Nantwich Town confirm they have chosen to appoint ex-Rochdale, Chester, Doncaster, Peterborough, Burton, Cambridge, Luton player Paul Carden.
A quick successor was always expected considering the Northern Premier League club announced it in a statement revealing the departure of manager Ritchie Sutton and Head Coach Gary Taylor Fletcher have left the club with immediate effect.
Nantwich said the decision to get rid wasn’t taken lightly, adding: “…we all sincerely believed that they had the potential and skills to create something special for the longer term and they have both put an incredible amount of work, expertise and passion in trying to achieve success for our club and the fact that this hasnβt been possible, is a great disappointment to everyone.
βWe would like to sincerely thank them for the contribution that they have made during a difficult time and we wish them every success in their future endeavours.”

CLUB STATEMENT:
The Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Paul Carden as its new first team manager.
Paul has a wealth of experience and a proven track record in this division spending five seasons at Warrington Town, where he helped to build a strong, entertaining and competitive side that finished 3rd in his first three seasons and in the top six in the other two which were affected by the pandemic.
Paul and his new assistant John Miles will meet the players and take training for the first time on Tuesday and will be working to prepare the team in readiness for Saturdayβs home game against Hyde United and I am sure that everyone will join us in making Paul & John welcome at the Swansway Stadium.

Paul Carden was most recently manager of AFC Telford United.
While playing at Cambridge United, Carden was also the club’s assistant manager.
He previously played for Blackpool, Rochdale, Chester City, Doncaster Rovers, Peterborough United, Accrington Stanley, and Burton Albion.
He was a player and coach at Luton before stepping away in January 2013, and was boss of Southport between January and November 2015, following the departure of Gary Brabin to Everton.
Carden successfully kept Southport in the Conference Premier with vital wins against Halifax, Aldershot and Torquay. But, he left the club in November 2015.
He was appointed interim manager of Tranmere Rovers in September 2016 after a spell as assistant manager and then on the 26th of October 2016, was named manager of Warrington Town, and what a time he had there, including quite an FA Cup run.
On November 21st, 2021, National League North side AFC Telford United appointed Carden as their First Team Manager on a two-and-a-half year contact.
With the club rooted to the bottom of the league at Christmas, their form got better following Carden’s appointment and they eventually finished the 2021/22 season in 20th place, above the relegation zone.
Carden left on October 9th 2022 after a poor start winning one in 12 and were second bottom of the National League North table.
