Erik ten Hag stands on the touchline in utter shock after Man Utd lose 3-0 to Bournemouth with boos ringing out come the final whistle.
The Manchester United boss couldn’t believe what he was seeing as his side fell to a humiliating defeat and a total collapse suffered at the hands of a Cherries side who are now unbeaten in six games in all competitions.
Goals from Dominic Solanke, Philip Billing and Marcos Senesi earned a historic victory for the Cherries, their first ever Premier League away win at Old Trafford to go 10 points clear of the drop zone.
The result means that Man Utd have now lost 7 times in the Premier League this season, and now they get set to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League, a must win tie for the Red Devils if they have any chance of reaching the last 16.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag speaking to Match of the Day: “At the start of the game we weren’t in the right focus. We gave a goal away that can’t happen. Mistake in the build-up okay but then we need better positions they shouldn’t come easily through and score the goal from that. We knew that beforehand and from that point on you’re following facts.
“We tried we were in the game we had a lot of tempo, came in their half and came good into the box. Brilliance or the movement in the box we are not good enough. The same after half-time we tried to get equaliser and the breakdown was the second goal.
On lack of cutting edge: “That’s always the question. You have to start right and 100% focused, when you don’t everyone is eager. It can’t happen when the opponent is more eager than you are.
“We had good spells of football only moments where our positions aren’t good enough. You can’t make such mistakes at this level, opponents will take benefit from it. You can’t switch off and that’s what happened.
“We have to work on that if we want to be successful. If you want to reach the targets you’ve set you have to be consistent.”
Message to fans: “I understand disappointment and frustration, we are as well but we should do better. We have to show it every game and not from one game the the game, such big difference in levels.”
On lifting players ahead of the game against Bayern Munich: “We know we are able to do it. We showed in the week we had some good performances. We have to leave this behind but talk about it . We need to be consistent we can play against many opponents a very good game we are able to do it but you have to do it every day so to get it right and that demands a certain standard so we have to go to higher standards to deliver it.”
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “We did many things wrong today. Bournemouth deserved the win today; they were more intense than us, more eager than us. We should have performed better. We should expect the intensity of the game.
“We are not consistent enough. If you wan to be in the top spots, you have to do it every three days. It is about understanding we need our level every game; if you drop your levels a little bit, you get punished.”
Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke speaking to PLP: “Magnificent. To win away at Old Trafford is touching for everyone really. One of the best stadiums in the world and one of the best clubs in the world so to come and win the boys are delighted.”
Asked whether this is one of the best results in the club’s history: “Yeah I’d probably say so and it shows the direction we are going in. I think I we’ve been building a lot in the last few weeks we are feeling confident we are feeling great.
“At the moment we feel like we can beat anyone and that showed today.
“I think just composure really. The stadium is magnificent. It’s easy to probably get intimidated here but we kept our heads.
“We were confident on the ball kept playing and attacked when we could and kept pressing through the whole game. We are just delighted to get the result.”
On the club’s upturn in form: “I think we’ve just started clicking really. A new manager, obviously coming in to the team. At the beginning we were still trying to kind of find our feet with a new philosophy.
“We’ve definitely started gelling in the last few weeks and it has showed on the pitch.
Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “It is a great result and great performance. You have to enjoy it.
“We knew we’d suffer to stop their front three because they are in a good moment but we knew we we would have chances because we are good in transitions and we’d have spaces to exploit. Everyone has performed really well. We deserved the win.
“The clean sheet was key. We have won the last two with two clean sheets. We were not defending well previously.
“We have 19 points. We need more points, we have players in a good moment. The players coming from the bench are giving us a spark of energy.”

Here’s how fans reacted as Erik ten Hag stands in utter shock after Man Utd lose 3-0 to Bournemouth with boos ringing out…
@_GaryMUFC: Wouldn’t be surprised if Ten Hag resigned before he’s sacked. The players should be able to do the basics & they just can’t. Maybe he’s too advanced for them. Feels like he should have been the manager we got in AFTER the Glazers handed over the reigns. Just a disaster all round.
@banzaimike1985: Players downed tools again. McTominay apart from the odd goal has no ability to control a midfield, he needs benching for Mainoo until Casemiro returns. And the entire forward line is blunt. And Bruno, the so called captain gets himself deliberately banned for Liverpool…
@bottomike: Narrative will inevitably be about ETH and United in crisis. No problem with that and us going under the radar. Those of us that witnessed it know just how much fun we are to watch right now and the work rate and desire on display from our TEAM. #upthechez #afcb #proud 🍒
@MufcWonItAll2: I’ve gone from hating most of the players a week ago then loving them 3 days ago and back to hating them today. It’s been like this for 10 years so if you’re solely blaming Ten Hag you are clueless
@ZachNFFC: Baffles me that some people are taking the piss out of Bournemouth today, Manchester united are simply not the team they use to be, Bournemouth have to be in the top 3 most improved sides in the Premier league this season so let’s not take that away from them, well done👏🍒 #AFCB
@jamessilvo: Little old Bournemouth beating United at Old Trafford HAS to be our biggest win in the top flight. Phenomenal achievement and this team continues to prove people wrong. What a time to be alive #afcb
@Cherries_Fans: One thing that I adore about AI is he doesn’t try and see games out and instead goes for the brutal blow. 2-0 up at United and Sini comes on, another manager would have chucked mepham on and 5 at the back #afcb
@hithisiswes: Andoni has well and truly turned me around. I seriously doubted his ability to be competitive in the Premier League. I offer my most sincere apologies for ever doubting him. Trust the process #afcb
@Mjw1303: Sack ten hag and get fuckin who????? Coz guarantee whoever comes in would do just as fuckin shite with players like dalot and martial Bein here
@TheUnitedWay26: The players weren’t good enough before tenHag took over. We need to give a manager more than 18 months. It’s not great now but it doesn’t mean it can’t get better. I’m sick of going through manager after manager. We need to just stick with someone
