– Southampton are confident of signing English striker Adam Armstrong, 24, from Blackburn Rovers for a £10m fee plus add-ons. Southampton could use Michael Obafemi in swap transfer deal to land £25m rated Armstrong.
– Tottenham will let Republic of Ireland striker Troy Parrott, 19, spend another season out on loan after spells at Millwall and Ipswich Town in 2020-21. (Football London)
– Middlesbrough are in advanced talks to sign 22-year-old Atletico Banfield midfielder Martin Payero, who has been named in Argentina’s squad for the Olympics in Tokyo this summer. (Football Insider)
– Stoke City have allowed former Rangers defender Harris O’Connor to train with them with a view to a potential deal with Sunderland and Watford also interested in the 19-year-old, according to the Daily Record.
– AFC Bournemouth have rejected an offer from Villarreal for Arnaut Danjuma, according to Sky Sports News reporter Mark McAdam. The Spanish club reportedly made an offer of €15million for the player as they look to strike an early-summer deal.
– Fulham forward Timmy Abraham is set to spend next week with League One side Cheltenham Town, as reported by Gloucestershire Live.
– Rotherham have told St Johnstone they are unlikely to increase their offer for Perth legend Shaun Rooney. (Scottish Sun)
– Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough are among the sides seeking to sign midfielder Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu. The 27-year-old’s contract at Luton Town has run out at Kenilworth Road this summer and is a free agent as things stand.
– Doncaster Rovers have former Sheffield United man Nathan Thomas on trial, as per a report by the Doncaster Free Press.
– Charlton Athletic, Sunderland and Portsmouth target Todd Kane played for QPR’s Under-23s today, as per a report by West London Sport. Kane still has another year left on his contract at QPR but is expected to head out the exit door.
– Hull City defender Festus Arthur is wanted by a host of League One and Two clubs, according to reports. He arrived at City a year ago in a £50,000 deal from Stockport County and is highly rated by head coach Grant McCann having been handed a three-year contract. Carlisle United and Oldham Athletic are the fourth tier pair keen on the 20-year-old Hamburg-born defender, while newly-promoted Cheltenham are said to be keen on having him ready for their League One start.
– Wigan Athletic and Tranmere Rovers want Dundee United defender Ryan Edwards, as per the Daily Record (live transfer blog, 20:47).
– Oldham Athletic midfielder Dylan Bahamboula has been given permission to train with Middlesbrough, as a permanent move could be on the cards, as reported by the Northern Echo.
– Barnsley have reportedly emerged as suitors for Callum McFadzean, who left Sunderland as a free agent earlier this year. Luton also keen.
– Fulham look on course to secure a deal that would bring Ethan Horvath to Craven Cottage this summer.
– Portsmouth are closing in on making Kieron Freeman their sixth signing of the summer. It’s understood the defender is set to complete a move to Fratton Park.
– Scunthorpe United have handed a trial to former York City forward Harry Bunn, who was one of 13 players not to be offered a new contract by York in May as manager Steve Watson reshaped his squad ahead of the 2021/22 season, which begins next month.
– Bradford manager Derek Adams has stressed that everyone will get an equal chance to press their claims in pre-season following the arrival of eight summer signings. He has suggested that he is still targeting one more signing – which is expected to be a striker. But he has made it clear that there are no immediate plans to move anybody out and the full squad will be given a fair crack of the whip in the next few weeks.
– Rhys Oates’ move to Mansfield Town has left a ‘sour taste,’ but it’s a brutal reminder of what Hartlepool United are up against this season. Pools had offered Oates a good deal which Challinor was clearly hopeful the player would sign. Speaking to Mansfield’s website, Oates said: “I met the manager [Nigel Clough] and went to the training ground [The RH Academy]. The way the gaffer spoke and where he thinks the club can go, along with the setup where I’ll be training week-in, week-out, I thought it was a perfect fit for me.”
– Swindon Town have taken Rob Strachan on trial following his exit from Millwall, as per Swindon Advertiser Reporter Jonny Leighfield on Twitter.
– Lincoln City ‘still want’ West Brom goalkeeper Josh Griffiths, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter. The 19-years-old is expected to be loaned out by the Baggies to get more first-team experience under his belt and Portsmouth are keen, whilst Sheffield Wednesday have also been credited with an interest, as per a report by Yorkshire Live.
– Lincoln City playmaker Zak Elbouzedi is poised to join Swedish side AIK, it has been claimed.
– Coventry City are in ‘advanced talks’ to sign former Wolves ace Bright Enobakhare, reports Football Insider.
– Hull City are likely to drop out of the race to sign Dijon winger Bersant Celina. Hull City have been placed under a transfer embargo and can’t pay transfer fees. It’s a boost for Coventry, Ipswich and Cardiff who are interested.
– Hull City are still trying to sign Terell Thomas after his departure from AFC Wimbledon.
– Nottingham Forest want to sign Tottenham youngster Jack Clarke on loan this summer, according to a report from The Athletic.
– Forest boss Chris Hughton is pressing ahead with potential incomings at the City Ground, with Watford’s Philip Zinckernagel and Fortuna Sittard midfielder Zian Flemming being targeted according to The Telegraph’s John Percy.
– Former Chesterfield midfielder Tom Whelan is set to sign for Oldham Athletic, according to reports.
– Newcastle United are thought to be interested in signing West Bromwich Albion defender Kyle Bartley. The 30-year-old is expected to leave the club this summer, and Crystal Palace are also keen on him.
– Luton boss Nathan Jones is expecting to have another signing in place when the Hatters head to Southern League side Bedford Town for their latest pre-season friendly on Wednesday night. Town have made seven new additions so far in the transfer window, but after previously stating he wanted another two or three to complete his squad, the manager hopes at least one of them will be done in time to face the Eagles.
