Transfer Talk: Armstrong, Buendia, Gilmour, Curtis, Traore, Pigott, Aneke, Gayle, Barkley, Mullin, Wyke

With the 2020/21 campaign reaching a crescendo in Europe’s top divisions, attention will turns to the upcoming transfer window. Check out the transfer talk for the Football League…

– Bournemouth want to keep United States defender Cameron Carter-Vickers, 23, on a permanent deal after his loan spell from Tottenham, but face competition from Newcastle United and Anderlecht. (SBI)

– Celtic and Southampton have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Swansea City’s loan star Freddie Woodman.

– Middlesbrough are among more than half a dozen Championship clubs to have made an offer for Charlton forward Chuks Aneke, TEAMtalk understands. Reading, Coventry, Queens Park Rangers and Bristol City also in the hunt. Aneke has also received interest from clubs in America and Scotland. He’s scored 15 goals in 38 games in League One in the season just gone.

– Newcastle United are eyeing a summer move for Queens Park Rangers’ 25-year-old English defender Rob Dickie, who has been a long-time target for the Magpies. (Football Insider)

– Nottingham Forest face a fresh fight in order to re-sign Benfica player Filip Krovinovic during the summer transfer window. It is claimed by A Bola, Turkish club Alanyaspor are preparing a £1.5 million bid for the midfielder.

– According to the Daily Mail, Derby County have missed out on the signing of Reece Burke as the Hull City defender is set to join Luton Town on a free transfer.

– Ian Evatt wants to get moving in the transfer market at Bolton Wanderers. “We want to get our work done early because I feel like it is beneficial to have a completed squad, or more of less completed, for the start of pre-season,” he said. “That way we have got six weeks to work hard and implement that style of play and the game understanding that the new players are going to need. The reason we have retained quite a few is that continuity, they understand what I want now and we can only improve from that foundation. The new players are going to have to learn, and learn quickly. But it will be great. It is exciting what we are doing here and there is a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes on recruitment. We have some good targets and we’re doing our best to get those targets, but in a sustainable manner – that is what is important for the club and for its future.”

– Speaking to Gloucestershire Live, Cheltenham Town chairman Andy Wilcox has revealed Portsmouth target Josh Griffiths wants to return to Cheltenham Town next season.

– Bristol City are the latest side to be linked with a move for free agent Joe Pigott, who left AFC Wimbledon at the end of last season after scoring 20 goals over the course of the 2020/21 League One campaign. Charlton and Birmingham also keen. (Bristol Post)

– Middlesbrough’s 25-year-old English forward Ashley Fletcher has agreed to join Premier League-bound Watford on a five-year deal when he becomes a free agent in June. (Sun on Sunday)

– Watford want to sign striker Eddie Nketiah for their Premier League return, but Arsenal want £15m for the England youth international, who has a year left on his Emirates Stadium contract. (Sun)

– Former Portsmouth midfielder David Norris expects winger Ronan Curtis to leave in the summer transfer window, with Reading among the clubs reportedly keeping tabs on him. Derby, Blackburn and Cardiff also keen.

– Turkish giants Galatasaray are the latest club to show an interest in Sheffield United starlet Ismaila Coulibaly, and are rumoured to have made a bid just under £13m to sign him. However, the Blades are expected to hold out for more. (Sky Sports)

– Chris Wilder plans to make a move for Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle should he get the West Brom job. (Mirror)

– Brighton are currently leading the race to sign Derby County midfielder Jason Knight this summer, with the Rams set to face a considerable amount of interest in the 20-year-old. West Ham and Crystal Palace are also keen.

– Rotherham United have received a big boost in their bid to sign 21-year-old defender Jacob Bedeau as it has been revealed that Portsmouth are not interested in signing him this summer.

– Newly promoted Cheltenham Town are reportedly lining up an approach for Exeter City striker Ryan Bowman, according to reports.

– Sheffield Wednesday have launched a move for Southampton defender David Agbontohoma, offering him a contract in South Yorkshire.

– Norwich City and Watford are among a host of clubs that are claimed to be keeping tabs on Espanyol’s Adrián Embarba. The versatile attacker can play down the flanks or centrally, and enjoyed a great season for the La Liga 2 outfit, scoring nine goals and registering 14 assists as the side secured an automatic return to the top-flight.

– Watford are expected to complete the signing of Nantes midfielder Imran Louza as they prepare for life back in the Premier League.

– Burnley plan to launch a £10m bid for Nottingham Forest’s English centre-back Joe Worrall, 24. (Sun)

– Southampton have reportedly move ahead of Newcastle United and West Ham in the race to sign Blackburn Rovers’ Adam Armstrong, reports Express Sport.

– Liverpool’s Sepp van den Berg is ‘edging closer’ to a securing another loan spell with Preston North End, reports Lancashire Evening Post.

– West Brom have identified Coventry City midfielder Gustavo Hamer as an option to replace Okay Yokuslu, according to The Athletic.

– Accrington Stanley striker Colby Bishop is the latest striker to be linked with a move to the John Smith’s Stadium during the summer transfer window. Huddersfield Town are said to be interesting in a move for the ten-goal forward, with the East Anglian Daily Times reporting that they could rival Ipswich Town for his signature.

– Leeds United-linked star Michael Olise could be set for a move to Ligue 1 instead this summer, with French Champions Lille said to be chasing the highly-rated Reading youngster. His asking price could be in the region of £10m. (Team Talk)

– Charlton Athletic loan man Akin Famewo could head out the Norwich City exit door again this summer, as per a report by the Pink ‘Un.

– Reading are believed to have been set an asking price of around £4.3m to sign Benfica man Alfa Semedo on a permanent deal. However, he could instead join the club on a more cost-effective loan move again next season. (Sport Witness)

– Luton Town midfielder Joe Morrell has been tipped to leave the club this summer in search of regular first team football. The Wales international, who is in his country’s Euro 2020 squad, made just ten Hatters appearances last season. (The 72)

– Bristol City have ruled themselves out of the running to sign Charlie Wyke. The 28-year-old Teesside-born attacker has been offered a new deal at the Stadium of Light, with his present contract set to expire this summer. Middlesbrough, Celtic and CSKA Moscow also linked.

– Plymouth Argyle are still ‘trying hard’ to sign Paul Mullin from Cambridge United, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter. Bristol Rovers and Rotherham also interested.

– Yorkshire Live journalist Dom Howson has reported that Sheffield Wednesday possess a ‘genuine interest’ in Doncaster Rovers defender Reece James.

– Liverpool are reportedly ready to listen to offers for nine fringe players, including Stoke City-linked striker Taiwo Awoniyi.

– Josh Windass remains fully committed to Sheffield Wednesday and has been challenged to lead the club back into the Championship at the first time of asking. Hull City, West Bromwich Albion, Fulham and Queens Park Rangers have all been linked.

– Centre-back Tom Lees has emerged as a transfer target for Bristol City. The 30-year-old is set to leave Sheffield Wednesday when his contract expires at the end of next month.

– Bristol City remain in talks with Andreas Weimann and Danny Simpson over new contracts heading into 2021/22.

– Further reports have suggested that Preston North End have made Liam Lindsay one of their key transfers for the summer transfer window. He impressed on loan in the second half of last season for the Lilywhites, and could join permanently. (The Sun)

– QPR defender Todd Kane is not wanted by Portsmouth, a report from Hampshire Live has stated. QPR are looking to offload the 27-year-old defender this summer. Charlton and Sunderland are interested.

– Oxford United defender Rob Atkinson was linked with a move to Bristol City, according to Gregor MacGregor.

– According to the Football Insider, Oxford are one of several League One clubs looking to sign Cambridge United midfielder, Paul Digby. Sunderland and Charlton Athletic are also believed to be interested, with the Addicks the favourite to land the 26-year-old.

– Former Derby County defender Jayden Bogle is being linked with a quick return to the Premier League. Norwich are keen to bring him in as a replacement for Aarons.

– Charlton Athletic, Bolton Wanderers and Preston North End-linked Andy Cannon wants to move back up north this summer, as per a report by The News.

– Luton Town have released Hull City-linked George Moncur, as announced by their official club website.

– Ipswich Town are facing frustration in their pursuit of Dundee United goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist, according to The Sun on Sunday

– Motherwell have been in contact with Blackburn Rovers over the availability of defender Tyler Magloire for another season.

– Brentford have joined Leicester City and German outfit Hoffenheim in the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur youngster Elliot Thorpe, reports Football Insider.

– Watford have continued talks with Inter Milan’s Ashley Young this week over the prospect of him returning to Vicarage Road as he edges nearer towards deciding over future, per Watford Observer.

– Southampton, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Norwich, Fulham and West Brom have been credited with an interest in Barnsley’s loan sensation Daryl Dike. The 20-year-old scored nine goals in 21 games for the Tykes last season, and would cost the Tykes £17m to sign on a permanent deal. (Team Talk)

– Ipswich. Pushing the boat out for midfield play maker Sykes at Oxford. Look like being major payers and players at that level.

– Motherwell. Would like to have Ben Heneghan. Wimbledon skipper and centre half. Still in contract.

– Blackpool. Want to keep Embleton from Sunderland after loan runs out. Far better chance than if go up today.

– Wigan. Want Will Grigg back. That may suit Sunderland too. Down to cost and method of transfer.

– Fleetwood. Keen on Ryan Edwards at Dundee United. Grayson worked with him before.
