Paul Cook goes viral with amusing voice change as he speaks on Chesterfield’s promotion

Paul Cook goes viral again with an amusing voice change as he speaks to TNT Sports on Chesterfield’s promotion on Saturday.

The Spireites boss is often an online hit with his post-match interviews stunning fans when his voice suddenly switches completely.

But it seems the tone of his strained voice has stuck with him these last few games with his side delaying promotion before finally getting the one point that was needed on Saturday with a 3-0 win at home to Boreham Wood.

Interviewer: Paul, it’s been a long time coming. Now it’s here. How does it feel?

Cook: Delighted. I really am delighted for the supporters. You know, when I come back two and a bit years ago, I didn’t realise how tough league it was. It’s been amazing and, you know, I can’t thank the players, the staff. It’s been great. It’s such a team. Absolutely delighted.

Interviewer: No team has ever lost a play that final and then got up the next year. How have you buck the trend?

Cook: Listen, good players, good staff, good character. But I’ve got to say, we lost my dad about two years ago. Two and a half years ago. It’s his birthday today.

Interviewer: Happy birthday to him today, though, to win it in the manner that you did, the manner that you have all season with scoring goals in front of a packed house, does that just sum it up?

Cook: Listen, I can’t thank the players, the staff, the board, the chairman who brought me back, Mike, John Croot… But most of all, you can say the players. Without good players there’s no good coaches or good managers. And today my staff have been outstanding all year. But the players take all the plaudits tonight I’ll be vanishing now for a couple of balls of Peroni.

Interviewer: Thank you very much, Paul. Enjoy the celebration tonight. Thanks a lot. See you later. I feel confident in saying Paul Cook will enjoy the celebrations tonight. That’s what he drinks, Peroni, then. I just found out what he drinks. Yeah, he will enjoy, know he deserves it.

Assistant, Danny Webb, said, per Derbyshire Times: “It feels fantastic.

“When the third goal went in we could start to breathe easily.

“You could sense the hype and the build-up to today’s game from the supporters.

“I think we would have won it further down the line had it not happened today, but it would have been draining to be knocked down again.

“It is great to do it today with a good performance and that sums up the season.

“It is no coincidence that we have got promoted, I don’t mean that with any arrogance.

“We have scored over 100 goals and we want to score some more and finish the seasonon a high.”
