The Newcastle DJ was on the wind up post-match and Oliver Glasner gives a brutally honest verdict as his Crystal Palace side lose 5-0.
Newcastle hit five past Palace by the 58th minute, Jacob Murphy netting a stunning opener; Eberechi Eze saw his penalty saved; there was an Marc Guehi own-goal, Harvey Barnes and Fabian Schar put Newcastle four up at half-time; and Alexander Isak scored a fifth in the second half.
After the final whistle, the Newcastle DJ could be heard cheekily playing ‘Glad All Over’, a song that is played by Palace at their home games, sung by their fans, an anthem of theirs.
Assistant Jason Tindall and coach Graeme Jones were in charge while head coach Eddie Howe continues to recover from pneumonia, seeing nine goals in the last two games to close the gap on 2nd place Arsenal to four points to move third with a fifth consecutive Premier League victory.
Meanwhile for Palace, they are 12th with 43 points from 32 games played, 11 points from 7th. Take a look at the match highlights below…

WHAT DID BOTH MANAGERS SAY:
Newcastle assistant manager Jason Tindall, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “We spoke pre game about maintaining the standards we set ourselves at the weekend, about being really aggressive and on the front foot. I thought the players went about that and executed that brilliantly.”
On naming an unchanged team again: “We’ve got a fantastic squad and the balance of the team has been great. We’ve got some players on the bench who can come on the pitch and make a difference. We’re confident, we’ve had a good run of results and we have to remain level headed and work hard every day to go out and deliver performances.”
On the boost winning the Carabao Cup gave Newcastle: “That gave us huge confidence, we went out and deliverred a performance against arguably one of the best teams in Europe in Liverpool. We were able to enjoy that for a period of time but we knew what our objectives were for the remainder of the season – to finish as high up the league table as possible. The manager always leads and sets that example of never switching off. They’ve gone out there, been really consistent and delivering performances.”
On not having spoken to Eddie Howe about footballing matters yet: “I think at a time like this the most important thing is your health, that you rest and recover. We wish Eddie all the best and the more he can rest the sooner he’ll be back.”
On wanting to be in the Champions League: “That’s where we want to get to. Everybody in the Premier League wants to be in the champions league. We’ve experienced it before and we want more of it. We’ve got six cup finals now remaining and we have to stay focused to be able to go out there and deliver the performances we know will help us to get Champions League.”
Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner to BBC Match of the Day: “I think Newcastle were excellent and have showed this in the last few weeks. We couldn’t deal with their intensity and directness and pace. When we had the situation to get into the game it didn’t work. There are some days where nothing works, and at the same time everything worked for Newcastle.
“Sometimes it’s better to not be too analytical and you have to just throw it in the bin. This is what we’ll do today.
“We can analyse all the goals, but if you make mistakes on top it’s difficult in a game against Newcastle, especially when their shape is so good.
“Sometimes you don’t have the right answer. We’ve changed nothing but things aren’t working anymore. We have to be very honest. We’re Crystal Palace and if we don’t perform at our top level, Newcastle and Manchester City are better than us.
“We wanted to at least draw the second half but we didn’t achieve it. This influences the next games. We were a bit better. Again, it doesn’t help. We don’t get any points from this game.
“Maybe it’s good for us getting one step back. Now we’ll focus on the basics and remember what made us so strong. Now is not the time to point fingers. We’ll just look in the mirror and I’ll see what I can change a little bit.”
“Everyone wants to be in the Champions League and we know what to do.”

WHAT DID THE PLAYERS SAY:
Newcastle goalscorer Harvey Barnes to Premier League Productions: “We spoke the other day about building on results, today was a perfect example. We knew it was going to be a test tonight. We started the game so well and got a comfortable lead.”
On Jacob Murphy’s form and fans demanding an England call up: “He’s playing unbelievable. He’s such a character in the changing room. And deserves everything he’s getting. I’m joining the petition.
“I’m really happy. When I’m out on the pitch I just want to help the team. I’m doing that at the minute.”
On Eddie Howe: “We haven’t heard much to be honest. I know he’s recovering and heading the right way which is great news. A few of the lads have sent him some messages. But we’re just focusing on our job.”
On assistant manager Jason Tindall: “100% record at the minute so he’ll be happy. We’re so well-drilled throughout the year. Of course the gaffer not being here is a miss, but we know our roles so well.
“This is where we want to be. We’ve got ourselves in a really good position.”
Newcastle forward Jacob Murphy, speaking to Sky Sports: “We’re in a great place at the moment. We started off really well. We knew this game was going to be really difficult. Their away form recently has been top notch. We knew it would be difficult if we didn’t start fast. We started really qyuik and got our reward
“We’re not studying [the table] too hard. We knew a win today would put us in a good position. We’re in a good position but there’s a lot more weekends to go and a lot can change so we have to stay on top of our game and keep going.”
On whether he meant to shoot for his goal: “I did mean it, yeah! When the juice is flowing, you’ve just got to hit it. The defender’s come out so it was going to be hard to get it through him so I thought ‘aah, just shoot here’. Lovely.
“We always knew that the first goal was going to be really important so I’m happy to get it and happy to start of so well.”
On how things have been without Eddie Howe: “Everyone has shared texts with him and he’s on the road to recovery. We’re missing him but once again I think we put a performance in that he’d be really proud of. There’s so many we need to thank for tonight as well that are continuing the great work the gaffer does with us.”
Marc Guehi to Sky Sports on Eberechi Eze’s penalty miss: “I can’t remember the last time Eze missed a penalty. It happens. When he scores, no one says anything. It happens. We just have to move on.”

WHAT DID FANS HAVE TO SAY
Twitter users reacted with the Newcastle DJ on the wind up and Glasner gives a brutally honest verdict as Palace lose 5-0…
@CpfcSwaino: Borderline disrespectful imo. Travelling fans to one of the furthest away days on a Wednesday night have just lost 5-0 and you want to take the piss out of them? Have a lot of respect for Newcastle, big club, great fanbase and a lot of history but this is disappointing tbh.
@bkkgeordie: As a Newcastle supporter, I don’t appreciate it, we did it against Man United too. We want to celebrate our wins and how we’re playing at the moment, not mock other football clubs.
@haverpish: Rattled more by the PA than the result 😂
@ian_davey5915: Classless that, just take the 3 points and move on
@TomLoft1991: Has this what football’s come to? Fucking hell fire.
@chriswilko5: So poor from a club I respect so much. Highly disrespectful and expected better. Type of crap you expect from a less traditional premier league club
@TonyToony31: Love the shithousery from our DJ ⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️
@cpfcmac: embarrassing that, sack league off now fuck it just play 18s till end of season, all focus should be on the cup QUE SERA SERA ❤️💙
@JOG25779189: Fair result. Lost to an infinitely better side tonight. Like a load of rag dolls tossed into a pool of piranhas. At least we only lost the second half 1-0….
@wil87844: Jank … 10 goals shipped in two games. There are mitigating factors to be fair but still 🤷🏼♂️.but hey ho … we move forwards . FA Cup Wembley trip to come. Keep the faith ! I hope the semi goes better …. Eagles !!! 🦅
@Geoff_NUFC: And nothing was said when the Palace DJ played Money Money Money at their place. Meh, people need to lighten up
@MatchdayCPFC: The nonchalant gimmick has infiltrated football to the point where some players would rather look cool in their run-up than blast the ball into the back of the net. That Eze pen was one of the worst I’ve ever seen. Also embarrassing to do that after taking it from Mateta.
@Palace_Sean: C*nts. All of them. Drop Eze and Mitchell for Bournemouth and Arsenal. Both pure shite, crazy how he stayed on the full 90mins.
@ThePalaceWay: “You’re not fit to wear the shirt” territory. Every Palace away supporter should be paid back their ticket and journey. Disgusting. Shameful. Embarrassing. #CPFC
@KevBrow56382158: Shout out to the Palace fans that made the journey, made some good noise. Good luck for Wembley boys #NUFC
