Stoke City appoint new manager leaving fans of another club gutted

Stoke City have this afternoon confirmed the appointment of Luton Town boss Nathan Jones as their new first team manager, replacing Gary Rowett.

The recently relegated Premier League say they have agreed a compensation package with the Hatters, who were have an impressive season in League One, sitting 2nd in the table.

The former Brighton, Yeovil, Southend and Luton left back/midfielder Jones was at the Kenilworth Road since January 2016 and had guided them to promotion from League Two last season.

John Coates and Peter Coates said: “Nathan is an incredibly driven and passionate individual and we are delighted to have secured his services for Stoke City.

Jones said: “This is not a job for me, this is a lifestyle. The fans will see that.

“We will put a side out there that the club will be proud of. We will be hard working, talented side that will play in a certain way which we will work religiously on.

“Along the way there will be some ups and downs, hopefully plenty of ups. But when we get our philosophy implemented and get working with the players, I’m sure they’re going to respond.”

The news has since left Luton fans absolutely gutted and they took to Stoke’s Twitter account to wish him farewell – take a look at what they had to say on the next page.
