Ex-Everton manager and a former player linked with job to replace Silva

A former Everton manager and a former player have been recently linked with job to replace Marco Silva, according to reports as well as the bookies.

The first one is ex-Toffees player Mark Hughes (9/4 on Sky Bet), who has been out of work since he has sacked at Southampton at the end of 2018.

Hughes had seven-month spell with Everton in the early 2000s during the latter stages of his playing career and scored just once in 16 games.

Daily Mail reporter Dominic King states that the former Wales boss is admired at boardroom level should Silva be shown the exit door after picking up one Premier League win in the last seven games.

The current favourite however is David Moyes (5/6) who is available following his own departure from West Ham at the end of the 2017/18 season.

Moyes left Everton in 2013 to take the reigns at Manchester United, however that was a disastrous spell and he got the sack after just 10 months at the helm.

He did a little better with Real Sociedad, Sunderland and West Ham but is understood to welcome the chance to continue his 11-year link with Goodison.

After finding out that David Moyes and Mark Hughes are the top two favourites to become the next manager for Everton if Marco Silva is sacked, fans gave their reaction with many not pleased – see those tweets on the next page.
