Wayne Rooney’s £150k Land Rover has been left smeared with abuse by locals after he parked the vehicle at a Christmas market.
The Derby County manager abandoned his car in Cheshire based Prestbury, only for it to be covered with giant penises and the word “wanker”.
The 36 year old former Manchester United player ignored signs which told drivers not to leave vehicles on the road with the street being reserved for festive stalls.
However Rooney allegedly didn’t care and dumped his luxury motor in a space meant for church bell ringers.
Sources claiming he then refused to move it when asked by organisers and instead spent the evening drinking with two mates in pubs just 50 yards away.
Furious locals retaliated by covering the Land Rover in obscenities and drawing giant penises in the dirt on the bonnet and sides, as well as inscribing “wanker” on the rear windscreen.
The words “lose weight” were also written next to one of the rude images.
His 4×4 was also surrounded with orange traffic cones and a local stuck a “no parking” sign under one of his wipers.
A source said: “What a Christmas Grinch. The street was full of thousands of people — most of them families with young kids.
“Those setting up had to put up the stalls around the car and move the bell ringers to a different spot.
“Rooney must have known he was in the way, but he just cracked on with his night in the pub.”
The market, in Prestbury, is less than a mile from the Championship boss’ £6million home.
Rooney was described to looking sheepish as he picked up his motor at 2.30pm, 24 hours after he abandoned it.
When approached by the media, he declined to comment.
Rooney saw his Derby side take a 1-0 victory over Blackpool on Saturday afternoon.
His side is unsurprisingly bottom of the second tier standings and 17 points away from safety – due to their 21-point deduction.
Speaking to RamsTV after the final whistle, Rooney said: “I am delighted to get the three points, coming off the back of the last two games that we lost, and this week has been difficult for us.
“If you look back at the interview I did on Thursday, you could see that I was a bit flat. We have had a lot to deal with what with losing so many players and bringing so many young players in.
“I felt it was an opportunity for some of the lads who haven’t played to come in and I have a lot of confidence in them.
“It wasn’t the best performance today; we had to change the shape and tried to mix it up and we didn’t play as much football as we have done this season, but it was a well-earned three points.”
He added: “The squad was still changing this morning, in terms of having to phone people and get them out of bed and ready to be on the bench!
“It was challenging in terms of what we faced up to but that’s where we are.”
Rooney said: “If I am being honest, Luke [Plange – Under-23s’ leading scorer so far this season in Premier League 2] was starting the game anyway today I thought he was really positive last week when he came on at Bristol City and he deserved to play.
“I have belief in him and I believe that he’s got all the attributes in him. He’s quick, he can run in behind, can hold the ball up and today is a perfect goal for a striker.
“They are goals which get your tally up. The taps-ins, as a striker, are the ones you want.
“I know it’s Under-23s football, but when you are playing and scoring goals like Luke has been, that lives in your memory.
“That is there imprinted in you and you know where the back of the net is and thankfully today he got his chance and scored.”
Derby are back in action next Saturday in their final Championship fixture before the hectic festive schedule when they make the long trip to Wales to face Cardiff City (12:30pm kick off).
