Old tweets come back to haunt Nigel Farage who suddenly supports England on the day they look to win the Euro 2020 Final.
The controversial politician was spotted on the UK’s newest news channel, GB News, wearing a waist coat decorated with a St George’s Cross as he he discussed the Euro 2020 final between Italy and England on Sunday.
Not only that, but he showed off what he was wearing in front of Wembley Stadium, and boy has it left a sour taste with many online.

Nigel Farage has been called a ‘hypocrite’ after criticising England boss Gareth Southgate, but now like Boris Johnson and Priti Patel, have performed a U-turn and are now throwing their support to him and the team.
Just a few weeks ago, Farage branded Southgate and his players as “divisive” for taking the knee before matches, in the fight against racism.
Southgate spoke out against fans booing the players taking a knee and reiterated his stance on the matter, saying: ““We are determined more than ever to take a knee in this tournament.”
Farage tweeted: “Gareth Southgate is out of touch with England fans. They have a right to boo when players take the knee for Marxist BLM. Let’s keep politics out of football this summer.“
Farage hit out at German politician and European Union chief executive Ursula von der Leyen, who says she will be rooting for Italy to beat England, a European Commission spokesperson said on Friday.
The spokesperson said: “Her heart is with the Squadra Azzurra, so she will be supporting Italy on Sunday.” However Farage has mocked the EU chief and claimed it’s more animosity linked to Brexit.
In a furious rant on GB News, Mr Farage said: “I didn’t want to bring Brexit into it believe me but it can’t be helped because Ursula von der Leyen and other European commissioners are making it absolutely clear they want Italy to win.
No prizes for guessing who @Nigel_Farage is supporting tonight! Come on England 🏴 pic.twitter.com/aNTBwAdCP0

“They’re telling us that the whole of Europe wants Italy to win.
“They can’t bear the thought of Brexit Britain succeeding.
“They didn’t even like the fact that the Swiss has as good a run as they did.”
Guest Paul Embery added: “I think it’s a little bit unnecessary.
“I’m always concerned when politics comes inadvertently into sport.
“I’m not saying there’s never a place for politics in sport but where politicians pick particular winners for political reason, I think that’s a bit unnecessary.
“But I suspect not a single England player is going to be bothered by what Ursula von der Leyen is saying.”

As mentioned, the old tweets come back to haunt Nigel Farage who suddenly supports England ahead of the final, see what was said below…
@shepherdsdelig: Oh he’s supporting them now is he? Glory hunting perhaps?
@GabyMcKay: A man who defended booing the team for taking the knee. A man who, if he had his way, wouldn’t have let Raheem Sterling into the country, nor the ancestors of Jadon Sancho, Bukayo Saka and Kyle Walker. A fascist ghoul who definitely doesn’t even like football.
@CallyOrange: You don’t think he’s being a teensy weensy bit hypocritical?
@SparkleGargoyle: Glad he’s supporting our smashing diverse team. If only he was so genuinely patriotic the rest of the time…
@TACOM1: The hypocrisy, are you sure you support the whole team, or is this message just for the white ones?
@swinfan69: They do not need your backing. They are everything you are not.
@StuartDevlin8: What a tosser, slagging the team of earlier in the competition for taking a knee and now jumping on the bandwagon
@Sniffer60: So the parasite @Nigel_Farage who boos the #eng team and said Southgate was out of touch, has now tried to be supportive. What a total twat !!
@sahmad_02: christ he looks like more of a twat than usual
@joolsevelyn: “Keep politics out of sport.”
@Craig_Pankhurst: Of all the people the players represent, it isn’t you.
@Steveowens58: Oh, there’s a bandwagon. Let’s all jump.
@PeteJosephs1: I thought you wanted us out of Europe.
@BillBolloten: ‘Support’? He was encouraging fans to boo the players. Massive hypocrite and shameless.
@BTNStu: Will you still be booing the black players tonight?
@THELITTLETED: Hope Nigel, Tom Harwood and Darren Grimes are not going to the football. As fair weather fans and patriots, one would hope if they have a ticket they would donate their tickets so a real England fans who supports taking the knee could go to the game
@unsubtle: Will you be booing the England team again today @Nigel_Farage?
@adriansewell53: I’ve got news for you, the national team and manager despise everything you represent, that’s what makes them so likeable.
@ThomasHPage: Do one. This team aren’t playing for the likes of you. Go back to booing them.
Nigel found a bandwagon and jumped on it.
Which is strange, because he was much more negative a few weeks ago… pic.twitter.com/hApQ22O8RX

So Gareth and his team are ok now are they? Not long ago you said their actions were divisive. That’s aged well! pic.twitter.com/vQMsb00ojJ

I’m guessing he won’t be supporting England because before they started winning (and he noticed there might be some political capital in it for him) he seemed pretty sure that he was anti everything about the team & what it stood for. pic.twitter.com/KhCSQkyjAH
