Erling Haaland is being investigated by police, according to reports, after he was filmed using his phone at the wheel of his car.
The 22 year old was believed to have been driving his Rolls-Royce Cullinan, which cost around £300,000 from new, near the Etihad Stadium, occurring a day after he netted five times in Manchester City‘s 7-0 win against RB Leipzig on the 15th of March.
He now could face losing his license, with Greater Manchester Police confirming: “GMP is aware of the image and is investigating.”
Anyone caught driving while using a mobile phone faces six penalty points and a £200 fine, plus, if the driver only passed their test in the last two years, their licence can be revoked.
An onlooker said, as per The Sun: “Erling has hardly put a foot wrong since he moved to City.
“But he needs to pay more attention to the road when he’s driving and needs to brush up on the law when he’s driving.
“It’s a silly mistake but could be a dangerous one for him and for other road users.
“The last thing City fans want is for him to have a bump which rules him out of a game.”
An AA spokesman said: “It’s a straight red with no excuses.
“Holding your phone while driving is dangerous. For someone so effective at scoring, this is definitely an own goal.”
Six penalty points and a £200 fine are available to anyone caught driving with a mobile phone in their hands.
A driver could also be taken to court and subject to a maximum £1,000 fine.
Drivers who have not passed the test within the last two years can have their license revoked.
Since 2003, it is illegal to use a cell phone while driving. However, rules have been tightened since then.
Your phone cannot be used in your car for any purpose, such as reading text messages, checking social media, or taking photos.
Any touching of your phone is illegal starting the 25th of March 2022 and can result in a fine.
Even if your engine is still running, you can be stopped at traffic lights.
At the time then Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said: “I will do everything in my power to keep road users safe, which is why I am taking a zero-tolerance approach to those who decide to risk lives by using their phone behind the wheel.”

@TheMoradinho: He should get suspended against Arsenal for this.
@James__1886: Stick him in jail till the end of the season
@PJ_Jenno: Another 6 points he’s earned. This guy is lethal.
@GaryHowes1974: Reading text message from the boss “pretend your injured and you doing light training this week, then your be straight in on weekend” ok boss “it works for Rashford”
@Fulhamflutter: Not a good advert for kids at grass roots level watching their role models. Perhaps a 10 game ban to be made an example of will suffice. Throw the book at him.
@stanleypulis: GET HIM OUT OF FOOTBALL NOW
@trollcampbell7: Can get you 3 points any where this c*nt
@MUNUTD7S: The guy who took the photo is also driving and is using his phone 😭😭😭
@TheReelSamcho: I think a ban till the end of the season is only fair
@Joel_H5: Thing is, it’s genuinely worse than the Mitrovic thing but it won’t be made into such an issue as he plays for a top 6 club.
@MartynJohn88: Disgusting behaviour. 8 match ban minimum.
@GoonerSpark2012: Jail him. Until the end of May 👍
@The_Tittsmaster: He should be suspended for the next 11 Premier League games
@skibumg: It’s an FA cup ban that!! 😂
@AdamFFC: This is a terrible example to all the young kids who look up to him, he must get a 10 match ban or a 181 day ban
@WolfSomerset: Deduct all his goals this season 🤣🤣
@DialSquareNZ: They should deduct all his goals and the applicable points as punishment.
@VjSidhu1: Should be banned for 10 PL games
@c_palmer33: 14 years in jail minimum. Send him down tomorrow and deduct all points.
@LittleLloyd14: The lad just can’t help but pick up points… This time on his license.
@StretfordPaddck: That’s disgraceful! 😡 The only correct punishment is to ban him from the FA Cup final. #MUFC
@SufcBran: 10 game ban immediately.
@PhoyBoi: one normal day at this football club is all i’m asking for
