Rochdale and Oldham fans took to fight on the pitch and police had to deal with some trouble which took place outside the ground.
AroundTheGrounds captured the heated moments, and said: “What an unreal game in a local derby between Rochdale and Oldham Athletic, 7 goals, fans fighting on the pitch, pyros and limbs.
“For a neutral this game had everything, it was incredible and what a advert for the National League.”

The game itself saw James Norwood score on the 72nd minute to help Oldham edge out Rochdale in a seven-goal thriller.
Nathan Sheron put the Latics in front on 16 minutes before a crazy rush of goal came after half time, with Devarn Green doubling the lead on 49 minutes.
Dale did well to create space for Hayes on the right and he drove into the area before pulling the ball back for Keohane, who slotted home on 53 minutes.
Shortly after, a corner was sent in by East. It took a couple of ricochets before falling for Keohane to got the scoreline level on the hour mark.
Hallam Hope immediately put Oldham back ahead before Norwood produced a smart finish from a tight angle with 18 minutes remaining.
Keohane then completed a hat-trick slamming a close-range finish after the ball fell to him from a corner, and despite 16 minutes of stoppage-time.
Oldham held on with the result moving them up to 10th in the table with 22 points from 16 games. Rochdale meanwhile are 12th with 20 points from 16 games.
Oldham boss Micky Mellon said post-match, as per Oldham Times: “What a derby! You expect the emotion and the madness in those sorts of games but credit to the players who have only met me on Monday who saw that one out.
“We can improve on things – conceding from set pieces and soon after we scored – but I hope the fans can go home happy.
“I don’t want to have to score four every week to win a game of football, hopefully we can deliver less heart attacks to our supporters, especially as we missed chances in the first half before the madness began.
“There’s been a lot of change at the football club and that’s disruptive for the players and the fans, so we want to bring a bit of stability and organisation. I’ve never been involved in such a heated derby, with those 16 minutes added on at the end I couldn’t believe it.
“We believe in the players and those who started today were terrific. We’ll look at the three goals we conceded in time but tonight and tomorrow we can enjoy this one.”
Twitter users reacted as Rochdale and Oldham fans fight on the pitch and police deal with trouble outside the ground…

@SolomonTwigg: There’s no words to describe how embarrassing oldham and rochdale fans are 😭
@CharlieRafc: Absolutely disgusting behaviour by Oldham fans, haven’t seen so many deranged idiots since the 90s. You should be ashamed #OAFC #RAFC
@SfcDanny: I swear that’s all they do is go to games to fight people. Fucking wankers honestly so embarrassing. Imagine going to a game and all you do is ask for a fight
@theo_wilkes: About time some sanctions were put in place for Oldham fans. Keep running on the pitch every goal it’s pathetic. Not like it’s a one time thing neither @TheVanaramaNL
@Bates0899: Utterly embarrassing
@squintyeyes90: What a set of absolute fucking plebs. Pub sides
@connor_ctfc: Lower league footy is the best
@wxbster_: Biggest bunch of mongs about oldham lot aren’t they
@niklitwinenko: Banter the two #oafc fans calmly jumping out of the Dale end, celebrating with Norwood, then joining the away end.
@kieranmcandrew: I saw Hohan going over telling our lot to behave so the game doesn’t get abandoned, but didn’t notice Norwood was right in the thick of it. Proper leader is Norwood (& Hogan) Proper centre forward, proper leader #oafc
@Chris150379: as a neutral the behaviour of the oldham fans is shocking, like most clubs alot have their knob fans but Oldham today and at chesterfield have shown just how much class they have! shouldnt have to worry about your kids going to football!!!
