Tempers boil over as players from both sides clash and Ian Holloway vents frustration after watching York thrash Swindon 4-0.

Two goals in each half, Alex Newby (16′), Ollie Banks (24′), Alex Newby (72′) and Ollie Pearce (82′), making it a comfortably performance for the Minstermen.

Swindon boss Ian Holloway said: “It’s a difficult one to take, because we started so well, put them on the back foot, pressed them, got the ball off them probably, I don’t know, four, five, six times and didn’t do anything with it, which is unlike us. Normally we create something.

“And then they got out once of our press and their confidence went sky high and we stopped getting there. And then the bloke has hit a shot from God knows how far out. Bit like Ben’s last week and it’s ripped in the top corner. That gave in them the confidence that almost looked like it destroyed our confidence.

“And the second goal was similar and to be fair as an ex midfield player that should be hitting you in the chest because as you’re coming out you’ve got to come out and block it and it went straight in our net.

“So had a mountain to climb then and we couldn’t climb it. They played well. They moved the ball ever so well and we came out second best to be honest and I feel I was right by the incidents and I feel the ref got both of them wrong.

“There was one that he should have done something with their centre half. Their manager said trying to buy a foul. There’s nothing wrong with that. Totally disagree. Totally disagree.

“The ref didn’t deal with it. And then Mitch goes and does something absolutely stupid and the bloke couldn’t wait to throw himself on the floor. So Mitch lost his stuff and I tried to stop it happening because the fourth official did nothing about it and then I get sent off. Well, not sent off, booked, but so absolutely disgusting the whole thing.

“Manage the game. Take control of the situation. Make sure people aren’t trying to go one over you.

“But we were beaten by a better team today and we’re rubbish on the on the road. Absolutely awful. That’s seven goals we’ve let in.

“So, I’m sure when we look back at it, we’ll learn from it because we’ve go to. It’s nowhere near good enough.”

York boss Scott Lindsey said when speaking with the club’s media: “I thought we were we were excellent today. I was really pleased with obviously the performance, the fact that we scored two unbelievable strikes from individuals and then two really good team goals as well.

“And then I think the the pleasing thing for me was the clean sheet as well. first one we’ve got this season and I thought the team were excellent today.

“Really really pleased with it throughout the whole game as well. You know, we didn’t come off it and we played against probably arguably the best striker in the division, other than my strikers, obviously and we kept him quiet all game and yeah, I thought he was outstanding.

“I think when you look at their team as well, they probably change shape three or four times during the game.

“So, we had to work quite hard as coaches on the sideline. You know, it might not feel that way, but it it was.

“We had to work work extremely hard because they kept changing shape quite a lot.

“So, you know, we had to be on our toes with all the changes that they made in order for them to get a foothold in the game, but we we dealt with it really well.”
