Morgan Gibbs-White slams officials in a now-deleted post and Felipe grabs the throat of Bruno Fernandes as Man Utd beat Nottingham Forest.
Morgan Gibbs-White expressed his dissatisfaction with the officiating in a social media post that has since been removed.
Nottingham Forest almost sent the FA Cup Fifth Round clash into extra time at the City Ground, but Casemiro came up with the winning goal in the 89th minute, setting up a quarter-final clash with Liverpool.
The Brazilian midfielder scored from Bruno Fernandes’ free kick, with the goal allowed to stand after a lengthy VAR review.
Raphael Varane was in an offside position when the ball was crossed into the box, although he did not make contact with it.
The VAR check determined that he did not interfere with play, and despite this decision, Gibbs-White wasn’t pleased with the call, comparing the incident to one that occurred during the Carabao Cup final over the weekend.

Shortly after Man Utd took the lead late in the game, Fernandes and Felipe engaged in a heated exchange.
The reason behind the confrontation remains unclear, but cameras caught the Forest defender with his hand around the throat of Fernandes.
VAR reviewed the incident, leaving Fernandes puzzled as he gestured to teammate Alejandro Garnacho that he had been choked.
The decision to let Felipe go unpunished has baffled fans, despite the clear evidence captured on camera.
Last season, Wednesday’s goalscorer, Casemiro, received a three-match ban for a similar incident involving Crystal Palace’s Will Hughes.
Fernandes, who had injury concerns leading up to the game, managed to complete the full 90 minutes.
Ten Hag suspects that Forest deliberately targeted him due to his physical condition.
The video is more damning than a screenshot – how this has been reviewed & has not been a red card offence is utterly baffling. What are we even doing with VAR if not for things like this!? pic.twitter.com/WFFrQhFQwf

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag to BBC One: “It’s the best time to score at the end. On Saturday we felt a defeat in stoppage time [against Fulham].
“We scored in the right moment. In the second half after five or six minutes we found the game. Then we were continually in their half and took control of the game. Before that we had to make some changes. The routines fell away.
“We had chances but we allowed them to create some chances. We should avoid that.
“Every win is important. We take it 24 hours and then we move on.
“Fantastic games coming up. This team, what they showed today, that’s great. They have to show it every game. I’ve seen it the last couple of months, not on Saturday.
“We found the way to win.
“We were consistent. We lost one time in 2024. We are consistent. It’s not so easy when you have the whole backline and we have to shuffle and play players in different positions. I’m very proud we did it.”
Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof to BBC One: “We are very happy. We knew it was going to be a tough game. Always nice to score a late goal and go into next round.
“Casemiro is very good at the timing of everything. He’s a clever player. He’s done that a couple of times in his career. It was a perfect ball from Bruno Fernandes and a perfect execution from Casemiro.
“We have a nice couple of games coming up. We have to focus one game at a time.”
Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo to BBC Sport: “[Disappointing] for all of us, for our fans, for us as a team. We played good. We had good situations and we’re disappointed to lose at the end.
“Not too many differences. Both teams had chances, both teams were organised. It was a good game.
“This was a competition we had expectations. Now is not the moment to regret it. The boys gave everything and they played good football.
“They were checking a possible offside from the block. It’s over. We had so many situations with Brentford and VAR. Let’s forget about it and focus on what we can control.
“We have to keep on going. We have to improve a lot of things. We played good today. We defended well. We were organised. We fought. Something that didn’t happen before. We have to be more clinical in front of goal.
“I’m disappointed for the fans. We all had the dream for the FA Cup. Now it’s over. We’ll try again next time.”
On potential points deductions in the relegation battle: “We are aware that things outside [are happening]. We’re still waiting for a decision. We can’t do anything about it. We have to work and put our energy into the next game against Liverpool.”

ON GIBBS-WHITE’S NOW-DELETED POST:
@dgtdanny16: Actually no one dumber than MGW in the league 😂
@AzzBracken_: I did think it’d get ruled out but when they started to replay it. The defender varane blocks is never getting to the ball not even debatable that lfc player litterally blocked the Chelsea player that was heading back in with van dijk, (don’t think that’s a foul either)
@jonnyescott: It’s honestly not hard to understand. Endo obstructs a player that would have challenged Van Dijk for the ball, Varane obstructs a player that would have gotten nowhere near Casemiro. It really is quite simple
@ChambersBen: For a professional footballer to fuel this fire is pretty unprofessional, he knows the reasons why one was and one wasnt… @Morgangibbs27??
@craiglcfc: Good job they’ve got a referee analyst to explain to the thick twat why the goal rightly stood.
@MitchellIvy_: Everyone agreed that Liverpool’s goal should have stood and that was an error, so why’s everyone annoyed United’s counted. It’s supposed to. #MUFC
@Reddevil_United: Where did the ball get played into though? Two completely different places, no chance the person with varane makes it to the ball
@mikewilliams992: He’s right! It’s been less than a week and already they’ve shown their lack of consistency 😂
@ABowes07: Maybe the referee analyst will be able to explain it to him tomorrow
@dewster99: Gibbs white can pipe down. He scored the winner last time we played when he shouldn’t have even been on the pitch
@JazzyJ_91: Ball was nowhere near Varane or the defender marking him.
ON THE THROAT GRAB:
@GWillmer_Mktg:
No mention from @alanshearer
No analysis from @GaryLineker
No consistency from @FA_PGMOL
Not even hiding the anti-United narrative anymore 🙃
@AJ98835766: Casemiro would of got Jail time for that 😡
@andy3945: Can you imagine, Casemiro would have got a 6 match ban for that
@Utd_CF: It’s not even like they didn’t have a VERY clear camera angle of it… AND VAR took the time to check it and still said no 😂😂😂😂 @FA_PGMOL
@redisthecolour6: Casemiro was holding Hughes collar too. Dalot. The first and only player to get two B2B yellows for dissent. Will never happen again. City players foul two United players, Hojlund puts an arm out, Rodri collapses, pen. Never been given like that again. Not even hiding it now.
@JonnyR_Labour: Maybe Forest were authorised by their ref advisor 😂
@_Nev20x: Wonder what clattenburg will report back to Forest on with this, the massive fucking cry babies
@FullMentalDevil: VAR took 5 mins to find a reason to rule out Casemiro’s goal, but barely gave this a look. #mufc
@andywills1999: What’s the rules on this? Is it only a straight red if you grab someone’s shirt collar? VAR needs binned from football ASAP, one of the worst things about modern football.
