FourFourTwo predicts the 2021/22 League Two table

The 2021/22 season is just around the corner, and with that in mind, we look to FourFourTwo who predicts the League Two table.

We turn our attention to the fourth tier division, and as always, it causes plenty of reaction and debates on social media.

You can order your copy of the FourFourTwo magazine, including the much loved season preview magazine by clicking HERE.

Have a look at who they thought would finish from 24th to 1st below, some will surprise, others not so…

24) SCUNTHORPE

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Iron to finish in 24th place (relegated) of the League Two table for the 2021/22 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Last season’s squad turned up in winter, but then went missing in autumn and spring. To avoid the drop, Neil Cox must change the culture: after 19 exits, recruiting anchorman Alex Kenyon and defender Harry Davis is a start at least. But this could be a slog.

FourFourTwo predicted that Neil Cox’s Scunthorpe United would end up finishing 17th in League Two for the 2020/21 season. Instead it was 22nd.

For the 2019/20 season, FourFourTwo predicted that the Iron would finish 5th in League Two, instead, they finished 20th.

23) SWINDON

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Robins to finish in 23rd place (relegated) of the League Two table for the 2021/22 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Lee Power and Clem Morfuni’s legal battle over ownership has hindered preparations; likewise John McGreal’s understandable exit as manager after 30 days. Delayed recruitment means the Robins will be playing catch-up – hardly optimal preparation.

FourFourTwo predicted that Swindon Town would end up finishing 11th in the League One table for the 2020/21 season.

The club went on to finish in 23rd place and relegated to League Two. Meaning the magazine had them to finish much higher than their final position.

For the 2019/20 season, FourFourTwo predicted that the Robins would finish 6th in the League Two table, instead, they finished 1st and promoted.

22) HARTLEPOOL

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted Pools to finish in 22nd place (relegated) of the League Two table for the 2021/22 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: The 50-day gap between a mad National League playoff final and new season has offered no summer breather for manager Dave Challinor…

…who had also lost his two leading scorers from last term. It’ll take all of his nous to keep the Pools afloat now.

21) COLCHESTER

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the U’s to finish in 21st place of the League Two table for the 2021/22 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Hayden Mullins has snapped up four experienced campaigners from Ipswich, and will meld their maturity with youth. But might his squad be short of peak age performers required to avoid damaging slumps? Last year’s run of one win in 25 was bleak.

FourFourTwo predicted that Colchester United would end up finishing 14th in League Two for the 2020/21 season. They placed 22nd.

For the 2019/20 season, FourFourTwo predicted that the U’s would finish 10th in League Two, instead, they finished 6th.

20) OLDHAM

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Latics to finish in 20th place of the League Two table for the 2021/22 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Despite owner-imposed chaos, recruitment suggests Keith Curle has been given more autonomy than his predecessors. the former Northampton promotion winner should sort out Oldham’s defensive issues of last season – but don’t expect so many thrills.

FourFourTwo predicted that Oldham Athletic would end up finishing 21st in League Two for the 2020/21 season. Instead it was 18th.

For the 2019/20 season, FourFourTwo predicted that they would finish 23rd and relegated from League Two, instead they finished 19th.

19) SUTTON

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the U’s to finish in 19th place of the League Two table for the 2021/22 campaign.

The south Londoners arrive in the Football League with a squad that almost mirrors the club: on the older side, yet new to this level.

Sutton are in for a learning curve and must dig very deep to extend their League Two voyage, but they have it in them to do it.

18) CRAWLEY

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Red Devils to finish in 18th place of the League Two table for the 2021/22 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: John Yems could deserve more credit, having delivered a pair of top half finishes on top of last season’s cup heroics. Sporadic horror shows and a gruff style can compromise his popularity, however, so regression sadly looks likelier than the playoffs.

FourFourTwo predicted that John Yems’s Crawley Town would end up finishing 12th in League Two for the 2020/21 season. They placed 12th.

For the 2019/20 season, FourFourTwo predicted that the Red Devils would finish 21st in League Two, instead, they finished 13th.

17) BARROW

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Bluebirds to finish in 17th place of the League Two table for the 2021/22 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: After survival last term, a top-half tilt is targeted: adding speedy forward Josh Gordon and utility man Joe Grayson should help. Much depends on Mark Cooper’s management – and whether the returning Tom White can quench the Bluebirds’ thirst for creativity.

FourFourTwo predicted that Barrow would end up finishing 23rd and relegated from League Two for the 2020/21 season. Instead it was 21st.

The Bluebirds weren’t favourites for promotion to the English Football League ahead of the 2019/20 season, so they proved the doubters wrong in staying up.

16) CARLISLE

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Cumbrians to finish in 16th place of the League Two table for the 2021/22 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: After last season;s capitulation, albeit in unfair circumstances, matching late-2020 form may be tough. David Holdsworth is an unpopular director of football, but the promising signing of Zach Clough may bring the good vibrations back for Chris Beech.

FourFourTwo predicted that Chris Beech’s Carlisle United would end up finishing 15th in League Two for the 2020/21 season. Instead it was 10th.

For the 2019/20 season, FourFourTwo predicted that the Cumbrians would finish 13th in League Two, though, they finished 18th.

15) WALSALL

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Saddlers to finish in 15th place of the League Two table for the 2021/22 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Improved structure, a talented coach and strengthened spine put Walsall on the right track. Jumping 12 places is a big ask for rookie manager Matt Taylor, though, who may need a year to acclimatise before the extent of his ambitions are realised.

FourFourTwo predicted that Walsall would end up finishing 9th in League Two for the 2020/21 season. They placed 19th.

For the 2019/20 season, FourFourTwo predicted that the Saddlers would finish 12th in League Two, and that is exactly where they ended up positioning come the end of the last campaign.

14) ROCHDALE

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Dale to finish in 14th place of the League Two table for the 2021/22 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: Changes in the boardroom have led to more in the dugout, while losing last term’s two top scorers is far from ideal. But stability can be found elsewhere at least, with Eoghan O’Connell and Jimmy Keohane both inking extended deals. Mid-table will do – for now.

FourFourTwo predicted that Rochdale would end up finishing 21st and relegated from League One for the 2020/21 season.

The club went on to finish in 21st place and relegated to League Two. Meaning the magazine got their guess spot on.

For the 2019/20 season, FourFourTwo predicted that the Dale would finish 22nd and relegated from League One, instead, they finished 18th.

13) HARROGATE

The FourFourTwo magazine have predicted the Sulphurites to finish in 13th place of the League Two table for the 2021/22 campaign.

FFT VERDICT: After an impressive first season in the EFL, this summer has been a delicate balancing act for boss Simon Weaver. He’s added some League know-how in an attempt to beat last season’s 17th place finish, while still maintaining the familiarity if a very trusty core.

FourFourTwo predicted that Harrogate Town would end up finishing 20th in League Two for their debut season in 2020/21.

Just like Barrow, the Sulphurites wasn’t the favourites for promotion to the English Football League ahead of the 2019/20 season, so fair to say they like to upset the odds.

FourFourTwo predicted that Alex Revell’s Stevenage would end up finishing 24th and relegated from League Two for the 2020/21 season. Instead it was 14th.

For the 2019/20 season, FourFourTwo predicted that the Boro would finish 17th in League Two, instead they finished 23rd, re-elected from relegation.

FourFourTwo predicted that Port Vale would end up finishing 5th in League Two for the 2020/21 season. They placed 13th.

For the 2019/20 season, FourFourTwo predicted that the Valiants would finish 19th, instead, they finished 8th.

FourFourTwo predicted that Northampton Town would end up finishing 24th and relegated from League One for the 2020/21 season.
