Nottingham Forest fans react to Crystal Palace being demoted to the UEFA Conference League and Forest taking their place in the Europa.

Palace have been expelled from the Europa League after Uefa ruled that John Textor – Palace’s co-owner – breached their multi-club ownership rules with his other stake in Ligue 1 outfit Lyon.

Palace qualified for the competition after winning the FA Cup, however, their admission was rejected on Friday while Lyon’s was accepted, meaning the French club remain in the Europa League.

Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest are now expected to replace Palace, with the latter expected to appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport, in accordance with Uefa statutes.

Some fans feel it’s unfair to change rulings mid-season and express sympathy for Palace, acknowledging that the situation isn’t the fault of Palace’s fans.

Others meanwhile after excited about the opportunity, eagerly planning to support Forest in the Europa League.

As can be seen in Sky Sports’ video, one fan says: “I think knowing they bring the ruling halfway through a season, that’s slightly unfair, ain’t it? You know, I know that, okay, Forest is gonna benefit from Crystal Palace’s loss. But if it was the the other way around, I’d be slightly disappointed.

Another added: “Buzzing, really? It’s like I’m trying to get my passport sorted again. Do you know what I mean? Obviously, get us down there and cheer on the boys.

A third commented: “I feel sorry for Crystal Palace because I feel like they’ve obviously, it’s not really down to their fans. I feel bad for them, but, I mean, if it means better for Forest, that’s good for us.

One Forest fan said: “Absolutely would feel for Palace, but one person’s loss is another person’s game.

And another replied: “Maybe not the best way to get it. Obviously, Palace losing out. I feel if I was a Palace fan, but I you know, their losses are gained. So exciting times, I think.”
