Crewe fans to vote on commemorative home kit and anniversary crest for 2027/28 season

Crewe Alexandra fans are to vote on their commemorative home kit and anniversary crest for the 2027/28 season.

The supporters were this week asked to take part in a survey in preparation of Alexandra’s 150th anniversary celebrations.

There will be three surveys conducted where fans can have their say, in person at the turnstile prior to the Stoke game on the 18th of July, all season ticket holders and Railwaymen Supporters’ Society are invited to vote via email.

The club said in a statement via their website: “As the Club’s first competitive game took place in December 1877, the historic 150 milestone will be recognised during the 2027/28 campaign.

“Now three separate surveys will be conducted to invite fans to vote on the designs of the home kit and Club crest for our 150th year.

Decision One: Kit

“A special blue and white design in the style of the Club’s first-ever home kit or an eye-catching new all-red version, reflecting the Club’s now traditional main colour.

Decision Two: Badge

The return of a retro design featuring a lion holding a railway wheel, resting on a football encircled by the Club’s name or the current design featuring a lion perched on top of a football, and encircled by a laurel and the Club’s name.”

The statement continues: “Season Ticket Holders can also CLICK HERE to register their vote. They must log in using the email address linked to their Season Ticket.

“To switch to the blue and white kit, or to the retro badge, for one season only, a majority of at least 60% in favour must be recorded in each of the three votes.

“All votes must be received by Friday, July 24. Results will be published in due course.

“Please email Lyla Race if you are experiencing problems with the voting form.”

Here’s the social media reaction with Crewe fans to vote on their commemorative home kit and anniversary crest for 2027/28 season…

@GrestyRoadender: The Blue at home the Red away sorted 👌🏽 #BringBacktheWheel

@Mattyproudlove2: Bring the wheel back and the shirt they used 150 years ago

@Jakecafc23: red and lion for me

@GardinersMullet: I thought Grant said the wheel was too expensive for manufacturers to produce? Always seemed an odd claim to me #crewealex

@creweedits: #BringBackTheWheel

@GrestyRoadender: #BringBacktheWheel

@aitchyrobinson: The previous chairman definitely said that, not sure if Grant has

@RobDutt93: Think he meant to completely re-brand the club, which would add up when you think of all the signage etc with the club badge on. Can’t imagine the kit cost be different, especially when puma don’t even embroider the badges

@LDB_47: BRING BACK THE WHEEL!!!! I don’t care what you do with the kit, every single Crewe fan must vote for the return of that blood beautiful badge. #CreweAlex

@cozby97: Ban any supporter that votes for using the current crest. Wouldnt be against a blue home kit for one year, could also make a red away kit if we wanted #bringbackthewheel

@Big_Bill805: Looking at the old badge really makes you wonder why we wouldn’t just have this back permanently. Pretty obvious choice when it comes to the badge here…

@TrevGriff57: The landslide for the Wheel awaits…

@gaming_on_xbox7: What also happens if say one person uses an email for multiple season ticket holders, as you need the email to do it online now, or when they get sent out will they be separate for each ST holder to vote for?

@BOBTGT159359: Red kit and wheel. Done.

@Just_De_One: Definitely got to see the wheel back #CreweAlex

@AdviceKieran: The old badge needs to stay. Get rid of that abomination without the wheel

@joecos4457: Traditional crest and a blue kit for one season. Make it happen #crewealex

@JazzHands27: The old badge obviously but I think the home kit needs to stay red, love the blue and white for away

@dan_pleasance: Why not just do both kits with the wheel!

@sargeantbennett: Just take my money…! #bringbackthewheel

@nyeomans4: BRING BACK THE WHEEL

@1985Pete: Blue kit and old badge

@JayBryan_DJ: Well, dont think the old crest getting above 60% of the votes is going to be a problem. The shield crest has always been an eyesore which is why I like the designs on our kits since Puma took over, taking the shield away.
