Sacked West Brom assistant manager to take over as manager of Luton in the summer?

According to reports, it’s claimed that former West Bromwich Albion assistant manager Graeme Jones is to take over as manager of Luton Town in the summer.

Mick Harford, the current caretaker manager of the Hatters, has done a cracking job and even took Luton from second to top of the league since taking over from Nathan Jones who left for Stoke City in January.

But he has indicated he doesn’t want the job on a permanent basis next season and reports state that Luton had agreed a compensation package with West Brom for Graeme Jones to take over at Kenilworth Road although this hasn’t been confirmed by the club.

Jones shockingly got the axe along with Wayne Jacobs, same job role, and the first team manager Darren Moore, despite the club being fourth in the Championship table.

Prior to the job with the Baggies, he has also been assistant to Roberto Martinez at Swansea City, Wigan Athletic, Everton as well as for Belgium with Thierry Henry.

Along with all that experience, former striker Graeme played for most notably Doncaster Rovers, Wigan Athletic, St Johnstone, Southend United and Boston United, scoring 113 in 315 matches.

He then was forced to retire in March 2006 due to injury and that’s where he then went on to be an assistant.

It remains to be seen if Luton will confirm the appointment of him, an announcement possibly to come at the end of the season when Mick Halford finishes as caretaker.

After details on Graeme Jones potentially coming in as the new manager in the summer, fans took to give a mixed reaction with some cheekily suggested bringing in sacked West Brom boss Darren Moore too – find out more of what they had to write on the next page.
