The game itself saw Oldham and Rochdale share the points in a National League match at Boundary Park, with neither team able to secure a victory.
In the early stages of the game, Hallam Hope gave Oldham the lead within six minutes.
This marked his second goal against Rochdale this season, thanks to a brilliant run from Josh Lundstram. However, Rochdale quickly responded and levelled after 27 minutes.
Sam Mather was the one to make the decisive touch at a corner, causing the ball to trickle over the line.
Throughout the match, both teams had opportunities to secure a win in front of a crowd of nearly 9,000 spectators.
Oldham’s Andy Dallas was particularly unlucky as his well-struck effort hit the post.
Overall, it was a closely contested match that ended in a draw, with neither side able to claim all three points.

Attendance: 8,797 (1,685)
Oldham have now gone 8 games without a win, with it being a fifth draw within that run.
Oldham boss Micky Mellon said on the game, per Oldham Times: “We just couldn’t find that moment of quality that would have been needed to get us that goal that in terms of territory in their half that we probably deserved.
“I thought we completely dominated the second half without finding that moment of quality or that bit of individual magic that might have been needed.
“The goal we gave away, from our point of view, is poor. Really, really poor. There were a lot of bodies around that to deal with it and we lose that. And that pretty much sums the game up.
“I never felt uncomfortable at any stage. Particularly in the second half I felt that we maybe needed something to unlock the door or someone to get into a good position to find that pass or unlock the door for us a bit but we just couldn’t do that.
“They’re the differences. When you’re successful as a team you’ll find that the cross at the end that Oli Hammond puts in you get on the end of. People get on the end of that and it goes in. They’re the moments that are the difference between success and not. And the successful teams don’t give away two set plays at home in the two weeks that we have. A ball at the near post that we should have dealt with.
“We pressed them well and turned them over really well. Josh showed really good composure and slipped it to Hallam and it was a really good finish,” said Mellon, who of Dallas being denied by the post added: “I thought that was it. I was right behind that and I thought that was in.
“I just didn’t see the game challenging us.
“We’ve been here before where I thought we might need more than just one more, but today, the whole second half I felt really comfortable and I thought ‘if that goes in that’s it’.
“It just fell the wrong side of the post for us so we were a wee bit unfortunate with that.”
Rochdale’s Jimmy McNulty said: “I thought it was a commendable effort from the team, to be honest.
“To go behind early in the game, in a disappointing fashion for us as a team, it could have gone a lot differently, but I thought the team rallied and I thought we showed real bravery.
“I think the day was quite tough. The wind out here at pitch level, the dryness of the pitch, the ball just wouldn’t settle on it which made it challenging for the players.
“A lot of them have commented on that. It’s a bit bobbly and the firmness of it was just a bit of a factor in trying to settle the ball down.
“I thought that’s a factor that affected the game a little bit for us with the style that we try and play, not so much for Oldham because I thought they were much more direct than us with their strategy for the day, which is football. You have to face a lot of different types of strategy. The ball doesn’t bobble in the air, but it does on the ground which made it tough for us to try and play the way we want to play.
“But taking all that into account, I think we were really brave, we stuck to our plan and there was a belief from the team that they could keep going.
“As the game grew, I thought we were the team that became more dangerous, other than a couple of breakaways [from Oldham] and they hit the post.
“When we reflect on the game, I think some of our final third choices, we probably will regret and definitely learn from, because I think the game was there for us.
“There were moments where, once we got to the final third, we just needed a calmness and make a better decision. I think the game could have been totally different for us.”
