Tottenham have took to issue a statement on an alleged incident of a Crystal Palace fan racially abusing Heung-Min Son during Saturday’s game.
In the 89th minute of Spurs 1-0 win, the South Korea captain had to be replaced by Arnaut Danjuma who then had to walk past the Palace travelling supporters and around the pitch.
Son previously received racist abuse during a match in August between Chelsea vs Tottenham at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea taking to banning a season ticket holder for life after social media footage caught the incident.
In March, the Crown Prosecution Service issued an order to a Chelsea fan, banning him for three years from attending any live football games.
How embarrassing.
This goes against everything that our club stands for. We’re one of the most diverse, inclusive clubs in the country.

TOTTENHAM STATEMENT:
We are aware of an allegation of racial abuse towards Heung-Min Son during yesterday’s match.
Discrimination of any kind is abhorrent and has no place in society, our game and at our Club.
We are working with Met Police and Crystal Palace to investigate and identify the individual involved.
We will do everything in our powers to ensure that if found guilty, the individual will receive the strongest possible action – as was the case earlier this season when Son suffered similar racial abuse at Chelsea.
CRYSTAL PALACE STATEMENT:
We are aware of a video circulating online (as well as reports made directly to us) regarding an individual in the away end at Spurs yesterday, appearing to make racist gestures towards Heung-Min Son.
Evidence has been shared with the police, and when he is identified, he will face a club ban. We will not tolerate such behaviour in our club.
Tottenham supporters’ group Spurs REACH, which stands for Race, Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage, tweeted: “Why oh, who, oh why, do adults in this day and age think that this is an acceptable way to behave towards another human being?
“We sincerely hope that Crystal Palace Football Club identify and ban this individual for life!”
The game itself saw Harry Kane become the second highest goalscorer of all time in Premier League as Tottenham has ended a four game winless streak with a victory over Crystal Palace.
Kane has now scored 209 goals for the competition, surpassing Wayne Rooney.
The win was enough for Spurs to move above Brighton and into sixth position, even though they’ve played three more games than the Seagulls who play Everton on Monday.
Prior to Kane’s goal, the hosts came closest to netting when Cristian Romero’s header from near the post bounced off the crossbar.
At the other end Clement Lenglet made a superb tackle to stop Jeffrey Schlupp from advancing towards the goal.
Sam Johnstone, who was able to keep Palace in the game with a close range save after Romero’s excellent pass inside the last quarter-hour, kept Palace within striking distance.
With Kane in the right position to clear the ball out of his own six-yard area, meaning this is the first game Roy Hodgson has lost in seven since returning to managerial duties, with his side falling to 12th place.
Twitter users had their say Tottenham issue a statement on the alleged incident of a Crystal Palace fan racially abusing Heung-Min Son…
@Zackhedg: Bloody awful, an absolute embarrassment on our club
@mbretton: This is depressing, and I would love to see the club take a stand against this sort of behaviour early
@wallisdanny: Some of the stuff said throughout the game yesterday was pretty awful
@Luke_amf: Find the guy, and ban him, simple as…
@Gingerdrewcpfc: Never quite understood the levels of abuse some fans feel they need to give to opposition players based on absolutely nothing. It’s pretty tragic
@OliverRender: Disgusting. Individual(s) need to be banned and all association of them with the majority of Palace fans gotten rid of!
@DuncanWellings: 100% unacceptable – needs to be dealt with #cpfc
@SuggsLola: @cpfc @CEO4TAG what are you going to do about this? Needs finding and banning, don’t want to be near it or see it. Shameful.
@poxycoxy68: Oh dear, what a bellend. Shouldn’t be to hard to trace… match seat to buyer, has to be a season ticket holder.
@alanfield63: Wow! I thought palace fans were better than this, these scum need to be found and banned for life
@cheggs1978: Some people live so far in the past it’s embarrassing. I hope this clown is banned for life
@Hoff_95: Footballs an emotional game, there’s a lot of passion & pride that runs through people. But this is neither… This is nothing other than a careless & despicable individual that goes completely against what we stand for as a club. There is absolutely no place for this. Appalling!
@HodStevie: This is one of many reasons I’m glad I don’t go to matches anymore because of disgusting people like these absolute scum bags that ruin it for the regular fans that go to enjoy the football with friends and family
@mrmilesp92: Fair play most Palace fans are calling this out as the scum it is… hope they get found and banned for a very, very long time
@ErmChop: Don’t need cunts like that at our club.
@kelan_mcpolin: What an absolute prick that man is. Give Son some stick for taking about a year to walk off the pitch, sure. But never never ever resort to racist abuse like this prick. That’s not banter, it’s horrible. Hope he gets found and banned. #CPFC
@CPFCTuckey: Name and shame.. Absolutely disgusting to think people like this still exist let alone support one of the most diverse clubs in the country… Prick…
@RougeStripe: Get him banned for some years
@HJOHNSON_28: That guy who was being racist to Son should be banned, simple as that. You’re always going to get some wanker fans in every fan base. It’s just rare you hear about a palace fan being racist as we’re one of the most multicultural teams in the league.
