Scunthorpe United have this afternoon confirmed the appointment of Paul Hurst as their new manager.
He takes over from Andy Dowson, who was caretaker following Stuart McCall’s exit two months ago.
Hurst,was in charge of Ipswich earlier this season but was sacked in October are he won only one of his 14 Championship games in charge.
He had previously taken Shrewsbury to the League One play-off final and Checkatrade Trophy final during the 2017/18 season.

Scunthorpe United’s club statement adds: “Scunthorpe United is delighted to announce the appointment of Paul Hurst as the club’s new first team manager.
“Paul will be joined by Chris Doig, who has taken on the role of assistant manager.
“We can confirm Andy Dawson will revert back to a position on the coaching staff.
“Kenny Black and Nick Barmby, who was helping during Andy’s spell as caretaker manager, have now left the club. We thank them for their efforts while with United and wish them well for the future.”
