be here just get him gone, we are 3rd bottom and since burnley link our form has been shit
@M57Joseph: Not like Chris to fallout with the owners when not getting his own way maybe blades fans will see him alittle more for what he is na a mardy arse #sufc #twitterblades
@kieranstead95: What a mess 🥱🥱
@JamieSpencer92: Seems like he wants to fight every chairman
@ChrisEd90172340: Get him so far to fuck man, you’d understand if we were playing well and there was interest. We’re not, there isn’t.
@Shaunsufc2013: Surely not fell out with owners?! Never would have expected that 👀🙄🤣
@Joelbirmz12: Guy needs humbling hope boro sack him
@FFC_Ibz: Something flaky about Chris Wilder. He’s doing a bang average job at Middlesbrough and is looking elsewhere. He flirted with the Burnley job but failed. He also dramatically failed at Sheffield after spending a fortune and shafted the sheikh. #DISLOYAL #WILDER #RAT #AFCB
@FreddyTheFud: Hey maybe some of our fans who like to reserve the snake emoji for Stephen Bettis, might wanna consider using it for Wilder if he pushes this through! Getting a bit of a bad reputation for falling out with owners is our Chris.
@JoelHarrison28: Ffs 🤦♂️ if this is true just let him leave then
@FiskRobbie: Sounds like it’s all rotten in the Middlesbrough Camp, we couldn’t be playing them at a better time. Confident we can beat them on Saturday #PUSB
@JEDilson_10: Fell out with another chairman? Shock horror.
@JosephB2301: U just know when wilder doesn’t get the job he’s going to say “my hearts always been with boro”
@Joeytaylor123: Let’s hope he loses on Saturday to get the job 😂😂
@kerry_jowitt: I ain’t claiming to know this chairman one bit, but what I do know and have heard of him he’s one of the good guys in football – why’s there always issues? Who’s the issue ?
@stewallace86: If he’s actively touting himself to Bournemouth of all clubs then get shot of him. You’re either fully in or you can do one.
@robbo6703: #WilderOut
@craig_latham: Wilder is a slaaaaagggggg
@AdamGoldsack: Get rid. This doesn’t seem to be working.
@jman_oslo: Wants to jump before he is pushed.
@aimac89: Right, fuck this. Get him gone.
@wilsoncgp: I think it says a lot more about things than just his relationship with the hierarchy. No respect to his players or ever faithful staff members like Leo Percovich. And 100% no respect to the fans who have been singing his name for months. An absolute snake of the highest order.
@miichaelloo: I get the feeling Wilder thinks he’s above the Championship. He thought Boro was an opportunity for a quick return to the top flight and it hasn’t worked out. I bought into the idea he was humble and grounded, but in recent months he’s become arrogant and believed his own hype.
@sihide1: If this is all true get this cock out of our club man, blokes nothing but trouble
@JosephB2301: Just get him gone now
@TatumXGilesTV: he can get fucked – if he isn’t 100% in what is he even still doing here. i wouldn’t be opposed to getting rob edwards in, considering it’s not a massive change in style of play
@MikeyHobson3: Not going to end well this is it, Gibson isn’t going to take kindly to this
@brown_jake_: Wouldn’t be arsed if he left at all
@dannyhunter11: Just get rid, this has turned into a circus
@Jordwalker19: Wilder wants to leave boro. End of conversation.
@CScollett: The damage is done now surely if any of all this carry on is actually true 🤦🏻♂️
@_mstephenson88: Surely Gibbo won’t stand for this
