Birmingham fans vent at having their cars damaged after returning to their vehicles from a miserable defeat to Cardiff on Wednesday night.
A number of Blues supporters contacted the club and police, angered further having arrived back at their car, only to see what the culprits had done whilst they were in the stadium watching the Championship fixture.
@Papaulski_CP wrote: “So not only have I just witnessed the worst performance of the season I’ve also had my car stripped. They obviously didn’t give too much of a shit for the blue badge in the window. What a shit hole of an area! @BCFC @BCFCEnquiries #BCFC
“I got in the car without even noticing. It was my brother that said that people kept looking at my car in disgust that made him go out and check.
“Being hit with £100 bill for excess from the insurance company is the last thing I needed. I’m out of work and struggling enough as it is. I’m really upset and angry atm. All this because I went to see my club play. #BCFC @BCFC and @WMPolice really need to step up!”
BCFC Supporter Services (aka @BCFCEnquiries) replied: “So sorry to see this, it’s terrible. We will raise the issue again with WMP. We will continue to work too to deliver more secure parking options following the success of our Frederick Cooper car park scheme.”
Tom Heath (@TomHeath27) said: “Seriously @BCFC, if we want to be world class you have to work harder with @WMPolice to stop this happening to fans on your doorstep. Frankly, I’m fucking livid. I’m not resting on this @BCFC @BCFCEnquiries @WMPolice @BCFC_WMP Let’s all have a chat, at a more convenient hour of course. I think that’s me done with midweek games until the some action is taken. That arguably makes having a season ticket very poor value for money. And the club wonders why, crap football aside, the stadium is half empty…”

Same happened to me after parking in Birmingham. Within a week the police had closed the case after probably not even looking into it. pic.twitter.com/txsPwOYLLS

This happened to me in April last year. And again in the same place to two other people within the next fortnight. The Police don’t care, you will get an automated response. pic.twitter.com/JdA0l97rvW

I’m sorry it’s happened to you as well mate. You’re right, it’s a big problem and nothing seems to be getting done.

The game itself saw Josh Bowler snatch a late victory for Cardiff to leaves Birmingham in much deeper trouble with a serious threat of relegation.
Speaking to BluesTV post-match, Gary Rowett said: “I thought we started the game quite well, had some control. Cardiff are a team that will drop into a deep compact shape, and make it difficult to play through, so you’ve got to work really hard, run to open space, which we spoke a lot about to make sure we keep making those runs and doing the right things.
“The chances will come if you’re patient, we hit the post and flashed one just narrowly round, some good moments but not enough of them. I felt while there was some promise in the first 30 minutes, but it happens too often in games where it peters out for 15 minutes and we just became rigid and bogged down.
“The fans want to see that level of fight and commitment, to do everything we can, putting balls into the box to put them under pressure and we just didn’t show the relevant character late on in the game and I’m frustrated with that. I can lose a game, I can accept a game, but it’s the way you lose and I felt we lacked character and that hurts to say.”
Rowett, looking ahead to the game against Coventry, he made it clear that the defeat to Cardiff has to be boxed off quickly and that nobody can feel sorry for themselves going into the all-Midlands clash.
“You can’t help but feel disappointed after an evening like this, it’s hard to put a smile on your face and think everything is a bed of roses but tomorrow morning we’ll be ready to go again, and whoever puts a shirt on at the weekend is going to have to perform for longer periods, with a little bit more drive than we did tonight.”
Cardiff’s Erol Bulut said: “It was a good game from our side, of course it was not an easy game because Birmingham are fighting for points.
“It was a strong game from us against the ball and we could have made one or two more goals if we would have finalised our passes or the last shot but in general, I am satisfied with the performance of the team.
“We now have four more games and I hope it can be the same like today.”
Twitter users reacted as Birmingham fans vent at having their cars damaged after returning to the vehicles from watching the 1-0 defeat to Cardiff…
@ninesecondmara1: This is uncanny as only at the weekend I was speaking to someone who was saying he got his car stripped while at a Birmingham game earlier this season!
@AtBlundellPark: Coming out the ground to half your car gone is crazy 😭
@VeryMilos: I mean, Birmingham. That’s all you need to know.
@liamwalton: Sorry to see this it’s shocking, trouble is the thieves know your gone for 2 hours minimum and parts of Brum are lawless. Cars round villa having cat converters taken during the game as well. No police anywhere
@HappySnapp37405: Crap to see that. All those Coppers in and around the ground. You’d think they would sent a few out patrolling the local roads. It’s always happening during midweek games.
@HJT96_: Bet there’s 20+ coppers stood twiddling their thumbs in the ground staring at the fans though
@LeanderMock: 2nd one I’ve seen posted wtf is going on man
@Amy09424661: 2nd one I’ve seen. @WMPolice instead of standing round chatting, like I’ve seen you do. How about you show a presence and do what we , the tax payer, pay you for and protect us and our cars. This has been going on for yrs now!!
@Spooleypoole: All it needs is a couple of drone units to patrol the areas where car parks I would soon scare them off
@notasuperiorfan: Dont plonk your car on the corner of a backstreet dump which says ‘hey im at the blues game i wont be back for at least 2 hours’. Park in an official car park or on a main road
@mattyaztec: Travelled up from Cardiff for the game I parked Arthur Street there’s a school at the end of the street £10 and the cars are locked in. Worth the money for peace of mind, sorry to see this crime is out of control..
@PanjabiBlues: That’s disgraceful. 😡
@Kieran_La7: ah fuck so sorry this happened to you paul mate, thank fuck were moving away from here, people wonder why people dont wanna come games, keep making the onus on the fans to improve support, yet this is the reward. sums everything up right now, keep right on mate
@simonryder11: Awful, so close to the ground as well.
@blueruss1875: It’s been going on for years pal, happened to my car about 20 years ago. Unless you can get secure parking it’s really not worth driving to the game. I never do anymore
@mattivory94: Sorry to hear this. Seems to be rife at the moment and it’s why I get the train to all games now regardless of it’s a Saturday or midweek
@Ben_C1ifford: bsolutely shocking this, last thing you need or expect to come back to.. We use our badge for parking on Keeley Street, definitely going to have a re-think on that.
@AdamMoorby1999: Same happens at @swfc games main reason i catch the bus and walk to ground now
@jassyblue80: This is so bad. Sorry mate
@BcfcPrinceton: Ah wow. Sorry to see mate. Woeful. Hopefully, wheels will have some secure parking soon
@willviles: Ah shit, that’s awful. Feeling bad enough post defeat, then you have to contend with that 😡 Sorry mate.
@nathancarty112: So shocking man that’s terrible they have no class this is happening way to much now
@LukeEast17: police need to act about it happens every night game it’s disgusting
@MarkPeacock_83: Ffs mate, sorry to see this again
@ljames2021: Ehh! Never knew this was a thing. Sunderlands rough around the edges, but never had half me car took during a match. Hope you get sorted 👍🏼
@FvckYourFaith__: Same happend to my sister’s car in Birmingham, nothing will be done it happens all the time there. Just unlucky. Your insurance will probably say it’s written off and give you value of car, not much help but welcome to the UK
@kramyarrum: Piss take mate, sorry you’ve been put through that
