This is what social media users said with an update made after a car drove through crowds of fans and stewards following the Grimsby v Colchester game…

@topicking: Regardless of the medical incident, it’s time that vehicle movements were banned down there & Constitutional Ave until 10-15 mins after a match has ended. I’ve seen numerous near misses and angry confrontations when drivers insist on driving whilst everyone is leaving #gtfc #utm

@irelandharry7: It’s an open road, and there lies the issue. While the beat do this nothing for a bit of £, 3k+ fans are directed down two open roads to sort it out themselves. A 1-0 loss and a chain of events leads to this. Crowd and traffic control desperately needed @GTFC_SLO

@Mikoo1998: Hope the driver is okay! Can’t be nice having a medical episode and your car smashed up at the same time #GTFC

@Aryan9725: Who’s first instinct is to jump on a car bonnet and start kicking it in? Grimsby fans just prove they’re a bunch of weirdos time and again.

@ricky54835947: Simply roads that lead from the ground to the main road need to be CLOSED at least 5mins before full time only up to MC Donald’s so no idiots can drive right upto the ground as it was the first time I have seen such stupidity by a road user still driving towards public

@Mikoo1998: Fucking idiots outside BP trying to smash someone’s windows in and climbing on a roof of a car stamping on it. Can we make sure all the idiots doing it are banned please? #GTFC

@ben86crowley: Hope everyone’s ok ❤️ #gtfc

@RikStennett10: I saw the car slowly rolling towards the club shop, next thing someone climbed and walked over the car with others kicking the doors and side, next thing the rear window got put through.. I didn’t see any police or stewards around.

@Joe_Maccy: Never understood why Cons ave and imperial ave aren’t closed temporarily after kick off as always get a few idiots who try to drive down. Plenty of stewards other end of ground controlling traffic down Harrington street which is far less busy. #gtfc

@paulSut57685384: Let’s hope the driver of the car OK. And anyone who may of been injured are all well and OK

@danlowbridge: In 90s on way to match with my dad and bro, a car turned down a road too quick with fans in road. Had to slam brakes on, and scared a few of us. A few booted car. It’s understandable

@emmajjohnson75: Husband just seen it unfold with our daughter. Unbelievable.

@GrimTim_GTID: @Humberbeat turned up 10 minutes late imo. Stewards stood off while the car driver just pushed on forward towards the main gate & too many folk got involved. Didn’t see the initial incident where someone was allegedly run over but it didn’t have to escalate as violently as it did
