A Mansfield fan has been captured by Sky Sports cameras knocking a ball out of Mickey Demetriou’s hands as he tried to take a throw-in during a League Two play-off semi-final second leg on Sunday evening.
The moment happened in the second half before the game when to extra time and then penalties after a goalless 90 minutes with the aggregate score at 1-1 from the first leg.
It was tense all the day through with over 40 attempts at goal, though one giddy home fan reach over and knock the ball out of the Newport player’s hands.
Nearby Mansfield Town fans laughed and cheered the moment with another supporter making a funny face and waving his hands.

It was Newport County who had the last laugh however after not missing a single penalty in the shootout, knocking out David Flitcroft’s men who will have to endure another season in League Two.

Newport County manager Mike Flynn said, as quoted by the BBC: “What an amazing achievement by these players. I thought we were excellent, we were absolutely superb.
“We should have gone three or four up first half. Second half they came back into it a little bit and they had a few chances of their own, and the extra time was just like a basketball game, end-to-end.
“So for the neutral it must have been brilliant.
“The penalties were a situation of what will be, will be. But I had full faith in these players.”
