Have a look at who they thought would finish from 24th to 1st below, some will surprise, others not so…
24) CRAWLEY
The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 24th place (relegated) for the 2023/24 campaign.
FFT VERDICT: Crawley Town got attention last season for eccentricity off the field, rather than electricity on it – something the crypto-owners have to change. Last term’s separate runs of four, three and six straight losses hardly scream stability. They’ll hope Danilo Orsi adds quality from Grimsby, but League Two survival is the only thing that matters.
The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 14th place for the 2022/23 League Two campaign – instead they finished 22nd.

23) SUTTON
The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 23rd place (relegated) for the 2023/24 campaign.
FFT VERDICT: This could be manager Matt Gray’s hardest year at Sutton United, after Ali Smith, Will Randall, Omar Bugiel and Donovan Wilson exited Gander Green Lane. A stable club with a good culture, but resources are tight and League Two is much stronger now. Ebbsfleet midfielder Christian N’Guessan should fit in well, though, but ultimately it might not prove enough.
The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 15th place for the 2022/23 League Two campaign – instead they finished 14th.

22) HARROGATE
The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 22nd place for the 2023/24 campaign.
FFT VERDICT: After starting life in the EFL with 17th-, then a pair of 19th-placed finishes, Harrogate Town target further progress following a decent start to the window. Kazeem Olaigbe, Tom Eastman and Alex Pattison will be missed, though, and League Two just keeps getting stronger.
The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 24th place for the 2022/23 League Two campaign – instead they finished 19th.

21) NEWPORT
The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 21st place for the 2023/24 campaign.
FFT VERDICT: If Newport County continue their form since Graham Coughlan’s October arrival, they’ll be play-off candidates. It might not be that simple, though, with Cam Norman and others leaving, even if attacking midfielder Nathan Wood adjusts to League Two after impressing in the Cymru Premier for Penybont.
The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 5th place for the 2022/23 League Two campaign – instead they finished 15th.

20) MORECAMBE
The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 20th place for the 2023/24 campaign.
FFT VERDICT: Though Morecambe are well-run day-to-day, ownership concerns dominate. Relegation hasn’t made things easy for manager Derek Adams, for whom survival looks a more realistic aim rather than a repeat of 2020/21’s historic promotion from League Two, especially given the massive turnover of players.
The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 21st place for the 2022/23 League One campaign – instead they finished 22nd.

19) CREWE
The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 19th place for the 2023/24 campaign.
FFT VERDICT: Crewe Alexandra stopped the rot in League Two last season, after relegation in 2021/22, but they’ve lost key players including Rod McDonald and Dan Agyei. England Under-20s goalkeeper Harvey Davies could impress on loan, but it’ll be tough to match last year’s levels. Ryan Cooney adds a bit of know-how to the squad at least.
The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 17th place for the 2022/23 League Two campaign – instead they finished 13th.

18) WALSALL
The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 18th place for the 2023/24 campaign.
FFT VERDICT: Walsall fans wanted an exciting appointment after slumping to 16th in League Two with two wins in 23, so the internal appointment of Mat Sadler was surprising. It’s hard to be too positive: Ryan Stirk looks a steady pickup from Birmingham, at least, to accompany Danny Johnson’s return.
The FourFourTwo magazine predicted the club to finish in 9th place for the 2022/23 League Two campaign – instead they finished 16th.

17) WIMBLEDON
The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted them to finish in 17th place for the 2023/24 campaign.
FFT VERDICT: Returning to their spiritual home was a £32m dream AFC Wimbledon are now handling practical realities of. It’s been tough, yet last term’s squad was capable of higher than 21st in League Two. Early business has been promising, especially Crawley’s James Tilley, but is manager Johnnie Jackson the one?
