REVEALED: Premier League fixtures for 2021/22 season and TV selections

Premier League fixtures for the 2021/22 season and the latest TV selections have been revealed by BT Sport as well as Sky Sports.

Manchester City will be hoping to retain the title, looking to win the title for the sixth time but could face fierce competition from runners-up Manchester United and 2019/20 winners Liverpool.

Chelsea saw a resurgence under Thomas Tuchel after a mixed spell under Frank Lampard, is also likely to pose a threat to Pep Guardiola’s side especially with some decent signings likely this summer, while Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City want to go one step further and secure Champions League qualification following back-to-back fifth-place finishes in the Premier League table.

David Moyes’ West Ham were arguably the surprise package of the 2020/21 season as they narrowly missed out on a place in the top four and instead qualified for the Europa League, meanwhile, north London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal will be looking to improve on their respective seventh and eighth-place spots last time out, however it’s set to be another tough one.

The newcomers to the Premier League for 2021/22 are Norwich City, Watford and Brentford – the first two secured returns back to the top flight at the first opportunity by claiming the Championship’s two automatic promotion spots, whilst the latter achieved it via the playoffs, beating Swansea in the final at Wembley.

Who does your team face on the opening weekend? When are the big derby dates? Who’ll be your opponents on Boxing Day? All these questions have been answered. Find out all the details below…

LIKELY TV SELECTIONS:

The opener between Manchester United and Leeds United looks to be a dead cert choice by one of the broadcasters along with Tottenham and Manchester City who face each other on the opening day.

Arsenal host Chelsea, Aston Villa play Newcastle and West Ham meet Leicester City on matchday two, again those games are expected to be shown by either BT or Sky. A great opportunity to bring in plenty of viewers.

The final week of August sees Chelsea visit Liverpool whilst Arsenal travel to Manchester City.

September’s schedule includes Leicester v Manchester City, Tottenham against Chelsea and Arsenal back-to-back, and a repeat of the Champions League final in Chelsea v Manchester City on the 25th before City are away to Liverpool at the start of October. Expect these games to be shown.

ON FANS’ RETURN:

Premier League chief executive Richard Masters discussed the return of supporters to stadiums last month, saying: “The fans are starting to come back next week and I hope on Aug. 14 they will be back in full.

“No one knows of course, but I feel really optimistic that we will be full.

“All the mood music and the messages coming out of government are positive, with the cautionary caveats and safety will always come first. Maybe the fan experience will be slightly different, but I’m optimistic and that’s our objective.

“Whatever we have to do and put in place, we will and the clubs will step in and do it, so I am optimistic that’s going to happen.

“Full capacity crowds [have been] the missing ingredient, so let’s be optimistic about it.”

Earlier this week, the prime minister Boris Johnson pushed back the date for the easing of lockdown from the 21st of June to the 19th of July.

However pilot sporting test events with larger crowds are expected to go ahead, including the Euros, and the delayed date for the relaxing of all legal restrictions on social contact does not overlap into the new Premier League season.

As such, Premier League chiefs will be hoping to have full stadiums throughout the 2021/22 season.
