The League Two game between Walsall and Bradford City sees a potential ‘miss of the season’ with fans still in disbelief watching back.
On the 3rd minute, Walsall’s George Miller couldn’t have got many better chances to score than this after Jack Earing pulled across the face of goal, but Miller failed to hit the target, and the Bantams cleared.
Bradford went on to pick up their third win in five games with a 2-1 win against the Saddlers at the Banks’s Stadium.
We have a serious contender for the worst miss of all time 😅
How did he miss THIS?! 😭 pic.twitter.com/3uIUazyr51

Matthew Daly put the away side ahead in the 37th minute before Miller made amends for his horror miss earlier in the game, levelling the scoring early in the second half.
Derek Adams’ side came away the happier with a winner late on when former Walsall striker Andy Cook converted from the penalty spot following Zak Mills’ handball.
Walsall fluffed many chances in the first half with Miller, Joss Labadie and Conor Wilkinson all messing up their effort to put one past the busy Alex Bass.

Bradford broke the deadlock against the run of play when Daly’s strike deflected into the bottom corner, his first goal since joining on loan from Huddersfield.
Matthew Taylor’s side levelled the scoring in the 56th minute through striker Miller’s first goal in 15 games when Mills’ effort deflected off the 24-year-old and went into the back of the net.
The visitors stole the victory in the 87th minute when Cook smashed the ball past Carl Rushworth from 12 yards.
Walsall Head Coach Matthew Taylor spoke to the press: “The team have done everything I asked them to do. They passed the ball with a better intensity.
“The energy was there, the effort, the togetherness. But sometimes you can’t legislate for errors.
“Errors in front of their goal, and errors we’ve made in our box. It’s a really tough one to take. The team performed exceptionally well.
“We were by far the best team, but it counts for nothing as we end up losing the game. That’s what is disappointing for me, and it just seems we’re sabotaging all the good work we do by making mistakes.
“Every mistake is costing us at the moment. The players, though, need to understand the levels they showed were much better.
“We lost the game of football and got applauded off. I didn’t think it was a foul for the penalty. It’s a decision that’s incomprehensible, and we end up losing a game that we should have got all three points from.”
Matthew continued; “They were really good. When I look at the performance levels and the outrageous chances we missed, and the decision at the end, sometimes you can’t legislate for those as a coach.
“The players will be hurt by that, but we have to take heart from being so good on the ball. We had an identity and were confident, but we’ve lost the game. It’ll take me a bit of time to get over this one.”
Derek Adams was delighted with his side’s battling nature, following last night’s 2-1 win at Walsall.
He said: “It was a performance where we had to grind it out. It was a very difficult night and a tough game.
“It was not free-flowing football and there were not a lot of chances in the match.
“It looked like it was going to be a draw, but we were able to get that one more goal to get the three points, which we were delighted with.”
The City chief started three of his January signings with goalkeeper Alex Bass impressing on his debut for the Bantams.
Matty Daly also netted his first goal for the club in the first half, and Adams continues to be pleased by the impact his January recruits are having.
He added: “I am delighted for Matt Daly to get his first goal, and for Andy Cook to get another.
“Matty took his chance well and scored an important goal.
“Tonight, we also gave Alex Bass his debut. He made a number of really good saves in the first half, and were delighted with his performance.”
Twitter users reacted as the League Two game sees a potential ‘miss of the season’ with fans still in disbelief…
@ItsStillAyoba: No need to watch this again. It played out in my bad dreams all night long. Wonder how George Miller slept last night.
@MichaelBullock: Worse that I thought 🤦🤦🤦
@lcpjones94: My nan who’s sitting on my shelf in her earn would of scored that.
@rogeradey1: Shocking. That goes in and it is a completely different game
@saddler_andy:
I mean. I always defend forwards for not scoring goals in a team not creating chances…
But….
Sweet baby Jesus and the orphans.
@Leeedgar7: Possibly the worst miss seen a Bescot
@kdrisme: My eyes! My eyes! Please make it go away! Absolutely no excuse for that. Shocking at any level, & I would have said impossible, but a professional?
@jreece76:
Summed up the night perfectly
Yet another missed opportunity
@Dazzapass: The more you watch it, the more it makes you fume that Miller should have buried it.
@paragaz: How in earth has he missed that!?!
@csfiore: That’s actually criminal
@Ali_Mac90: It actually defies physics how the ball ends up going in that direction!
@Jake__Kimberley: If you dont take your chances you dont score simple! Don’t think Miller is the answer. We do need an experienced targetman.
@hxrryjxnes: Get rid asap
@Chris_Taylor32: It’s the George Miller every #bcafc fan remembers
@Seanjames344: That the George Miller we saw too often at Valley Parade unfortunately 🙁
@iammattbrookes: Yep that’s George Miller. Like Roadrunner with the same footballing ability as him too
