Crewe anger fans after announcing ‘scandalous’ matchday ticket prices for 2024/25 season

Crewe Alexandra anger fans after announcing ‘scandalous’ matchday ticket prices for the 2024/25 season in League Two.

Despite calls from fans last season to reduce the pricing from as high as £27 for 2023/24, they’ve only gone an increased it, leaving some fans priced and and turning to non league instead.

Crewe ended up finishing 6th in the fourth tier last season, with 71 points from 46 games played, beat Doncaster on penalties in the playoff semi final second leg, but lost to Crawley in the final at Wembley.

This is how fans reacted as Crewe anger fans after announcing ‘scandalous’ matchday ticket prices for the 2024/25 season…

@SmokeyTimRobbo: The club listened to the criticism about the ridiculously high ticket prices then. And then increased them.

@StandingAlone77: Prices up £1 to £28 per game in the main stand and away end. Ranks as one of the most expensive match day tickets in the entire league. #CreweAlex

@MattSnape1993: League Two. £28. The games gone

@1985Pete: Another seasons of away fans complaining, and rightly so! £28 🤣

@SmithChristian4: £28 to watch my local team? I don’t want a membership (yet). but wouldn’t mind a Sat afternoon out with the lads for something more reasonable for lg 2 football regardless of the result. Maybe 2025 prices will come down and you’d get more casuals in who may become regulars 👍🏽

@Whaddonrd65: Expensive to watch our team at this level, but we will all be there on 17th v Chesterfield.

@Cricket1406: 🤢🤢🤢

@194Royc: You couldnt fill your ground last season , you got no chance again with these prices

@do_dabber: What a joke. Smaller crowds next season then. Brilliant

@Joedempo: Smart idea lads if you want no one going 👍

@Conderian75: More revenue through TV rights & more appearances on tele, yet a price increase? £28 for 4th division football is ridiculous!!

@Cam_Felton: So basically this is just so they can charge away fans £28 to watch the match because they’re ’charging their fans the same’ when in reality it’s 24 if you have a membership… Just fleecing away fans…

@TylerBirtles: £28 for League Two football, a bit laughable don’t you think fellas?

@ChrisLukeJones: £28. For League Two football. Utterly ridiculous.

@Alexbazley_: £28 for league two football after serving up dross for most of the last part of the season is laughable

@jackstringer19: £28 for fourth division. Game’s gone.

@RussWWFC: £26 – £28 for 4th tier football is absolute insanity. How can they hope to attract support with such greed.

@RedAlexCrewe: The #20splenty campaign alive and well I see. Any response planned @therailwaymensg? #crewealex

@Mathew_scfc: It was £27 last year and everyone said the same but nothing changed

@becky_rtw: £28 for away fans to be squashed in dangerously and not even able to get a tea at half time. Absolutely fucking not 😂

@jay_cafc: Another price raise really?

@nyeomans4: Another price rise? We’ve been quite rightly slated for our ridiculously high ticket prices and then you completely ignore that and increase them anyway. Fabulous work

@Dazzzzzz86: I still don’t understand what that bloke on the board who’s meant to represent the fans does? Beavan or something like that? He’s utterly useless! I suppose sitting in the posh seats for free is a lot of work

@wootball1: That ticket price is disgusting, and I say this as a 30+ year Alex season ticket holder. Sort this shit out, no football league supporter should need to pay £28 for a ticket, especially in the basement division.

@Walsallfandan: Crewe Alex away next year will be £28 a ticket. £28 for English 4th division football. 😭

@EmmaGroundGuide: £28 to watch league 2 football next season 🤢 And people wonder why we watch Non-League. Can get the whole day out for us both for less than the price of 1 ticket at #CreweAlex. Pricing fans out of the game! #nonleague @AffordableFooty

@MattTalksSport_: It’s one of the reasons I will be attending my local team more, think it’s £5 a ticket

@manlik3padzz: Disgusting price point for league 2 football 😱 £20 at most. Also why next season I’m giving up my imps season ticket at £400 for £100 season ticket at my local non league team which I’m becoming more involved in and feel a stronger connection to the players as they are all normal guys with full time jobs and the place is full of friendly helpful volunteers

@FGroundhopper: Crewe are pricing fans out of going to games!.

@AndytheLensman: That’s absolutely scandalous! A good lesson in how to alienate your fans.

@BuckleyCharliee: that doesn’t even include fucking travel… Lets do an example of cheltenham. A 17 year old from cheltenham will have to spend £100.80 for travel and ticket thats not including food. They have to work 15.75 hours… On top of their college work or whatever they could be doing. Its absolutely shameful… Yes football is a business but you cant run a football club business without fans. Shame on you Charles Grant @crewealexfc

@Nataliebacchus1: Over £330 if your not a student but between 17-19 it’s absolutely disgusting, my son won’t be having a season ticket this year unfortunately 😭

@alexwest88: £28 for Crewe away is absolutely disgusting. Surely the @EFL should be introducing a cap.

@ARLukomski: Then they’ll ask for a donation to the academy when you go and buy your ticket. Like, come on, is £28 not enough?

@Tom_Atkins107: Jesus. That’s a pisstake

@92_jackrich: £25, £27 and now £28. That’s 3 years worth of pricing. Horrible club.

@danifdl: As expected the increase of tickets price (and wages) in the PL has a cascading effect on lower league clubs. Future is grim for local and loyal fans.

@194Royc: Typical, NO thought for fans, just pure GREED
